Getting out of a lynch as mafia?

What are some tactics that you mafia veterans use to get out of a lynch as mafia? My game as mafia has been lacking a bit recently and I want to get myself up to snuff. I can scumhunt my ass off and get mafia lynched all day long, but when the shoe is on the other foot I tend to panic.

So, let's say you're framer and a supposed sheriff has found you "suspicious." What do you say? What roles do you tend to claim and how do you generally go about it?

I got tagged by a sheriff as "a member of the mafia." I claimed to have been framed and claimed BG (uncommonly claimed role.) No dice - I still got lynched. Of course, this was in League this week and after the lynch prior to me hanging there were townies raging about how stupid town was and how I was only supposed to be pressured into role claiming. Still, I hung and it pissed me off.

You should claim lookout or something, or throw the attention on someone else.

if framer I say I am framed. I thank the sheriff for finding out the fact that we have a framer in the game claim a role thought which my mafia mates can give me info if they are still alive such as invest because we have a consigliere on our team.

if mafi I sometimes claim vigi if vigi has 1/2 shots. witch/bussed generally works to but you gotta watch out if its unlikely.

also as gf in a game with random any I sometimes use the "rage because I got civ out of random any what is the chance" method. sympathy is a powerful weapon its why gf is my second best role.

I claim mayor when I know that the town doesn't have any killing roles and there are spare neutral roles. It freaks them out so much.

That's my usual manner of claiming but if those two conditions aren't fulfilled then it depends. Sometimes I claim spy or something like that that people will assume that only if I was the role then I can see those PMs (I agree ahead of time with my mafia to PM something when that happens). If PMs are off, then it's so much easier for me.

step 1, say you were framed
step 2, look at roles list, and claim the most common/abundant role up there
step 3, say the person who targeted u is executioner
step 4, lie ur ass off with "such and such is non suspect, i checked him, here its best to give total bs info that confirms no roles or gives valuble data on other mafia"
step 5, hope to god that the person u say is non suspect speaks up and says what you say is true

or if you want to help ur mafia buddies, claim jailor or doctor and get the other jailor/doc to claim and ur mafia buddies will know who to target after u get lynched

Here's my method :

Step 1 : Make this your name : ツ
Step 2A : Depending on role, you're either jailed or whatever.
Step 2B : Proceed by saying you were possibly framed.

Everyone smart would believe it since that name is the first thing to be targeted.


If most are stupid, then... Just point out that Maf enjoys random.

Writing down the story about Jack And The Beanstalk, makes them believe you as jester.

also any legit det / lookout claim with a faked lw is a very valid way to get out of the hanger.

Here's my mafia on trial tactics.

1) Idenity the situation. As Kyle says, look at the rolelist. See how likely it is that there is an Executioner, and see if it's at least possible that there is a Framer. Also, look at the town side of the list. If there are a ton of town cores/investigatigve roles, Sheriff is always a safe claim.

2) Decide whether you want to act like you were framed, or like the person with the Sheriff against you is actualy an Executioner.

If you choose the first, your foccus when on trial is to make the Sheriff with the guilty result believe you are innocent. If the Sheriff against you even says "Well, he might have been framed" the lynch-train against you will quickly colapse. If you are playing the framed card, try to act reasonable and patient, someone people will like. If you act likable, the Sheriff will be much more nervous of you being town(he doesn't want to be flamed for lynching the Town Saint), which will make him much more likely to say "Well, he might have been framed" which is the perfect cue for one of your allys to say "Inno". Since the Town is almost always comprised of sheep, once they see a couple people going innocent, everyone else will vote innocent.

If you decide to use the seccond, your goal is the opposite, with your foccus being to discredit the Sheriff, not to win him over. Here, you want to act angry and annoyed that you are being put up on trial against such an obvious Executioner. If one or two townies voice there doubt about whether the Sheriff is realy a Sheriff, then your mafia buddys can hijack the train to completely discredit that Sheriff, getting you off of the trial.

3) Make sure you have a very solid role claim. Seeing how there is a guilty vote against you, here is not the place for Jester WIFOM or weak role claims. Sheriff is almost always the best "Solid" roleclaim. Other roleclaims can be made depending on the situation. If you're a Consigliere, claim Investigator. It will rarely click for pubs in particular that Investigator claim with a Sheriff guilty could mean Conigliere. However, if you're a Consort, you should stay away from Escort claims. Unlike with Investigator claims, the moment anyone hears "Escort" they immediately think "Consort?", so it can be very hard getting away with an Escort claim in this situation. Also, a Consigliere with Janitor/Blackmailer can be deadly. If there is supposedly a guaranteed Doctor in the game, but he's BMed/Dead + Cleaned, you can claim Doctor on trial, then get off inno when you're unCCed.

My favorite anti-lynch in all forms is to just flat out claim my role on d1.
I only do this as Neutral, because I don't want to possibly bring down teammates. But acknowledging yourself as SK or Arson on d1 is incredibly effective. You then throw in Death Notes that support your claim, and suggest your lynching about 10/15 times a day. One of these parts should whisper "SK/GF claiming Jester", but for some reason you get a nearly flawless strategy when you jam them all together. It doesn't work every time, but I win with it more than I win without it or lose with it, so I think it works.
My best game of this was as SK- I did win the game, was blessed with the Jailor/Escort roleblock on n1 so they thought I was Troll-Doctor, and I was put on trial and not lynched (I think) 4 times. The average game is too worried about a Jester to actually buy your confession.

Mafia claims are much harder, but I do a more subtle variation of this in terms of suggesting your own lynching, and death notes, etc.
The best thing to do is "Guy, Jester kills target is off." then they realize it isn't off (because it never is or should be) and they think you really want to be lynched.

The correct answer is to claim your accuser is Exe, Also never mention witch or BD unless one is confirmed in the game as no one will believe you.
