Everyone, I have important news! Reports have come in that the previous Lazy Town Sheriff was fired for...uh...

    *shifts through papers*

Did they forget to write it down?

    *ahem*

Never-mind the specific reason, it was probably just laziness. In lieu of needing a new sheriff, and in efforts to improve the laziness efficiency of the hiring process, everyone in the town has been granted the office of Lazy Town Sheriff. Apparently even including some random guy we didn't even realize was here. Congratulations!

Oh and all the mafia are considered Lazy Mafia Godfathers. I wholeheartedly promise that this is a gesture of good will and fair compensation toward everyone, and most certainly not a change to further cut down on the amount of work that the Role DM/PM's need.

    Spoiler : non-flavored explanation :

Turns out nobody cared to discover that this setup has 50% winrate for town if they just RNG votes onto non-confirmed people LOL.

Given that balance has to account for efforts to increase likelihood of winning, its the majority opinion that leaving this as-is would give Town an imbalanced win-rate. Making every town the same role and adding another town slot fixes this (makes it like 42.8% winrate instead) and avoids giving wolves an unfair advantage.

The changing of towns into Sheriffs and mafia into Godfathers is a joke per the flavor, but I seriously will send out role PM/DM's with those role names.

    ►►Lazzy (signups)◄◄

game's called lazzy (except all towns are the same role and there is an extra town - see here)

im too lazy to write this up and title the game proper so just deal with it and signup

end of days are at 8 pm EST, in the event of hammer it'll be processed the next time it is 8 pm EST

game starts a few days after signups fill, and in order to spend even less time on this I will also be sending out roles only when d1 starts

players 5/7 (Lumi, Ikar, Oliverz, Trout, TroutHunter, )
    subs 3/??? (Marshmallow, loldebite, Varcron - /sign after 5th, )

for legal reasons I will be doing the bare minimum of host responsibilities and expectations possible without any unnecessary negative effect on game experience (ex: rule enforcement, provision of ISO/EoD links, too lazy to list anything else)

When I say "SB16 is the priest" or something like that, you can replace that "SB16 is a PR"

I got tangled up in thinking about too many hypotheticals.

I'm mildly sure most of this probably isn't relevant to reading Guillo as he isn't among the strongest mechanical players I know (sorry), but definitely not ignorant of mech principles.

But I liked the depth of thought and calmness by Yap about it.

Largely their calm response to Guillo with their criticisms of him, and that I think their criticisms came at a time that wolves wouldn't need to do that (if we presume Yap to be wolf and Guillo to be town). Expanding upon what Yapyap said mildly: Guillo's claim offers little risk to him (and the potential advantage of the priest on him) if he is a wolf, since Sorceress or another Friendly Footman can either only CC or not really be able to do much about it with their powers. Rifleman can either shoot Guillo, CC, or do both (probably not CC because blademaster can force a target, and a wolf isn't guaranteed to be the blademaster). Rifleman can shoot on n2. If there haven't been any heals nor any correct eliminations, a successful shot creates a f3 (final 3; 1 wolf 2 town) scenario. Worse-case scenario for the wolves is if the rifleman survives to make it into said f3: If Rifleman does their claim (and/or breadcrumbing) well, this makes it a 50/50 at pure RNG that the remaining wolf gets eliminated. YapYap doesn't seem to see this as likely though as they said they think its quite likely the priest will be on Guillo on n2 and therefore preventing the rifleman kill.

Outside of that possibility, fake-claiming Friendly as a wolf doesn't offer much risk.

Only complaint I could have about YapYap's criticisms is that they choose to clearly note that Friendly Footman is only informed of other Footman. Meaning if Guillo is genuine in their claim, they likely helped the mafia narrow down who the priest could be by 2 slots, leaving a base 1/4 RNG chance to kill the priest if they wanted to, or even as low as 1/3 if we mis-eliminate a footman who isn't Sb16 today. Alternatively, if Guillo is fake-claiming while a Footman, this still probably puts the PRs at greater risk as well unless SB16 is the priest who for some reason went along with it. Because, armed with the knowledge that friendly footmen can only know of footmen, any PR that is claimed to be a footman by a friendly footman immediately knows it to be a false and/or suspicious claim.

Though maybe a fake-claim as a footman wouldn't be too bad -- I'm not sure you can argue to any specific degree for how often priest is on Guillo and whether the mafia attempt a priest dodge. It does work out positively if Guillo makes the mafia target him and same for the priest, and works out even better if SB16 is the priest. Which, considering my previous paragraph, I doubt Mafia ever really shoot SB16 on night 1.

I get what you're saying here, but like what I just said means that I disagree with the non-applying part (which, if I understood correctly, you're arguing they're significantly different enough to not warrant any sort of applying, and I don't think they're significantly different enough per my reasons).

But anyways I feel like this is getting dumb/useless and I really should head to sleep now.

It's kinda solid because you can't gain anything from comparing two town posts. Any identification of someone being wolfier is fundamentally useless. As such, believing one to be wolfier implies a w/v view.

As for stretch, I think the difference reasoning makes is minimal as its relatively low or non-existent in both cases. It isn't like you wrote an essay. Supposing !Wolf you cannot be capable of adding what you have so far would be a very low view of yourself, much less that said wolf could not possibly be aware of their own past game plays and make adjustments.

I feel like your description could be equally applied to your question of them, but regardless I don't really see it as low-hanging fruit because of the relative lack of depth that Mizery has provided so far.

There aren't any non-low-hanging-fruit questions to be asked of them, and yet we must solve them somehow. Not to mention how hardly anyone came up with any comments about Mizery since my question to everyone about them.

I believe working out why they think there's a dichotomy between us is a good start, considering that our interactions have had a level of influence on the game.

After mulling it over a bit, I think I like YapYap and they can be solidly in the town bucket.

Nothing screams at me here, though I have vibes that they're on a similar level to Frinckles -- which Frinckles would be a big fan of doing posts such as #140 at times as wolf I believe.

But it just feels too early for that to be necessary as a wolf because there isn't really a town-core yet.

I think he was referring to the vote tag. Oli is sometimes Oliverz, and sometimes Oliwaz. Guillo choose the wrong name and so it was an invalid vote. Now you mention it though, I should mention some stuff about Oliverz:

Oliverz144 is known for being unusual in general.

Probably the most reliably reoccurring thing I have seen from him is that he usually gets irritated upon being pushed, but even then its just his own way often times. Two town game examples within the last few months:

    1) Faking a red check on d4 (investigative result suggesting or outright saying I'm mafia) on me during a game where I was largely consensus town-read and also had strong (but not fool-proof) mech reasons to support me being town.

The check barely lasted a quarter of a day phase after I made fun of it iirc.

    2) When being mis-eliminated on d2, he occasionally popped in to be irritated about him being voted but kept on saying it should someone else. This was kinda just suicide since the only case in the thread for d2 was a case he himself called weak and was unwilling to self-preservation vote on it, nor did he end up really casing anyone else. Even when this was directly pointed out to him, his behavior didn't change.

#2 I should note happed in a discord format, but the players in there largely were players who mostly played on forums

"Arcade" refers to a platform within the game/software called Starcraft II, and is best described as a place for mods or other customized creations with the Starcraft II editor.

Think of it like a mix of Steam Workshop and Roblox, if you don't know the latter then its like that but more accessible for multiplayer experiences with these mods

The "Arcade" format of Mafia (titled "-Mafia-") is quite similar to the game Town Of Salem. Games last around 30 minutes to an hour, and also tend to be power-role heavy with less emphasis on discussion.

If you're talking about wolf slips:

I have legitimately thought this sort of thing (the part I colored) when I was in a game 1.5 years ago (i.e. much less experienced). At one point there was suspicion over a mech decision from the thread and I was responsible for it, but did not share it. Considering how that game turned out, it probably saved me from being mis-eliminated and maybe saved the game as it turned out d1 had 3 wolf wagons and my mis-elimination probably would've distracted from that possibility lol.

This is a good post coming from you imo

Almost sounds like admitting to wolfing (see colored; typically its wolves who are self-conscious) but I really doubt you have the guts or skill for that so soon after coming to a different format

Towns can also do that in general, though I tend to find its rarer with experience.

YapYap I have good initial impressions of for a d1 so far, though most of that is based on "I've seen town do this more often" rather than "I think X or Y thing they did is good in this game's context". I'm primarily trying to get a feel for their skill level though, as that tends to make a big difference in my reads. Not entirely sure how to go about it though for someone who is completely new to most of the players here.

for a player that has experience with social deception games, but is new to FM format

their entrance is merely a "Hi" and practically serves almost no purpose

now that other people have posted they're commenting on what other people have done rather than interacting with them

I think this sort of thing is more common for people who are new to social deception games in general

not those simply new to a different format of it

This feels like a town slip where they are genuinely suspecting I'm scum, judging by how they answered my question in the manner it was originally typed rather than originally intended (I meant to word it as "is there any reason for me to not post X", but ended up missing the "not" and correcting it in the next post). There would be no reason for them to answer this in this way if they thought a town was asking this.

Alternatively, with some tinfoil, I could see a scum just getting a vague impression of my question and then seeing that as needing to justify themselves in response. But I'm not really considering that tinfoil though given the setup // how we've basically got 2-3 mis-eliminations before end of game. I also just don't feel like its the case given the tone, though now I've said it maybe I'm just asking for the universe to make fun of me.

jk, and if you didn't get it, its referring to a block like physically using a shield

    oh and

I apologize to everyone for throwing at MYLO, it was severe miscalculation on my part and I didn't believe I could be this wrong about the game-state at the time

from now on I'll be refraining from doing that sort of "giving up" at MYLO's again

    -----

    broad GG's overall though

first three day phases were very fun for me

I feel like there's some controversies to be had about this game w.r.t to some players

so I'll keep most of my comments limited to the performance of the scum team and

    -vote JMW

as MVP, with Frinckles as a close second for that

Probably the best explainer of this

is if Ewian misinterpreted the mafia discussing their public positions as a 3p and mafia talking

that could make the wording of the paraphrase connotate something else even if it were (by definition) describing the same thing if you just paraphrased with the idea that it was 2 mafia discussing their positions

and if it didn't then such a thing would be explicitly stated

speaking as a person who most frequently plays here + The Syndicate (MafiaTheSyndicate) + Guillo's Deck Mafia games

"let’s create an alliance I will coach and protect you, we vote together, join me and town will be shaken and destroyed"

I don't see why scum would say this to scum as they're already teamed

This basically confirms another chat took place N1, as I don't see why someone wouldn't claim this, especially not from MM/Jmw or Clowns/Jelly, and I can confirm it wasn't from me/Frinckles

So this would mean that there were 4 chats N1

But I have no idea who it could've been between

honestly the balance for this game has just seemed absolutely broken, at least from my pov

You make like 3 chatmakers + an upgrader and amnesiac, which isn't smart as chatmakers are gonna be the first to claim, and having so many chatmakers + upgraded chatmakers is overkill

and then to top it off, I'm a traffic analyst but can only tell if someone's been in a chat throughout the whole duration of the game
