    A re-skinning of Silent Night by Frinckles, which is in turn an adaptation of Harvest Festival, inspired by La Cosa Nostra


    Story

    As the summer winds down, the Frinckles Cruise Line is transferring the SS Silent Night from Europe to the the Caribbean. To avoid running the voyage at a loss, the enterprising cruise line offered a discounted transatlantic vacation package! Unbeknowst to the passengers, the owner of the Frinckles Cruise Line has crossed the mafia, and now three members of the mafia board the ship with the mission to hijack the ship just to send a message to Frinckles, no matter the cost.

    Basic Mechanics

    This setup is day-start: There are no Night Zero checks, kills, loves or chats.
    The Mafia will know who their partners are but not their roles, they cannot chat with each other during the day.
    The Lady in White will know their random target's name but not their target's role.
    Lynches give alignment and role reveal assuming they aren't acting or janitized.
    There can NOT be two of the same type of town power role. (Sleepwalker & Doctor are not included in this.)
    Last Wills & Death notes are allowed.
    Lynch is Plurality + Majority

    Mafia wins when they control 50% of the vote.

    Roles List

    Passenger
    You are a passenger of the SS Silent Night.
    You have no special abilities.

    Sleepwalker
    You are a passenger of the SS Silent Night, unaware of your serious sleeping disorder.
    Each night you will visit a random person and therefore cannot receive sea shanties.
    If you are role-blocked you may receive a sea shanty that night.
    Appears as a citizen to themselves. Sleepwalkers only appear in death.

    Doctor
    You are a skilled medical professional who enjoys cruises.
    Each night, you may save a player from being attacked.
    You cannot heal heartbreak from love.
    You may not self heal.
    You are notified of successful healing; your target is not.

    Private Eye
    You are a professional investigator with expert sleuthing skills... who also happened to swipe the passenger manifest.
    Each night, you may visit two players to determine if they share the same alignment or not.
    You will not learn what exactly alignment they are.
    You may not target yourself.
    Town-Town; Mafia-Mafia; Neutral-Neutral; Actress-Mafia (regardless of acting.)

    Seer
    A clairvoyant seer, you have forseen tragedy aboard the SS Silent Night.
    Each night, you may target another player to perform a tarot card reading on them.
    If you are killed by any means, then investigation of your death will reveal your most recent reading - exposing to the other passengers the role of the last player you targeted.
    If you are unable to target a player before being killed, then no reading will be found.
    The reading cannot reveal a disguised Actress.
    You may target a dead player with your reading.

    Drunkard
    You are a patron of the ship's bar, a frequent patron.
    Each night you may visit and drunkenly sing a sea shanty to another player.
    This song will contain three names and at least one of them will be a non-town player.
    If your target is visiting someone at night, they will not receive the sea shanty.
    You are too drunk each night to remember the names in the sea shanty come morning.
    You may not sing to the same person consecutively.
    Refer to the "How is a sea shanty made" in the Q&A for more specifics.

    Janitor
    You are a member of organized crime seeking to hijack the ship, no matter the cost.
    You will conduct the factional kill each night.
    Additionally, you may once per game clean a kill on a night of your choosing.
    You will learn the target's role and alignment but it will not be revealed to the town.
    This action removes the target's Last Will.

    Consort
    You are an elegant woman employed by the mafia to hijack the ship.
    Each night, you may role-block a player causing them to take no action.
    Lovers and Angels cannot be role-blocked.
    If all other Mafia are dead, you will conduct the factional kill and lose your abilities.

    Actress
    You are a struggling Actress who has turned to organized crime,
    Each night, you may select a player. You will learn their role.
    You will appear as this player's role in the Graveyard when you will die.
    This ability has unlimited charges, and disguise lasts as long as you don't visit another player.
    You may target a Mafia member.
    Acting doesn't change your alignment for the purposes of a sea shanty being created.
    If the Janitor dies, you will conduct the factional kill. You will still appear as your last target's role in the graveyard.

    Heartbreaker
    You are a flirtatious, non-committal Heartbreaker.
    On the first night, you may choose someone who will fall in love with you.
    You will each learn each other's names but not alignment or role.
    If you are killed by any means, they will die. If they are killed by any means, you are unaffected.
    If you fail to pick a target before day two, you will perish.
    If the Janitor dies, you will conduct the factional kill. Your target will still be in love with you.
    This action does not count as a visit.
    Deaths from Heartbreak occur at the end of each night.
    You may target a Mafia member.
    You cannot target yourself.

    Lover
    You are a stranger looking for love at sea.
    On the first night, you may choose someone who will fall in love with you.
    You will each learn each other's names but not alignment or role.
    If you are killed by any means, they will die. If they are killed by any means, you will die.
    If you fail to pick a target before day two, you will perish.
    Your win condition is your lover's.
    You cannot be role-blocked.
    This action does not count as a visit.
    Deaths from Heartbreak occur at the end of each night.
    You cannot target yourself.

    The Lady in White
    You are a mysterious passenger onboard the ship, always seen wearing pure white. You are the ghost of another passenger's loved one, watching over them at sea.
    At the beginning of the game, you will be given a random player who you must protect - you will not learn their role.
    You are able to use your ability during the day or at night, in order to protect your target after a delay.
    If used during the day you will make your target night immune following night. If used at night, your target will become lynch-proof the following day.
    You may use this ability twice and it can be used if you are dead.
    You will die if your target dies.
    You win if your target survives until the end of the game, regardless of whether they win.
    You cannot be role-blocked.
    The action of protecting your target does not count as a visit.
    Your protection stops all forms of death, even the deadly kind.

    Q&A

    Spoiler : :

    Q: The Lady in White's target is Lover and they fall in love, what do?
    A: Lover gains the The Lady in White's win-con of seeing their target live until the end. In a sense, it becomes a weird "two person survivor."

    Q: How exactly is a sea shanty created?
    A: 1. Randomly pick one of eligible 'non-town players' (Mafia + The Lady in White/Lover) then pick two random players from everyone who was alive at some point the night of the sea shanty. A player's name can still appear in a sea shanty if they're dead, as long as they were killed that same night the sea shanty was created. A player's name cannot appear twice.

    Q: Drunkard doesn't seem like it has a high probability of it's sea shanty actually REACHING the target?
    A: This is intentional. The nature of this setup is such that on the first night only 7/14 players will be eligible normally. This number increases to 8/14 with a heartbreaker. Sea shanties can be extremely powerful. They can also be faked ;)

    Q: Private Eye is OP REeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
    A: Private Eye is indeed an extremely strong role. In this setup however, we're looking at 3 different factions and a role-blocker: this lowers the reliability of each check a bit.

    Q: What if scum kills a lover who loved a heartbreaker who loved Stealthbomber16 who was being protected by the Lady in White??
    A: All four of them die. This is the nuclear, unlikely scenario.

    Q: Why does Lover get to pick their target, but the Lady in White doesn't?
    A: That's just how it be.

    Q: Why do Lover and Heartbreaker pick their targets on night one; isn't it normally randomly given from the beginning?
    A: I think the roles would be perceived as more fun when the players can make reads as to who they want to be locked in with. For example, if someone who is almost lynched claims a power role towards the end of D1: A Heartbreaker might be inclined to love them to ensure that a town power role dies if they're lynched. Likewise, a Lover may want to target someone who is scummy in order to avoid being targeted by the Mafia.

    • Failure to reach 5 posts by the 24 hour mark will result in a DM prod.
    • Failure to reach 5 posts by the 36 hour mark will result in an in-thread warning.
    • After having received 2 prods or 1 in-thread warning, you are liable to be subbed out for inactivity without any further warnings if you reach the warning threshold again.

    The S.S Silent Night was a strong and stable ship. She's barred many a storm and has been the pride of the small town’s port she's harbored to. This day was a day to remember. Her tenth anniversary voyage! The captain gleamed with pride as the passengers piled onto the ship fondly recalling his baby's maiden voyage a decade ago. The world felt wide and true as he made the announcement that the S.S Silent Night is setting sail to new horizons! Next stop... the beautiful Carribean! The roaring waves and sparkling beaches make it a beautiful destination... and the Silent Night's most famous at that. This very same voyage was where he fell into his first love – the beautiful ship. This was the voyage where it all began...

    "And it's where I will die." The captain choked out as he took another crowbar smash to the face, almost dislocating his jaw upon impact. Blood and a handful of teeth spewing onto the floor. It was nice... to reminisce of better times. He looked upon the face of his attackers. They were cloaked in black attire, hard to tell what other features there were as his vision began to fade. The damage they'd done to him was almost too much to keep his consciousness intact.

    "Your vessel will be ours soon enough captain. And do you want to know what we’ll do to your precious little ship?” He asked, sneering down at the captain.

    “We’re going to sink it! Send it straight to the bottom of the ocean, send a message, ya’know? Should teach ‘em not to ever cross us again.” The commander of these nefarious criminals jeered at the captain with almost a toothless grin. His facial features were ugly, deformed and red. Like he'd been in the sun all day.

    He laughed "Maybe next time get a better security force. These men were almost too easy to slaughter!" His accomplices burst out in laughter, each taking turns kicking and smashing at the captain’s already mangled body. He coughed out another pool of blood, his time was nearly up. He looked to the entrance of his cabin... and saw.... Her.

    She had a… supernatural aura to her. Dressed in all white, she looked at him with a... sincere expression as she put on a weak smile for him, but the remorse in her face was impossible to hide. "Your time is close good sir... I hope... I hope you can find peace in the afterlife. I can only hope he found peace as well..."

    Her presence made him feel... happier. Despite the pain all the pain he felt, just seeing her made things feel almost right… almost. Her company made the constant feeling of death looming over him almost feel... grand. Like welcoming home an old friend who was lost at sea. He smiled one last time as he took one final blow to his cranium, splitting his skull open and extinguishing his life... And all he felt was black.

    The captain’s lifeless corpse was found the next day along with a note of warning:
    “We are sinking this ship. We sent out an SOS signal shortly before destroying the comms system. Unless you wish to end up like the captain here, you will board the lifeboats and leave the ship immediately.”

    The bottom of the note was signed with the signet of the Crimson Rose. Mafia.

    Confusion set in amongst the passengers as the news of the murder and the mafia presence on the ship spread. Confusion turned to panic as the ship’s first officer was found dead in his room. Panic turned to chaos as a third, and then a fourth, and then a fifth body were found. The message was clear: Leave if you want to live.

    All but fourteen passengers evacuated the ship, taking their chances adrift in the ocean. The mafia couldn’t have expected this, a group of passengers banded together dead set on punishing those responsible for these crimes. But with the criminals hiding amongst the crowd, who could be trusted? Will the murderers be brought to Justice? Will the remaining passengers be able to overthrow the criminal scum? Or will they be killed off one by one as they turn on each other?

    Only time will tell. Until then… be hopeful. And most of all… Watch your back.
