Clearly his given perspectives for each or most of those cases is leaning heavily towards one side and the truth is somewhere in the middle. No less biased as the average Westerners I assume, just on the opposite direction.

I do hate how terribly difficult it is to get an informed opinion on these matters.

    @Helz
I know you had opinions on "keeping the war economy going".
I remember in the middle east, the US armed a bunch of rebels who turned out to be terrorists and then armed a bunch of terrorists who turned out to be rebels and the whole territory got groups like that fighting against each other.
Do you think it's reasonable to assume that the same parties who profited from it, also had a mayor role to play in arming the East Ukrainian and having the country be at war with itself for all these years? (which I actually didn't know about if true)

Also, assuming that those are comparable, did you ever hear of Russia attempting a "military intervention" in the middle east similar to Ukraine now? If not then I call this a pretense by Putin. The fact that, so far, all captured Russian soldiers, that I have seen, have claimed that they don't know why they invade or that they thought it's just training - makes me also think that there is no good intentions.

Pro-Kremlin Russians and their sympathizers are better at whataboutism than my now ex-wife when I caught her cheating and spin-offs than the MCU.

Those things were all failures, but it doesn't change how countries are trying to make things right now. If we were supposed to be consistent with failing, then we'd be letting Russia have their ways with Ukraine and other nearby countries he wants to add to his Slavic empire. What, is this guy suggesting that it's OK for Russia to invade Ukraine because the US invaded Iraq under false pretenses? That's absolutely ridiculous! Two wrongs never make a right.

Putin should be respecting Ukrainian people's democratic will and self-determination. Instead, he made up a fake reason to invade and now can't handle the blowback when everyone warned him not to do so. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.

If anti-Kremlin Russians want to help, they can do other shit that doesn't involve them getting arrested like boycotting oligarch-owned businesses and donating whatever 20% foreign currencies they're allowed to have now to external causes to help Ukrainians just like the rest of us. But instead they're being more beta than I was in college talking about how they're powerless after watching their own get jailed for protesting without trying anything else.

I agree with Man of Peace that two wrongs do not make a right. Pointing to the US doing a bunch of terrible things does not make what Russia is doing any better.

Proxi wars have existed for a very long time. China, Russia and the US do not fight directly but instead have other countries fight on their behalf. To your question of if Russia in the middle east yeah, they tried to take it at some point and we supported the Taliban. We funded them, gave them weapons and trained them to hurt Russia. My very limited understanding of intelligence when I was in Afghanistan leads me to believe they did the same to us in turn to some extent but were more heavily invested in pushing ideology.

I really dislike the arguments of how innocent civilians were killed by the US. Most of the vets I have worked with who are the most damaged mentally have problems due to children. The terrorists regularly forced kids to do things and parents over there got their kids killed intentionally to make money. Its some pretty sick stuff that I will probably always be angry about.

The most blatant indicator I see for how the war economy is used to shift wealth comes from the interviews of top military brass after the Afghanistan trainwreck. The fact they had no clear objective while tons of money was being spent at the cost of American lives reflects politicians real goal had nothing to do with the war imo. Poland shifting assets and America saying they will supply Poland with new aircraft is just a way to shift tax dollars into private interests from what I can see.

I appreciate that video though. I disagree with some of his takes but he has a very real and valid point in that our world view is controlled to some extent and we are ignorant of objective information. I am not sure if there is a solution to this. Especially in a day where we get our news 4th hand through social media and algorithms are manipulated to market interests.

I still kinda cut back to the idea that it just does not matter because we can not do anything about it. When the rich wage war its the poor who die and in America citizens no longer have a real voice imo.

This part I find is not entirely fair. (though I understand it was posted over half a week ago)

Because, for example, last I heard - in about 3 months there'll be nothing left of Russias economy.
    https://twitter.com/PhillipsPOBrien/...13943012319252
"Our conditional deadline is June. Conditional because in June there will be no economy left in Russia – there will be nothing left."
While we also hear stuff like Russian military being fed 7 years out of date, or many Russians fleeing to Finland because of the economic situation in Russia.

Btw does anyone know wtf was up with that nuclear power plant stuff? Were Russians actually attacking it or is that exaggerated? And if they were, then why were they forcing the workers to work? Weird stuff..

So.... who's still Pro-Putin after the Russian forces bombed a theatre full of children! It really tingles my willies to hear about a maternity ward getting fired upon.

And in response to the "what about the Iranian weddings that americans blew up when they were in the Middle East?": How can you be against the bombing of weddings but pro child killing?

There is a video of dead ukrainian civilians in Mariupol currently doing the rounds that is holocaust-esque. Truck with dead bodies in the back, ground littered with bodies, then inside even more bodies all piled on each other.

There is also footage of supposed Azov members kneecapping a couple captured Russian POWs.

What is happening in Mariupol is going to reverberate for generations on both sides.
