    Special Mechanics

    Overview
    • Players may spend points to purchase lottery tickets for different raffles
    • There are 4 raffles, each with its own prize
    • Players with winning ticket numbers will win prizes
    • Prizes are items that can be used at night

    Points
    • Points serve as currency in this setup and are used to purchase Tickets
    • Each player starts with 5 points
    • Points are gained in the following ways:
      • Town players gain +1 point when a player of any alignment dies
      • Mafia players gain +1 point when a Town player dies, and +2 points when a Mafia player dies
      • Surviving a night gives +1 point
    • Players may will their points to another player by publicly declaring in day chat and PM’ing host prior to death (doing one without the other will not count)

    Raffles
    • There are four raffles each day: Gold, Purple, Blue and Red
    • Each raffle only has one prize per day. Prizes are randomly decided and displayed at the beginning of each day
    • Each raffle uses its own tickets (e.g. a Gold Ticket is not eligible for a Purple Prize)
    • Raffles are reset at the end of each day. Previously purchased tickets do not carry over to the next day's raffles

    Tickets
    • All players may PM the host to purchase tickets at any point in time during the day
      • Players must specify which raffle(s) they would like to purchase tickets for
      • Once a PM is sent, the decision to purchase tickets cannot be undone
      • Players may purchase tickets in one or more PMs throughout the day
    • Each ticket costs 1 point
    • Each ticket has the same chance of winning. The more tickets you have in a raffle, the higher the chance you'll win that raffle
    • Ticket sales end 1 hour before end of day, or 1 minute before lynch hammer

    Prizes
    • At the end of the each day, winning ticket numbers will be disclosed to public
    • Players will not be informed if they won a prize; they must check their ticket numbers against the winning numbers

    Items
    • Each player may only use one item per night, to be PM'd to the host
    • When a Mafia player makes a factional kill, he may not use an item
    • Items can be saved for later use
    • Items are lost on death and cannot be willed to other players

    Re: Lottery 2.0

I would pleasure myself if I got the chance to host this. (I love spreadsheets :P)
Looks like a really fun setup. Dunno why I have a hard time wrapping my head around (I am not very bright )

I think I will need to re-read the setup a couple of times before I can fully grasp it.

I have first questions to start with to reduce my confusion. Sorry if they dumb ones:

"Players will not be informed if they won a prize; tickets must be checked at the end of the day."
    • So I buy 5 tickets Day1, how do I check them EoD1?

    • The points that give or take the Doctor, BG, Vet, and Gun - are those the same points that you buy your tickets with? This makes me think that getting down to 0 points means death and that buying 5 tickets Day1 is suicide. I'm completely off, right?

    "Veteran
You may use this item to attack (-1) all players who visit you for one night."
    • Is it -1 for each player that visits or -1 in total?

    • In the mod, Lookout doesn't die to Veteran. Here he does, right? And BusDriver too?

    • Mafia don't have a faction kill and the only night attack is done by the 1-use Gun and Veteran, right?

    • What happens if BusDriver swaps himself with someone and RoleBlocker targets that same someone? (In the mod - both, the busdriver and that someone, get role blocked, but only one recieves the appropriete text, while none recieves being busdriven text)

"You gain permanent double vote power at start of the next day."
    • I think this is a typo? Because permanent implies until games end. Or is it intended?
    • This might be a stupid question since I didn't read any hosting tutorials - but how does the Host grant a player double vote power? :P

"Players may will their points to another player upon death (public declaration and PM host prior to death)."
    • Does the player himself do the public announcement?

When you PM the host to buy one or more ticket(s), he will reply you with an acknowledgement message and your ticket number(s).

At the end of the day, winning ticket numbers will be revealed. You will check your ticket numbers against the winning ticket numbers to see if you won anything.

So if you buy 5 tickets D1, you will receive 5 ticket numbers, and you will match them against the winning ticket numbers revealed EoD1.

The numbers mentioned in Doc, BG, Vet, Gun and Survivor are the damage dealt or healing done.

If I shoot somebody with a 1-use Gun, I deal 1 point of damage to them, which can be negated by a Doctor who heals 1 point of damage.

1 damage to each player who visits.

Lookouts and Bus Drivers die if they visit a Veteran Alert, yes.

Mafia has a faction kill, you might have written this before I added that in.

That's how it was in the original setup, and how I'm leaving it. EDIT: It is now an active item that grants double vote power for one day. As for how the Host grants a player double vote power, I'll have to check with the previous hosts @SuperJack or @Cryptonic .

Yes, the player has to announce it himself in day chat.

Alright. I think everything is clear to me now. Thx <3

    Last 2 quick questions:
    1. The Mafia Faction Kill doesn't hinder any of them using their Raffles at night, right?
    2. What happens if a player, who got Vote Doubler, gets it again?

Btw. I'm glad you added Mafia Faction Kill. I thought that there could be balance problems without it if a trusted townie got Vote Doubler.

Sorry, just added that in. The Mafia player making the factional kill cannot use an active item at night.

In the original setup, Factional Kill was an item in a Mafia-only Black Raffle, so using that Factional Kill counts as using an item.

I will have to re-consider balance problems since Mafia in Lottery 2.0 no longer have to spend points in a Mafia-only raffle. Possibly by eliminating point gain by surviving each night for Mafia.

Although, since they no longer get access to other Mafia abilities apart from the Factional Kill, maybe it all balances out.

It'll be more fun to have the Mafia gambling on the same playing field as the Town anyway.

Good question. I believe the same thing was asked last game. I'll have to ask the original hosts what they intended.

The Bus Driver alone will receive a roleblocked message. However, since Roleblock comes after Bus Driver in the OoO (except in the special case where the Bus Driver is directly roleblocked), this roleblock has no actual effect.

It is the same as if a Witch manipulates a roleblocker to roleblock him. The roleblocker is manipulated to roleblock the Witch, but since the Witch's action has already taken place, the roleblock has no actual effect.

    Re: Lottery 2.0

Nice layout; needed informations are there.

The numbers seem to be favoring scum. In a classic setup with a majority of citizens and a few PRs, the town-scum ratio usually is expressed by the following formula:
    #town = #scum*3 + 1
In other words, for 3 scums, there will usually be 10 towns. Since the rolecards and the mechanics don't particularly favor town when compared to classic setups, I'd suggest adding 2 town slots, or at the very least 1 more town slot.

    Looks like it isn’t.

Online (even overseas) operators are required to possess a relevant State or Territory license before they can service local residents.

Virtual currency as a real-money alternative is not allowed. (Rip points)

Also, it looks like we will be flouting Broad Social Responsibility guidelines by advertising & encouraging players to sign up (inducement).

Sorry, looks like it may be difficult for you to join.

    Approved.

Speaking as a player (and not as FM staff), I would prefer plurality + majority: it limits the damage of AFK players on their teammates' odds. The setup will remain approved whether or not you choose to implement this change.
