I'm not sure if this has been a problem, but I was just in a game where someone's name was so long it made it impossible to read his messages and figure out what role he was. So the town lynched him first, but that turned out to be a mistake since his name filled up the whole graveyard box.

The person you encountered was probably a donor. This has happened in the past, this is basicly abusing donor powers.

I'm assuming the main purpose of the availability of long names for donors if for HTML purposes mainly (i.e. colored names) which can require hundreds of characters to formulate, if the donor wishes to abuse that which is therefore-mentioned above he will soon discover it to be an ineffective manner to win the game, out of about 1,000 game since donor was enabled I have seen this done about 5 times. It's not an epidemic.
