You seem to put the well-being of the State as an independent entity over the well-being of its citizens (if civil liberties are no longer a priority for the citizens, they're screwed lol). That looks dangerous to me, because it's rather close to authoritarianism, and even potentially leading to fascism. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling you a fascist (in fact, you seem to be rather left-wing), but rather saying that your ideas remove extremely important barriers that prevent the rise of authoritarianism.

I mostly agree about your stuff on Canada, as far as my knowledge of that country goes. My only real objection here would be that building a huge pipeline is only patching the huge, worldwide issue of the lack of renewable energy sources. Taking some money to actually fund research on this field would fix a lot of issues. You can even fund the oil extraction companies conditionally: give them a lot of money, and make sure that they significantly fund research on renewable energy sources with their profits from oil extraction, and then allow them to be the transition between oil and renewable energy. This way, the economy isn't really hurt, the companies aren't either, and the environmental benefits are still there.
  5. ►►Re: The US can maintain ite superpower status with these 6 easy tips and tricks!◄◄

I completely agree with 4, 5 and 6 (like really, that's just common sense to me but it doesn't seem to be what a lot of American think, and we'd both be called commies by some people for this...), but 1, 2 and 3 are so dangerous it makes me not want to say I agree with the post lol.

    1. "Stop glorifying the importance of civil liberties"... uh, no, because that's like saying "stop glorifying freedom", and that can only lead to very bad things. It's just that getting a vaccine in a deadly pandemic isn't a question of liberty anymore: you don't have the liberty of being rather likely to cause the death of people, including your own, because that's directly against the right of not getting harmed by your fellow citizens. It's true that the "BUT MY FREEDOM!" anti-vaccine argument is bad in a pandemic, but the problem definetly isn't that civil liberties are being glorified. It's that they're being artificially extended to things they cannot be extended to for security reasons (anarchy doesn't work partially because of this).

    2. Nah. When a government is oppressing its citizens, it can, should and will eventually be overthrown by them. It definetly is ok to push back against tyrants... if they are tyrants. Issues arise when wise governments are painted as tyrants when they aren't (like governments telling people to wear a mask). The anti-intellectualism part you're talking about is actually due to a severe lack of education; this argument is perfectly valid, but it pertains to point 4 much more than to point 2.

    3. Don't do what you are criticizing religion for: being dogmatic. Yes, religion should not infringe on freedom, but freedom implies that religion is tolerated, too. "if politicians are mixing [church and state] together, they can be removed from positions of power and replaced." is a dangerous stance, because if people have been electing those who will respect their religious values, as long as the politicians don't infringe on federal rights, where is the general issue? The issues that may arise from such religious meddling should be treated on a case by case basis instead of being seen as a general issue.

Also, this is in serious discussion :P let's try to keep some seriousness in it

[Ready for Review] ►►Re: S-FM The Fooling Party (13P)◄◄

Suggestion for Hunter: Two kill charges, loses all charges if he kills a town-aligned player. Feel free to disregard if you don't like it. I just think it's a good way to promote good and relatively cautious play while giving more opportunities to the Hunter.

What does "You can also order Triad not to move" mean in the Dragon Head's rolecard? Please clarify. I assume it simply means "you may decide not to kill anyone"?

Sciencist being a town-only role seems good. It's not that strong, but it allows, under specific circumstances that are not extremely easily achievable or predictable, to self-confirm and to have potentially interesting information.

Please remove the Inspector's solo slot from the feedback list (the old role is still there).

It'd be a good idea to clarify whether roles can appear or not in the Random slots (can citizens and bus drivers appear in Town Random?).

The game's balance seems to be around an acceptable average balance point now. Given the numerous possibilities this setup can lead to, I can only advise to make sure that the composition that will be played is balanced, and to balance or rebalance it manually if the need arises. This looks like a very fun setup to play, by the way. Soon ready to be approved.

Although I completely agree with this (and already gave my arguments several times, here and on the other site that started the trend, and they included exactly that), I think you're confusing this, which pertains to FM, and the mod (arcade map on sc2). It's not the same game :P.

About bodyguarding: will the original kill target survive?

The very strong investigative roles that detect exact roles or alignments could easily be nerfed and perhaps replaced by lookouts and detectives.
As for the amount of self-confirmable roles, you don't necessarily have to delete them. You could add a Triad counterpart to some of them, perhaps even leaving only the Military as a self-confirmable role. For example, a triad role who can lock doors, and another one who can roleblock people are two good choices to prevent self-confirming madness.

Indeed, reducing the strenght of the TPRs' feedback is a good idea, especially in that mindset.

I suggest the first option (adding a Town Random, which makes the setup a 13P, and tweaking rolecards for balance and enjoyment). The 4th triad slot is interesting, both because it's random and can be a lot of roles (which allows you to make it an anti-self confirmable slot) and because it makes the Dragon Head have to be even more cautious with their kills.
I also suggest to replace the Deciever with a Triad Random slot if you are going for the anti-self confirmable Triad equivalent of Town roles balance strategy. It would create more mess if people were to want to confirm everyone through their roles, which is a good thing. Feel free to disagree, by the way; if you do, we'll discuss the reasons of your disagreement.

So, renaming roles to fit a theme? I think that's confusing. Using lore as a way to give clues to players? I've been burned in big fms by other players using flavor as evidence.

I'm also not a fan of DnD so that's where part of this comes from.

Not yucking on anyone's yum of role playing though! I'm seeing the thread on people's rpg, so i'm going to emphasize that this is just me.
Huh, I guess this supports Banana's point that it's not for everyone. It's rather surprising that people are annoyed by roleplay, but that's good to know ^^

I may regret saying this, but I'm fully supporting lore-heavy games personally, including (but not limited to) the anti-vaxxer game lol

[Ready for Review] ►►Re: S-FM The Fooling Party (12P)◄◄

I'll be reviewing this setup; sorry for the stand-by status.

It is noted that your intent is to have a power role heavy setup with a lot of chaos; I will take this into account. The setup will probably have to be marked as Experimental at the end of the reviewing process so that people know what they're going into if they sign for this setup or if they want to host it.

It's ok to choose the composition in whatever way you want to pick them, as long as the final result is a balanced setup composition.

Although the setup is highly unstable per its very nature, Triad seems to have the upper hand in most situations here. I'd suggest adding a hidden Town member to the game. This would not hurt the setup's spirit and would preserve the balance.

It definetly is a Town advantage, but I think he meant that associative reads are much harder to use, if it's even possible to use them, when scums don't know eachother.

Does Bus Driver give feedback to his targets? Please specify in the rolecard.
If the War Surgeon's bodyguarded target is attacked, what happens exactly? Also, what is the interaction between War Surgeon bodyguarding a target and the target being shot by a Sniper? Please specify these things in the rolecards.

Balance note: A significant amount of town roles are self-confirmable; this should be taken into account when considering the final balance of the composition to avoid having something like 4 self-confirmable townies :P.

    More to come later.

Entering the Tavern, I see a lady standing on a table and drinking a liquid of a dubious color with one hand and holding her open laptop with the other, and laughing frantically. "Huh, this will surely be an interesting night", I tell myself, while ordering pineapple pizza with white chocolate. The bartender looks at me like I'm insane for some reason, and covers up a laugh. I don't really understand why he's doing that, and decide to carry on. I order the cheapest drink and sit where I can quietly observe the scene that so intrigued me when I entered this place.

After a while, my thoughts and my eyes wander and see someone with a strange look, almost as if he, or it?, were metallic. He... it... this is staring at a wall. I fugitively wonder what those drinks contain, but go back to enjoying my drink, which tastes rather good for such a cheap thing.

I think this will be a disincentive for God to use his ability on a player too early on in the day - nobody wants to wait 3 weeks for a flip. So you need to bear that in mind also.
Since God can confirm himself by doing so and since a Doctor exists (but cannot heal the same person twice to avoid an immortal God), I would say that is only fair. The ability is still in the hands of a townie. Also, I'm glad that it will be a disincentive to smite at the very start of the day lol, because that's not the point! Do you still disagree? I can still change it.

As specified in the Mechanics, scum have a factional kill.

    Amendment of the verdict

After internal discussion prompted by the community's feedback, BananaCucho's punishment has been reduced to a simple warning for personal attacks. Although he did personally attack Jan, Rotholfo and the host, and that this is not something that is acceptable, the circumstances in which this happened do make it less damning than we originally thought.

We maintain that Banana attacked Jan strongly, even compared to others; attacking him even after he stated he was quitting because of toxicity was definetly overboard and unique to Banana. Proof: https://www.sc2mafia.com/forum/showt...508#post874508
However, Jan seems not to have taken offense about it after the game, and Banana was not the only contributor to his departure; there was a misjudgement from staff on the gravity of this point.

We also maintain that Banana's attacks against Rotholfo were not warranted by Rotholfo's behavior: calling someone a moron/idiot thrice because he's wrong is not ok, and Rotholfo had not told Banana he had anger issues at that point.
Proof: https://www.sc2mafia.com/forum/showt...l=1#post874152 and the posts after it.
However, it seems that Banana actively tried to avoid being toxic at Rotholfo after Rotholfo told him that, which shows that he did make efforts to limit toxicity and didn't intend to insult him. This matters a lot, because the main point of moderation is to ensure that future games go well.

As for insulting the host, we understand that being told during a game that you specifically will be infracted, especially without being judged by the staff team beforehand, can generate justified anger. Although insulting isn't the solution (posting an appeal or a report in the appropriate forum is), given the circumstances in which this happened and since it involves a member of staff making serious mistakes, we are more lenient on that point.

Although the original judgement was done in good faith, people in post-game chat have brought to our attention that some things the staff considered as unacceptable were considered by the community as rather soft issues. The rules and the way staff enforces them are here to make the community better and funner, and they have to follow the community's mentality to a reasonable extent in order to achieve this goal. This is why Banana's punishment is changed to a warning. I apologize in the name of staff for the aforementioned disparity between the community's will and the staff's first action, and for the drama this first action created.
I'd also like to thank the community and especially Banana himself for remaining civil in their criticism. That is highly appreciated, and I think staff will agree about this. The debate was actually constructive, and allowed us to make some changes to the way similar situations are handled.

I hope that we can move forward to the next game without bad feelings, that we can all have fun there, and that we'll see @BananaCucho in it too

I think Aamirus was just giving her civil input as a community member here, and that is welcomed, like all civil input from all community members here, including Banana (despite his disagreement with the punishment, he has been speaking in a civil manner, and I do think that is noteworthy and thank him for it).
@Stealthbomber16 I said AIVION and I said the same thing, not Ganelon. Ganelon acted without our consent, and what he said is NOT official, unlike what AIVION and myself have said here. What we said and what Ganelon said is indeed contradictory, yes, and the staff's position consists only in what AIVION and I said.

Note that the concerns of the community on Banana's punishment are being discussed internally at the moment.

I'm very curious as to the level of communication happening behind the scenes here. Two of the reasons you mention here were completely disregarded from the official message given by the FM staff team literally less than 24 hours ago. Ganelon, another member of the staff team, also disregards the posts against Rotholfo (we still have no idea who this person is!), giving us three members on the FM staff team with completely different messages?!

I'm sorry but what the hell is happening here? Where is the unified decision coming from? You all completely agree on the same punishment but you have no consensus as to WHY this is happening.
The accusations of having made those players quit are wrong, and they have indeed not been taken into account in the punishment; Ganelon acted without prior discussion with the rest of the staff, and his calls are NOT the official ones. Sorry for the confusion caused by this.
However, it isn't because Jan didn't quit the game because of Banana in the end that Banana's actions are alright. It's just that he's not being punished for having made him quit because that didn't happen. There was no contradiction between what I said and what AIVION posted.
