    On this save, I bonked the Mayor and he kept his votes, even though the setting says that the mayor should lose his votes if his role changes. This cost evils the game. Can't expect everyone to have integrity and not vote when they have an unfair and glitched advantage, so this has to be corrected on the back end.

    Usually, I tend to be on the side of not removing options, but in this instance I will make an exception. There is literally no reason why a neutral killer has to wait 3 nights for a kill. At that point can Poisoner is more Neutral Evil than Neutral Killer.

    One day delay should be non-negotiable. From there, the host can decide whether or not the poisoner will be immune to detection, or have healable poison.

    Poisoner is the only NK that has no option for Night Immunity so why gimp it even further with a 3 night delay?

    Yes. Something to make people feel their time is actually worth something.

    You can relax though, it would take days for a person to earn enough points to use a vest once, and there's no guarantee they'd actually even be shot the night they use it.

    I currently have 3x as many points as are needed for the highest reward, so I am a fan of adding more ways to spend points--especially point sinks!

    How about something like a vest that costs 750 points? Or some other ability that costs points per use?

    Funny. I have been -prefer constable, jester, jailor, vigilante for days now and have gotten Jailor once. I was starting to think that -prefer had been modified, but then I remembered that nothing is guaranteed.

    I like -prefer and -blacklist and hope they stay. Not just because people have paid real money to support the mod, and they should be respected, but because it gives people something to work towards.... an ultimate goal. There is value in that.

    I just played a game where I as oracle died to a doll, but my ability wasn't used until the end of the day. If an oracle dies during the day, I believe that their abilities should show the moment they die. It could mean the difference in a tight game, if we get that information ASAP instead of waiting until after lynchings.

    Crier has always been a useless role whose only value is that it can always be healed. Anything it can say at night, it can say during the day. Just remove crier already, don't destroy the Judge to make Crier seem useful. Constable is officially 500% better than the Crier could ever hope to be.

    I agree. Taking away options to suit how a minority of people believe a role should be played isn't the best direction this mod should be taken. Options should not be taken away. Night Immune Executioner should be a choice.

    I think a fine compromise would be leave the role as it is currently in the presets, but give the option for NI in custom saves. Give people their choice back!

    Veterans can die. They can be lynched, they can be jailed and executed by both failors and interrogators alike. They can not alert. These are all things I've seen happen to Vets in my save.

    A good player doesn't attack a confirmed veteran at any point in the game, unless there are 3 veteran deaths that are attributed to the veteran in question and you've read the role card and know how many alerts the veteran has. It is typical for evils to avoid the veteran entirely, until the end of the game. Assuming the veteran chooses to lead town, it's smarter to diminish the veteran's sway over town by eliminating those who would vote with him.

    I think you and a lot of people in here are making a mistake by implying that it is normal for a town to play smart. Most people aren't smart. I have played literally thousands of games and it is a rare thing to see a town in sync and focused on clearing out evils. "All town has to do is x,y,z and it would be impossible for evils to ever win". Well, town hardly ever does x,y,z. Instead, they random lynch, or force several people to reveal their roles on the stand so Triad knows exactly who to kill first. Vigilantes shoot silent un-revealed Marshalls. Jailors execute Bodyguards. People play drunk and high, and don't bother to write last wills, or properly defend themselves on the stand.

    There is a reason why evils won in the game the OP is talking about.

    It's unfortunate, but there really isn't anything that can be done about that. It's a Jailor's prerogative to decide who to jail and who to execute. Unless he knew you were town because you were in some way confirmed, then griefing is off the table.

    The name is offensive, but the name alone wouldn't really be reason enough to punish a person. For that, I imagine the name would have to be a racial slur. However, if the name is racial such as "Ching Chong Chang", and the player continues to make racially charged statements. One could assume there is intent for race-based griefing, and you might be able to get them on that.

    It's called not targeting the veteran. That's how you win. Mafia wins ties. Mafia can have an interro kill him. Mafia can have a Judge kill him. And if I'm not mistaken, the veteran killed more towns than evils did in that game.

    Well when you play as many games as I do, someone is bound to complain about your save. I've hosted dozens of saves and this is the first time I've ever gotten a complaint about Veteran. Usually, it's the 100% jailor that people complain about.

    I'm confused as to how this would work exactly. An investigator checks you at night, what would he find? What does a role do during the day except talk and vote? If your other half can't do anything during the day, wouldn't he be found out just by counting votes? If one of you gets lynched, do both of you lose? What is the win condition?

    Same here. I love 8331s that have 2 random triad and 3 random neutral, where the neutrals have no restrictions. You never know what you're going to get and that makes things much more fun.

    I love saves that break from 8331. I used to have a save where it was town vs neutrals, but I would get so much grief from people who are obsessed with 8331 that I conformed. I love it when someone hosts a unique save like the one you mentioned. It makes things more exciting and forces you to think differently instead of relying on routine and predictability like a crutch.

    Just to give some context, I didn't even create the lobby of the game he's talking about. Someone else had, and the host asked if anyone had a save. Nobody responded so I did. In my save, the chance for a veteran to spawn is low. I have hosted dozens of saves with my current set up and only have seen a veteran spawn a handful of times. Everyone knows I like Jailors much more so for this guy to say I am preferring Veterans is a complete joke.

    The save originally contained a 2 alert veteran and an unlimited execution jailor with a 100% spawn rate, but I got too much push back on that, so I reduced the jailor to 3 executions and made the vet have unlimited alerts. The vet spawn rate was reduced so that their occurrence would be rare.

    Are you still crying about this? I will be sure to make sure I give Jailors unlimited executions, just for you. If you don't like it then make your own lobby.

    For anyone who cares, Town actually lost the game the OP is talking about. So evidently, it's not impossible for evils to win in a save with an unlimited alerts Veteran. Why he is still complaining 4 days after the fact is beyond me.

    Somehow this doesn't surprise me. You are wise to always reveal your role to a jailor while in jail, but it is never a good idea not to reveal to a confirmed role, when asked-- given there is no town government currently leading town. If you question whether or not the role is truly confirmed, raise suspicions to the town. If you are not going to PM then expect to be jailed and executed or shot by a vigilante.

    I dont know about other jailors but I only execute after an interrogation of my prisoner, and I am certain they need to be executed. A vigilante is unable to justify a n1 shooting because they have no reason to shoot.

I personally believe that this is a smurf, given his number of games played and how he came out of the woodworks with strong racism, but I have no evidence of it.     You seem to be awfully hung up on what the role would mean for Mafia/Triad in an 8331 setup. I'll say it again, new and interesting roles shouldn't be sacrificed to protect a certain set-up. I for one would love to play something different and not be forced into the same set-up forever.

    Playing it safe and sterile always makes for the most boring experiences.

    Yes, it will be more challenging for the Mafia with an Escape Artist in the game and might cause them to adjust their gameplay and think on their feet.

    The stars would need to align to be as you say. In a traditional 8-3-3-1, the Escape Artist would need to be lynched during the first couple of nights to do irreparable damage to the Mafia, and that's assuming they can convince town-- all assuming the Escape Artist is a troll who would want to do that to begin with. But lets say that the low chance of that happening would be too much for a person to take. Perhaps then, instead of accommodating the 8-3-3-1 save, a new standard could be explored? Perhaps a save where there are only 2 mafia?

    The whole idea with this role is to get people to think differently and play differently. Maybe its time the 8-3-3-1 shared the spotlight with another type of save. Mix things up and make things interesting?

    Imagine for a moment that a Marshall reveals himself. This is a Jester's dream come true, but it would be an Escape Artist's nightmare. Situations like these should lead to completely different gameplay from those two roles. You don't want to straight up offer fake leads before you know what the gov will be because that will determine how you will proceed. This role requires you to think differently.

    The Escape Artist wins by replacing someone. So the goal isn't just to get lynched. It's to get lynched in a way that gives you that win condition. Being courted or being part of a group execution will not give you the win condition.

    What makes this role different from an Executioner is that town will know for certain that they lynched an Escape Artist, so trolling after the fact won't really be an issue. The Escape Artist will need to tread carefully. If he plays the obvious Jester then town won't lynch. If he plays a convincing town role, he might get courted.

    Escape Artist (Neutral Benign)
    Crimes: Identity Theft


    This role will have a passive ability like Jester or Executioner. The win condition will be to replace a person who lynched you. Instead of there being an execution sequence, there will be an escape sequence and one of the guilty voters will be switched with the Escape Artist. The role that appears to the town after the lynching will be the role of the person who was replaced. If the Escape Artist is lynched during a group execution, the win condition will not be met because they will be unable to escape.

    The Escape Artist will be a unique role, with only 1 allowed per lobby. Like the Disguiser, the Escape Artist will be unable to copy the role of the person that is replaced. The Escape Artist will be able to infiltrate any group with a night chat, but the group will immediately know that you are an impostor because the role will appear as "Escape Artist". If the Escape Artist replaces a GF, a mafioso will be created from one of the remaining members. Mafia/Triad will be able to target and kill the Escape Artist. However, an Escape Artist will kill any disguiser/informant that targets him.

    The Escape Artist can be night immune and/or immune to conversion depending on the settings.

    This isn't about me or my history with other players here, or about whatever JagdPanther may have done in the past and his history with other players here. Please stop making it personal. This post is about selective punishment. Whether or not something will be done is up to you. Just look at the comments I've gotten so far. I will say this, at least Voss tried to see things from my perspective and wasn't 100% dismissive after hearing me out, and I genuinely appreciate that. From others in a position to actually do something, all I have gotten are excuses and passive aggressive comments. I've been told I am having a melt down. I have been accused of harassment. My concerns have been dismissed as "baseless" and "nonsensical". It's all good because all it does is confirm what I already suspected in the first place.

    Someone asked what I hope to get out of this. What's my end goal. That would be up to you to decide. If all you do is acknowledge your implicit and explicit biases, then that would be a win for the community.

    And no, I don't want anyone removed as a mod. Why would they remove an unpaid volunteer for doing an incomplete job? It's still half the job done for free.

    You have been incredibly dismissive from the very start of this. Yes, we get this is is a unpaid volunteer position that you all chose to do. That doesn't mean that people aren't allowed to voice legitimate concerns.

    This isn't an attack for no reason. This isn't a baseless mod abuse accusation. And no, I don't believe it was sarcasm when he admitted to not liking JagdPanther and then directed me to report people I don't like "too".

    Was he also being sarcastic when he told JagdPanther not to appeal? And don't bother to respond if all you're going to do is slip in another insult.

    I didn't know it was against the rules to post in a thread that you are not part of, in that section. Then the admin told me so, and I edited the comment and apologized. There's no need to even bring that up here because it's not even relevant, unless your aim is to just discredit me as a bad person or something.

    Ahh. That's interesting, but how is it any different than targeting default names? Which I believe someone was permabanned for.

    Not asking you directly, it was a rhetorical question. It just seems to me that name targeting of any kind would be against the rules, but I guess that only applies to defaults.

    If they use the same name over and over they can't accuse you of "witch hunting" them. Because they chose to give up their anonymity.
    That's name targeting and I believe that's against the rules. You can't just decide to execute someone based on their name without even hearing their claim.

    However, an argument can be made if the name you target -prefer evil roles. But if that's the case then they probably deserve to be executed for picking the same name all the time.

    So maybe you're right, but only in certain situations?
