Dunno if there's any other Mac users out there, but I finally got off my ass and decided to upgrade from Snow Leopard (10.6.something) to Mavericks (10.9.something).

See attached screenshots for how I feel about the upgrade so far.

Small list of issues:
Upon completing update and booting up, I find that all three of my e-mail accounts have been deleted, including all archived messages. Since I use my e-mail for work, this is especially troubling (moreso since I'm waiting on an email on whether or not I got a new job).

Every 10 minutes or so, I have to enter my password so that OS X can "repair" my library. Why it needs to ask every 10 minutes instead of just once is beyond me.

Skype continually crashed upon startup. Downloaded new version. It takes roughly 15 minutes to start.

I really, really, really hate upgrading to new OS's, and this one kinda sealed the deal. Fuck Mac; I wish my industry wasn't Apple's bitch.

Have you tried doing a clean install? Mavericks is running really well on my hackintosh.
Try repairing disk permissions in the disk utility, it's the most common thing that fixes problems behind restarting.

I found that a lot of new operating systems are not compatible with old hardwear. I would crawl through some driver forums if a clean install did not work.

I miss my Windows gaming rig so, so much.

I've fixed most of the issues now, though I still get regular system prompts asking for my password so that Mavericks can repair my Library. I'm going to fix permissions when I get home; I have a third party version of disk utility that works a lot better and is bootable from a flash drive. It was a pretty frustrating update, though; never had issues like this before when upgrading. Dx
