It's not. It's highly justified. You have to be proactive sometimes too as a mod.

RVLG,
We appreciate you hosting a game. But frankly you need to continue. It doesn't matter if someone was banned, if they suicided, if they were mean etc. the game has to go on. We cannot slow down the many for the few, that ruins the fairness and interest for active players.
The game has gone afk for too long now. Sure, RL happens and sometimes there are delays, but that should not be happening every time.
You need to decide what you can commit to and then commit to it. If 30 hours is too quick, then make it 48 or 72 or one week or whatever, but commit to it and follow through.

Yep let's have some fun. And, let's be careful about combat because there is only the GM's whims to protect us.

People may leave quickly because they know there is no auto afk repick. You could make it so that the second one is 30 secs.

I'd say give it at least 1 minute. But yeah, an auto repick for an afk host would be a good idea methinks.

So,
It sounds to me like you really don't know how your system works because you haven't decided on a lot of things, and that it mostly just works by Magical Tea Party. That's fine, but it'd be better if this were explicitly stated.
10. Can you define how respawn works, how often it happens, etc.?

5. Do stats affect skill use. If so how?
6. Do # of actions affect combat?
7. Can you explain how combat works?
8. Are we allowed to pk?
9. Can you share the chart which shows the point progression foe stats and skills and how much you need of each to get better?

Just a few notes/Comments/questions.
1. Your Note:
Final Note : You can't do an action when you're moving to a different tile, you must wait for the next round.
I'd like to ask you to reconsider this. This nerfs intelligence. If you're trekking through the wilderness, trying to explore, you really want to be able to explore your current square and the square you move to.
2. How does damage work? If I have 1 HP am I screwed?
3. I'm assuming you get some bonus every 5 points in something for stats and skills, can you go into detail about this?
4. How do you level up and improve your skills ingame? How difficult is it to do so?
Just a few notes/Comments/questions.
You're comparing hard plastic casings, metal, wires and mechanics with towels?:weird:
I'm just trying to use a little humor to highlight 2 metrics that don't scale properly. Pistols and towels do not get proportionally heavier the better they are, that is to say they're not like swords or melee weapons where a measure of the effectiveness (of a swing for instance) is strongly tied to the weight.
I see what you mean. Imagine however if this game was stuck in a Hi-Tech 80's when things are like our age, but more robust technology.
Would that help explaining the weight issue of pistols? I'm just trying.
That might make more sense if you were trying to say that all guns were powered by lasers that required very heavy portable power sources. But, you have bullets here.
Pistol
Revolver- Weight (2) Str 2
Small Pistol- Weight 2.5) Str 3
Large Pistol- Weight (5) Str 4
Automatic Pistol- Weight (5 - 10) Str 7
Revolver : Light enough to be wielded by default. +1 strength for the next tier, +1 strength for the next one and then +3 for the last one.
I'm sorry, but is this an issue?
I'm thinking that pistols are used one handed and that it have to be held up without shaking it up and down due to lack of strength.
Edit : An example is an Uzi. It's an one-handed pistol and can be dual-wielded. It's weight is average 3.5kg, on a single hand and it have to be held up to accurately aim. If you're not strong enough, the weight will be quite the burden to use.
RVLG,
You can make any arbitrary metrics for anything. For example: Handcloth Weight 1 (Str 2), Washcloth Weight 2 (Str 3), Towel Weight 3 (Str 4), Body Towel Weight 4 (Str 5), Beach Towel Weight 10 (Str 15).
Yes, it's an issue because even old women can hold guns. See these links for weights , here, and here. The second link is of an Auto Glock. You'll notice the weights of these even the automatic ones do not exceed 2.5 pounds! If my elderly mother-in-law can hold my 33 lbs child, she can use a 2.5 lb pistol!
People can, should, and do hold their pistols with two hands! Even your Uzi probably should be held with two hands. We're not talking about people holding these things up all day long, we're talking about them holding them up to fire a few rounds. That's likely the length of a combat here.

What about the bat?
Also I disagree on Str requirements for pistols. They are light to begin with.
You'll need to explain skill levels for characters now. You should also explain what each point of each stat gives us.

Hi RLVG,
None of your posts make sense to me without the context. To understand what we give up, I'd need to have scenarios with different items sets, the weight of each item, and how they add up. Also light medium heavy doesn't tell me weight.

I simply don't want perfectly sound setups mixed in with any of the SOTD section (something any player would want as well). All three are garbage. This many setups in SOTD are good setups
We don't need a separate section for Account setups.
My setups can be "tested" and evaluated and whatever all need be to "make the cut" of having their own section. That's up to the moderation and/or polls.
I'm simply saying: I will not take the hours and hours of time doing this (i.e. making each setup, tweaking each one, posting them in the format requested by the web site, etc.)

You're being a hypocrite here. You've accused SOTD makers of not testing setups (which is false) and they do not know what a good setup is.
Again, no one is omniscient and you don't know what the ideal is necessarily even after testing. If you're not testing, then you lack some sincerity in trying to provide "good setups" to the community.
I'm WILLING to do this work. I simply want the moderation's word that they won't be thrown in with the garbage that the SOTD sections are. Players deserve to know what they are getting.
Again, there's little value to a completely new section called "Account Setups". As stated before, if you have good contributions to make, go make them!
SOTD is a complete mixture, in every section, with each setup having little to do with one another, and the majority of them being either pure random dice-rolling wastes of time, like playing "Chutes and Ladders", or, so pre-set that a role call would win the game, or, stacked hard for a particular side; all of which defeats the purpose of logic and deceit in "Mafia".
This has already been responded to, there's a lot of strategy in most of these setups. You would discover it if you weren't breaking the spirit of the game and leavetraining and insist that the game can only be played in the ways you preconceived.
If anyone else wants to help me out, I'd be more than accepting. I just want to make sure all modifications to any setups of this particular section are agreed upon together by me and anyone helping. I already have a detailed idea and all reasoning of each setup right now though. I've played long enough and set up the game (and modified in-game when a player or two or three drop or leave) to know what it takes to make a good game.
Why don't you make a Setup Creation Brainstorming Thread and ask for feedback?

We don't need a separate section for Account setups.

I'm simply saying: I will not take the hours and hours of time doing this (i.e. making each setup, tweaking each one, posting them in the format requested by the web site, etc.)

It would be really nice to be able to submit CLUE saves, that is to say saves where roles are not revealed after death. We really need this as a Global Option. Right now, saving a clue save does nothing.

Mugy7 has admitted before that he does not follow the rules all the way. We have mods in this thread admitting they will enforce rules as they see fit.

I don't understand why we have rules when the mods openly claim they will not follow them and reassure us that they are benevolent dictators.
Just do away with rules and say be nice but trust us because we are generally nice and fair people.

Xentios,
I'm sure Dark Revenant saw your original post. Expand your mind a bit. There's no "setup hell" around here. The main issue is that we have two different goals at hand.
Goal 1. Get a random setup from a set of setups
This is huge. Epic Mafia doesn't have this. No mafia game has this. It is very nice to not have to choose a setup and get surprised by what you get.
Goal 2. Be able to choose from more Predefined Setups
SC2 Mafia already has several Predefined setups. This is great. SOTD just adds more options to this. People also want to be able to choose from a larger list of setups to play the game with.
Proposed Solution
SOTD should open up a menu. It should list every setup in the SOTD system and have checkboxes for include/exclude just like roles do. Every Setup should have an adjustable weight just like roles do. In this way, you can change Dark Revenants weights, excluding some setups you don't like, but leave the others for random generation and so forth. When you type -save, you would save your presets for SOTD games as well as roles.
In this way you leave the arbitrariness of calling a Setup Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, etc. while allowing people to directly choose the SOTD they want to play while letting them adjust the random parameters of the SOTDs they will potentially get.

apothecary is awesome. Poisoning adds an interesting mechanic. I'd urge you all to consider it.

Let's actually just play the game before we go making changes.

Again, you're speaking from ignorance. Testing means played a version of the setup. All my saves have been tested many times. Most saves submitted by others fall under this category of lots of testing as well.
You're shifting the goalposts. I'll add another one.
8. Popularity is not balance
Seriously, don't shift the goal posts and get popularity and balance mixed up. My save Parliament is the most balanced setup of all by definition. All sides have a roughly equal chance of winning. Some people like it.; Some people don't, but this has nothing to do with the setup's inherent balance.
9. Not every setup is for everyone and that's good.
10. No one is omniscient
You speak with a lot of authority on things you don't know yet. You don't know if a setup is balanced or popular untilit gets tested and played.
Some people like john rambo. Some don't. Some people Like chicago. Some don't. More setups allow more ways to play the game for different people. Just because some people may not like a particular setup does not make that setup unbalanced or "bad".
