Re: New Computer Recommendation under $800

    Buy parts off Newegg.

1TB is about $70 now, so that's worth it.

Get RAM, CD Drive, and Power Supply cheap (but you'll want >620 watts)

For the processor and motherboard, I'd recommend an i5 with a cheap-mid range motherboard. For the motherboard, make sure it has all the slots you want on it. I'm pissed that I don't have an SD slot D:

Video drive is where your opinion matters most, if you care that much, which I don't, go for the most amazing one. Mine is an $80 discontinued Radeon, run everything on Ultra perfectly.

This is for a mid-size chassis, you can go cheap on that.

    Yeah, TL;DR build it.

    pretty much what rochsi said

PS get a cheap, flexible mobo like the asrock z70 series, since spending more than that is overkill. make sure you got good upgrade slots available

also don't bother getting over 8 gb of ram, hell 4 gb is good

also get a 64 bit OS you piece of shit dont care if you pirate it

If you don't want to build one, just get the $599 gaming computer on Amazon.

its not the outtages you have to worry about. the price doesnt really have anything to do with quality here; you can get a cheap psu from corsair or antec. just be sure not to buy one of those never-heard-of brands.

throw in a $20 dvd drive and you pick your graphics card.

or if you want a more expensive graphics card get this one, and buy a ssd

That's cause you horde files you don't need.

An SSD makes a night/day difference. After going from a hard drive to a SSD, I can honestly say that it's the most noticeable upgrade you can get, especially for the money.

Re: New Computer Recommendation under $800

If your looking to save money, I recommend what rocshi said just load the computer with Linux you'll save a hundred dollars or so.

    So:

    Processor: Intel Core i5 4670K Unlocked Quad Core 3.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 6MB Cache Retail: us.ncix.com/products/?sku=81327&vpn=BX80646I54670K&manufacture=Intel - $249.99

    Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-D3H ATX LGA1150 Z87 DDR3 3PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 HDMI CrossFireX/SLI SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard https://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=840...cture=Gigabyte - $154.99

Ram: Kingston HyperX Blu Black Series 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9 DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit https://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=784...n&promoid=1288 - $57.99

    Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7750 OC 880MHZ 1GB 4.5GHZ GDDR5 VGA DVI HDMI PCI-E Video Card https://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=685...cture=Gigabyte - $119.99

    DVD Drive : ASUS DRW-24B1ST 24X SATA DVD Writer OEM Black https://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=49597&vpn=DRW- 24B1ST%20Bulk&manufacture=ASUS&promoid=1243 -$18.99

    PSU: XFX 650W PRO650W Core Edition Single Rail ATX 12V 53A 24PIN ATX Power Supply 80PLUS Bronze PSU https://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=596...X&promoid=1288 - $79.99

Case: Bitfenix Outlaw Steel Black ATX Mid Tower Case 4X5.25 4X3.25 1X2.5 *No PS* Top USB3.0 Audio https://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=825...x&promoid=1288 - $39.99

That will give you about: $721.93 with Linux
    or: $861.93 with Windows 7/8

I also recommend take your old computer, or find one that someone is throwing out an old computer and gutting it. Leave the case and DVd/Cd player and maybe the HD if its 4-5 years or newer, throw out the rest, and that will save you about $60-$160. Also, waiting for when these items go on sale helps a lot, I waiting about 4 months for my parts but saved almost $200.

If you gut an old computer:
    $801.93 With Windows 7/8
    Or: $661.93 With Linux

And btw, Starcraft 2 works great on linux with Wine and it is what I use.
