What I like about the Jailor is that it is somewhat kept in check by the Kidnapper/Interrogator role. Sometimes games are close enough that 1) skipping a lynch to confirm the alignment of a Jailor claim, combined with 2) allowing Kidnapper/Interrogator role to RB a town role that night becomes a very costly way of confirming a Jailor claim.
What I would advocate for, however, is a hard cap on the number of Jailors in any game to 2. I have been in games where as many as 4 Jailors have been rolled, which is just insanely powerful because it gives town zero incentive to ever use a lynch when instead they can just jail and RB 4 players every night.
This hard cap would also mean that many games with 1 Jailor and 1 Kidnapper/Interro become dangerous for town because they need determine if it's better to risk having a Kidnapper on the loose or give up the chance to have 2 Jailors active.
A game with 4 Jailors is easy to manipulate once you can convince the Town that the Mafia is intentionally not killing due to the carnage that is about to happen
Otherwise its just Russian Roulette with extra steps
The main problem with Veteran, is that it is used for trolling most of the times. People usually end up acting like jesters/evil and then alerting just to kill as much as they can.
Veteran can be used correctly at the right time with the right "social deduction". The problem is that trolls likes to overpower people with their killing power.
If there is a role I would recommend removing, it would be Jailor. It's the strongest role in the game, being able to rb/kill/ pseudo-investigate/ give night immunity/self confirm. Also can be used to troll. It got everything.
How to win as a Veteran:
Step 1: be cancerous as hell in the day (For Example Talk Like This Or Claim To Be Mayor)
Step 2:If you get jailed tell the Jailor you're a Mayor/Marshall if he executes you then he probably is a gamethrower or a kidnapper so put in your LW that a Kidnapper kidnapped you before night ends even if s/he doesnt execute you(some execute at the last second) otherwise skip Step 2
Step 3:Open up Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture full with cannons and skip to the cannons when night ends
Step 4:DEATH DESTRUCTION EXPLOSIONS AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHA (if no kills happen by your hands then screw you and repeat all steps again and if you are out of charges then blame the Mafia for being terrible in the game and made out of idiots unless they are aware of this strategy)
Step 5:Profit(you should deny being the Veteran at all costs possible even if there is proof on you until its Mylo/Lylo so you have a cheap chance on repeating the process)
-Think all townies that died to you as a worthy sacrifices for your comfirmed town status (if they didnt put anything in the LW then they're morons)
-if the Jailor asks for you to reveal next day try to randomly lynch someone (I recommend using rng that excludes comfirmed townies, btw if you fail the Jailor might jail you again and also expect a shitton of visits regardless of results)
