Because the AT&T guy says I only need to pay 92$ total to get a motoX.
Btw, they proposed me a wierd deal,
as a Mafia Player, I'm extremely skeptical of claims.
The detail is as below, Someone please tell me where is the profit loophole:
My monthly bill is 340$ for 6 people.
If one person out of the 6 purchased a new phone (for example, samsung Galaxy NotIII)
with 0 downpayment (he didn't tell me, that is my guess)
then the promotion gives me the credit for 15$ off per user and 20$ off for the phone
The promotion will make My monthly bill will drop to
234$ per month (for service) + 28$ per month (for the GalaxyNoteIII)
which is 262$ per month.
He claim this deal saves me 340-262 ~ roughly 80$ per month AND a brand new GalaxyNoteIII, plus I get to keep the older Galaxy Note II.
He claims the phone would be totally FREE, plus those money I have saved.
Ok, where did the profit go? I thinks as below, but I really do not know for sure.
1. First: Debt
It is obviously trying to make me get in a debt for a new phone, instead of purchase a phone with 100% down.
For anything of a debt, it involves in a interest.
He never told me how long this 28$ will last.
2. Promotion for ever
From my last experience, AT&T service deal will expire after certain time. Say, 12 months.
3. Extension of Phone Plan
It is kind a general public knowledge that you got to extend your plan.
-----------
After all,
A samsung GalaxyNoteIII retail price is 700$
If I had to paid this 28$ for at least 25 months to clear the retail price.
The promotion gives me 80 dollars credit every months, it has to be 9 months to clear 700$ to make the phone free.
Considering being bound to a plan will severely damage negotiation power of a consumer, I tell my mother do not buy anything. What if in future AT&T tell us our plan is going to be more expensive?
I wonder if I'm aware the correct problem?
What is the business Secret Behind this promotion?
Is it really saving money? Long term?
Please tell me and Comment Below!
