Sorry wolves for not being the most active, couldn't really keep a decent game going with thoughtful posts.

Also I was kind of confused how that D1 train that fell on me managed to keep going... Wasn't really too much there in my eyes but oh well.

Not asking you directly, it was a rhetorical question. It just seems to me that name targeting of any kind would be against the rules, but I guess that only applies to defaults.
The difference in my eyes would be that colored names have 5000+ points and know that they are giving up their anonymity for a reason. Default names are mostly new players or players that want to run a low profile, you pick your poison.

I do still find it odd that people have been punished for targeting one but not the other though.

I did not explicitly say I was against a claim system

I just said that sometimes what you claim has to differ depending on if you found an obvious scum slip that no one else found.

I did just finish discussing the Ozy and there's something we talked about that he'd like to know (and me kind of, but not as much)

@MartinGG99 why wouldn't you be able to talk to SB16 until night with the 48 hr day timer?

What we shouldn't state is our glue/health actions for obvious reasons, and probably all of the actions to avoid getting glued by scum.
Took at this as well and this looks like a strawman argument against Martin, haven't decided whether that points at a Lag/MM team yet but it could be. We'll see later as more posts come in.

If this is your reason for scumreading I don't really see how posting a lot makes Lag a wolf as he does that no matter what game he is in. I've been both scumbuddies with lag before (in the six man simple mafia game) and town (in every other game in existence), his posts currently are more NAI than anything right now maybe even a little bit towny.

Joking aside, I've repeatedly said that wolves get 3 tokens per day from each other, because there are 3 wolves and each wolf gives the other wolves one token.
I think in this setup if wolves do that it would be heavily reliant on them not being scumread/lynched as to not out the rest of their team. Very high risk play by the wolves in that case.

I'll answer this question even though it was directed towards Martin

Yes, I think most wolves would be actively against a claim system because if one of them happens to get caught and they have their love triangle going on then it'll be pretty easy to distinguish who are the other wolves.

If they lie with the claim circle too it will be fairly obvious as to who the scum COULD be.

If I were objecting to even claiming, then I could see this as rolling over. But I wasn't. I was objecting to the presumption that we should follow-through with what we claimed we would do (Ex: "I will give token to X"). But that leaves no room for adjustment and is a fair bit unaccommodating to the fact that SB and I may not be able to watch thread like usual and have to wait till later for discussion with our confirmed-town-partner. Which in turn could put us in a bad spot in some circumstances.

This addition of "If X disagrees" or whatever allows for working within the plan, building accountability, but also allowing for ever-changing opinions in case our partner brings up a valid or interesting point or perspective. I just hadn't thought until recently we could just add this after any adjustments we may give based upon flip.

    Example:

I will give our token to W, unless X flips wolf in which case I will give it to Y.

If SB disagrees with what I said (or something else comes up) which changes my mind then our token will go to Z.
    Yes, Rolled over

Maybe Martin hasn't exhibited that level of stubbornness yet to warrant a full on wolf-read, but if there's anyone by the end of the day who is still refusing to claim who they're sending tokens to, they're just >rand wolf

I know you're a great player, but please tell me how that isn't backtracking from ~4 posts before to then.

That's not what you said, what you said was that you may go back on what you said EOD which lag called you out on. Right after he called you out you agreed with him and posted who you would sauce your token to. Call it a concession instead of rolling over, the principle is the same..

The fact that you rolled over as soon as lag mentioned that he may scumread you isn't a good look in my eyes. Then again, early D1 so this is just everyone talking out of their ass at this point

Claiming who you give your tokens to before the last 4 hours of D1 is dumb if that's what your implying here.

Personally I will not be revealing who I will send my tokens to until I have developed better reads.

And I 100 % agree with stating who we give our tokens to AND LYNCHING LIARS. In this setup, townhunting will be important, and gambits are horrible because they can and will mess with town's choices when it comes to token-giving. Lynch All Liars shall be our motto this game.
The unfortunate part about it is that some big brain is going to decide to gamble even though it's an awful idea.

Pretty sure something similar happened in the 6 person game we played a few months ago (but that led to town victory due to scum blunder). For those of you that didn't play that 3 people decided to gamble a TP role and nearly caused a loss.

    Disagreed

Sometimes the decision at the spur of the moment is the wrong one and needs reconsidering.

While you are correct in some circumstances, depending what the action is changed to it is not necessarily anti town (keep in mind we likely won't see any problems with this till at least D3)

Like, say... Hours ago played a game as an Amnesiac and pretended to be a lookout. I forged a lookout will that labels someone as the killer on day 2. He got trialled and lynched, flipped as a triad. Then I died and as I flipped Amnesiac, everyone is confused. Good stuff.

I feel like the heart attack's theoretical purpose doesn't correspond with how it is in practice at all.
If we knew that roles like Jailor, Government and Benign died far more than the rest - that'd prove it I think.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I could big brain this one

I'd say the most likely roles to afk are likely doc, coroner, and sheriff (based off of my experience) no official statistics. Gov typically can't afk otherwise reports will flood in since they are really influential and same with jailor.

Well, if you don't feel like reading 50 pages worth of stuff here's what I noticed for this site...

Ask intelligent questions and respond to any questions given to you in a short and concise way without appearing too wordy.

If you notice strange behavior point it out and dig into it with questions/ take note of it in a doc of some kind

Have a document of some kind where you can jot down post numbers and reads. Doing that made me go from scumread 24/7 to townread most by most players, and it only takes ~5-10 minutes daily to keep up with.

Keep in mind these suggestions are mainly to get townread and not so much improve your reads, for that everyone has their own method.

This is the kind of stuff that makes hosts doubt the goodwill of a player, and with good reason. Now, again, I cannot speak for the host, but Mike did say he thought that ZZ was showing that he "had not tried".

    - S-FM Lazy was not a flipless game. The flipless aspect is very important, because it makes it impossible to know who was telling the truth and who was scum (or if everyone was town engaging in fakeclaiming), and therefore throws the important information into the garbage.
Okay, so in essence the flipless setup required more severe and quicker action needed to be taken without warning beforehand. Basically it was a combination of bad stuff and unfortunate circumstance

That makes sense to me, as much as it still seems slightly extreme.

    yikes (!!!!!)
That's what I was thinking, especially considering we had the same shenanigans happen with different players in S-FM Lazy fairly recently

3 people (all townies, 2 VT's and 1 sheriff) claimed sheriff out of 6 people which caused chaos for the entirety of the day, and had it not been for a scum error likely for the next day aswell.

Why were there not two modkills in the game referenced above then?

I reckon Mike knows his setup best and what's the best/safest way to minimize damage to the game and keep it as playable as possible.
Either way the outcome of the game I doubt would have been influenced due to ZZ being passed off as a troll by the majority of players, the D1 and D2 lynches would not have been altered.

At most instead of Renegade being lynched we likely would have seen ZZ.

I concur that a warning should have probably been used instead of a modkill, seeing as we have had experienced players do some pretty dumb stuff that did not even get mentioned or brought up after the game in the past.

    It's okay, I'm used to it ):

In all seriousness I was going to thunderdome you D2 lol so probably was a good idea to deal with me N1, quite a smart play.

Just shows that even though mod players are weird we still don't do that bad of a job lol.

IDK how he managed to live to the end, but he did and nearly won after both his scum buddies died D1 and D2

    It does exist

I played a game a few days ago where someone flipped as Fruit Vendor.

Not that it does anything except behave like stump for now, the role still does exist.

It's not because they are underpowered. It's because the way they impact the game doesn't tend to set them as the protagonist or hero.

To be fare, the Armoursmith has the quirk of basically handing out gifts and that aspect might be enjoyable for some players.
I agree, I just see it's use in game being potentially handicapped by the one night wait time imo.

With doc that makes sense, it doesn't make you the hero. But BG... Oh man do I love seeing "harsh shots of an old fashioned shootout" pop up in game. That's kind of what I mean by people rolequitting less as BG, they feel more important with it.

    Potentially

You'd have to limit the charges to at most 2 with that, but it could work

Or if possible code in a one shot immunity so if they get double attacked in one night they would still die (1-1 vest to attack ratio)

Would they know who does or does not have items? If not how would they go about using their abilities?

Or just make it a day ability with no delay and you receive the vest at the beginning of the night, like how triad/mafia change to enforcer at the beginning of the night.

    There isn't a need

Problem is rolequitting becomes a larger problem when most roles arn't close to equal, for example the problem we have with Doctor currently (as much as it isn't underpowered in the slightest) being seen as an inferior role to Bodyguard

Basically it causes rolequitting if the role isn't seen as fun to play.

The delayed impact of the vest though is what can cause problems especially for gov, as much as it can be powerful later on, you need to keep in mind games typically last between 4-6 days.

With the first vest being able to be used N2 (and not knowing if the person given the vest is town or not) you are very possibly buffing evils more than town. Basically in an experienced players hands you're looking at at most 1-2 vests being given during a game as to not potentially throw.

It is, but with setups with bodyguard % on <50% and doctor >50% it basically nullifies the use of the vest with the 1 night delay if mafia is smart.

It is what it is I guess, I'm not going to be around for the last ~30 of EOD.

See you guys later and I hope that town doesn't decide to mislynch.
