While we passed by Albany and the state capitol on the highway, my father told me the story of his saving of chat rooms. In a bill after a rash of chat room child porn/rape stuff, there was a clause, unrelated from tightening child porn laws and other stuff, was the criminalization of the use of an alias other than your own name in chat rooms and forums.

He was big internet man that worked for big software thing, so he met with the assemblyman telling him among other things to remove that clause.

He succeeded.
