This suggested role already exists, it's called the Sleuth. There's also a mafia counterpart called the Dirty Sleuth.

not a bad idea really... would make you think more about faking those LWs ^^

but in a game with newbies (newbies that don't know how to use LW or don't use it very well) this role would be totally useless... so that'd be a problem

It's been used in FM a few times, that's all I can say since I can't comment on what is or isn't in R&D. I believe someone suggested it in Mafia Disc awhile back as well.
