A couple of players have temporarily unsigned due to scheduling conflicts. I've updated the post with the ones that have notified me. If you won't be able to play until after a certain date due to your schedule, and are currently signed, let me know so I can update the post.

If you haven't signed because of a busy schedule, but will be free after a certain date and wish to auto-sign for the game after that date, I can also add you to the post.

What if two bodyguards protect one person, but that person gets a visit from the Godfather on the same night who has an unsuspecting bodyguard on him, how many bodyguards die?

Another scenario, two bodyguards protect a vigilante who attacks a veteran at night who has a hapless bodyguard on him, how many people die?
I am by no means a definitive source on this, but I believe the way it works is that:

3 BG protect Mayor, GF attacks = 1 Bodyguard dies, GF dies. The bodyguard dies is, for most purposes, random. But I believe whichever BG is in the lowest numbered lobby slot will be the one that dies. (Lobby slot is different from the in-game numbered slot. It's the order of players in the lobby, not in game)

Second case I believe the bodyguard protecting the mayor dies and the godfather dies. I do not think that a bodyguard can protect someone from another bodyguard.

Third case - the Veteran does not die, he cannot die on alert except to Arsonist burn (Or Jester suicide iirc). So the Veteran lives. The bodyguard duels the veteran to protect the vig, so the vig lives. Just the bodyguard dies in a duel with the veteran.

You appear online in every server you're in as long as you have Discord running.
Leaving Discord running in the background nearly 24/7 is fairly common.

Meaning he's just some random person who has a username that starts with A so they appear at the top of the online user list.

You might have to clarify what you mean by "balance to be expected" setup

The role distribution between the alignments will be soft-balanced (will generate somewhere between 3-5 setups randomly and choose the most balanced one. Exact number TBD, but it will be known before the game starts how many setups I will be picking from). Player assignment into slots will be purely randomized.

Once Upon a Town in the West

This is a Season 7 Ladder Game! The stakes are higher! The competition, fierce!

All players are still welcome, just make sure to bring your A-game!

Also Note: As this is a ladder game. Activity rules will be enforced more strictly than usual.

Click here for more information on Season 7 of the FM Ladder

Yes, I am aware that The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is a different movie than Once Upon a Time in the West
The small, dusty, backwater town of Flagstone was a hidden gem of the wild west to those that called it home. It all changed when the discovery of gold in Flagstone's foothills lead to a string of murders. Four of the townsfolk formed a makeshift gang of bandits - conspiring to kill off the rest of the town to take the golden fortunes for themselves.

Now will the people of Flagstone root out these murderous traitors in time? Or will the bandits seize the town's fortunes for themselves?

Only time will tell... until then. Stay vigilant, and watch your back.

    Spoiler : Setup :

    Overview
The setup follows the small-town rules, which are as follows:

    - Each player will be randomly assigned both ONE character role and ONE faction role from the list below. Every one of the thirteen given character roles will appear EXACTLY once upon game startup

-Factions roles determine the players win condition, in addition to any other abilities they might get, such as bandit night kills. Faction roles are private.

-Character roles give each player additional abilities to assist them, such as being able to heal players as the doctor. Character roles have no effect on alignment. Character roles are public, which means at the beginning of day 1, the character role assigned to each player will be revealed to everyone. As such, everyone will know which player was given the doctor ability, but will not know whether the doctor is pro-town or pro-bandit.

Spoiler : Specific Role Descriptions :

    Character Role Descriptions

    Mayor

    • Your vote counts as 2 votes for the purposes of lynching
    • You are NOT confirmed town

    Doctor

    • Protect 1 person each night from death
    • Protects target against bandit and vigilante kills. Does not protect against jailor executions or veteran/bodyguard kills.
    • No feedback is given or received for a successful heal

    Lookout

    • Watch over someone each night, seeing which people target that person
    • Sees all people who visit your target, regardless of where they appear on the OoO

    Compulsive Veteran

    • Go on alert each night, killing anyone who targets you
    • You MUST go on alert and have unlimited charges
    • Kills through this ability bypass any protection/healing
    • You are immune to bandit and vigilante kills. You are not immune to bodyguard kills or jailor executions.
    • You do not kill anyone who targets you with a day action, and being jailed prevents you from going on alert.

    Survivalist

    • Automatically protect yourself each night, giving yourself immunity.
    • If you are targeted by a bandit or vigilante kill, you do not die. Instead, your receive feedback that you were targeted by a kill, and have your role converted to citizen (losing all character abilities, but not faction abilities)
    • You are not immune to jailor executions or veteran/bodyguard kills.

    Vigilante

    • May kill 1 target on any given night
    • If a town aligned member is successfully killed using this action, your role is converted to citizen (losing all character abilities, but not faction abilities).
    • Aside from this restriction, you have unlimited shots

    Grave Digger

    • Once per day, you may target any character in the graveyard, gaining all of their CHARACTER abilities for the rest of that day and the following night.
    • Survivalists or vigilantes who died as citizens are treated as having no character ability.
    • Saving yourself as a survivalist or killing a town aligned character as a vigilante will permanently convert you to a citizen (losing all character abilities, but not faction abilities).
    • You may NOT target a dead mayor, all other roles are fair game.

    Jailor

    • Once per day, you may target any character to be jailed
    • If, and only if, no lynch occurs on that day, target character will jailed by you during the following night.
    • You may communicate with jailed characters during the night, and jailed characters are role blocked and unable to join any other night chats.
    • Jailed characters are NOT protected against other attacks.
    • You may execute a jailed character at the end of the night, bypassing all healings and immunities.
    • You have unlimited executions

    Escort

    • Each night, you may target 1 person to be role-blocked, preventing any night actions.
    • Can not prevent jailor executions, which are performed earlier in the OoO.
    • No feedback is given to the target from this ability.

    Card Sharp

    • Each day, you may target up to 4 people (including yourself) to invite to a card game.
    • The following night, all people targeted will form a night chat.
    • You may target less then 4 people.
    • If you do not target yourself, you will not be included in the chat.
    • Jailed people will not be able to join the chat.
    • You may not setup a night chat if you are jailed or dead.

    Coach Driver

    • Each night, target 2 people to be swapped.
    • All other actions targeting one of the swapped persons will instead target the other person.
    • Does not affect jailor executions or escort roleblocks, which occur earlier in the OoO.
    • No feedback is given to either of the swapped individuals.

    Bodyguard

    • Target 1 person each night, protecting them.
    • If the protected individual is targeted by a bandit or vigilante attack, they do not die. Instead both you and the attacker die.
    • Both of these deaths cannot be prevented by any means.
    • Protection does not trigger on jailor executions or veteran kills.
    • No feedback will be given for a successful protection.

    Sheriff

    • Target 1 person each night to investigate
    • If the target has a mafioso faction role, you will be informed they appear to be bandit aligned.
    • If the target has a town faction role, you will be informed they appear town aligned.

    Faction Roles

    Bandit

    • You are aligned with the bandits. You win when all town aligned members are dead and at least one bandit aligned member is still alive.
    • You know the identities of all other bandit-aligned players, and may chat with them each night.
    • Each night, one member of the bandits may kill a target player as a free action, in addition to any character actions.

    Town

    • You are aligned with the town. You win when all bandit aligned members are dead and at least one town aligned member is still alive.
    • You have no additional abilities (aside from your character ability)

    Setup Specific Rules:

    1. Blackout: To give the bandits more freedom with who they target with their character abilities, no feedback will be given for the following roles which usually do give feedback: Escort, Coach Driver, Doctor and Bodyguard.
    2. Free faction kills: For the same reason as blackout, the bandit member who carries out the faction kill may still use any character night actions.
    3. Longer Day 1: Day 1 will be 72 hours. Future days will be 48 hours. Nights will be a constant 24 hours.

    Other Rules:

    1. All Standard FM Rules apply unless stated otherwise.
    2. All Ladder Rules apply unless stated otherwise.

    Order of operations (OoO):
    Start of Night:

    1. Jailing
    2. Card Sharp sets up a night chat
    3. All night chats open

    End of night

    1. Jailor executes
    2. Veteran goes on alert, Survivalist protects himself
    3. Lookout goes into position
    4. Escort roleblocks
    5. Coach driver switches targets
    6. Bodyguard protects
    7. Doctor protects
    8. Kills/Investigation Feedback

NO Self Targeting unless otherwise specified

Majority (51%) of available votes with hammer.
    Factional Kill is Optional
High Noon Tiebreaker to be used in Stalemates

    Protection Priority:
    1) Bodyguard
    2) Survivalist
    3) Doctor

Any form of protection protects against an unlimited number of applicable attacks.

    General Setup Questions

Does the game end if bandits control 50% of the vote?
No. Bandits win when all town aligned players are dead or there is nothing that can stop that from happening. (Example 2v2 scenario where the game continues: Town Jailor, Town Escort, Bandit Not-Veteran x2)

    Mayor

Mayor and two other players are alive in final 3, how many votes to hammer?
51% of the votes in play. Therefore 3 votes.

    Lookout

Does the Lookout die if they target the Veteran?
    Yes.

Does the Jailor visit their target, or does their target visit the Jailor?
    The Jailor visits their target.

The Lookout comes before the Escort in OoO, does that mean they cannot be roleblocked?
The Lookout's visitation cannot be roleblocked, but a roleblocked Lookout would receive no investigative feedback.

Does the Lookout see any interactions caused by the Card Sharp?
    No.

    Veteran

    Who can roleblock the Veteran?
The Jailor can, the Escort cannot.

    Survivalist

    Who can roleblock the Survivalist?
The Jailor can, the Escort cannot.

The Survivalist gets attacked by the Bandits, and healed by the Doctor. What happens?
The Survivalist gets converted to Citizen.

The Survivalist is a Bandit and duels the Bodyguard. The Survivalist also gets attacked by the Vigilante, what happens?
The Survivalist protects against the Vigilante shot and gets converted to Citizen.
The Survivalist and the Bodyguard both die in the duel, the Survivalist appears as Citizen in the graveyard.

    Vigilante

The Vigilante attacks a player that flips town but was also killed some other way. Do they lose their gun still?
Yes. If the Vigilante attack hits a player and that player flips town. They are converted to Citizen, regardless of how many other times that player was attacked.

The Vigilante kills themselves due to the Coach Driver. If the Vigilante is town, do they appear in the graveyard as a Citizen becuase they killed a town?
No - the Coach Driver is credited as the killer in this case and the Vigilante flips as Vigilante.

    Grave Digger

Is the role the Grave Digger chose publicly announced?
    No.

Does Jailing prevent the Grave Digger from assuming their role?
    No.

If the Grave Digger targets the Jailor/Card Sharp, can they use their day actions on the same day?
    Yes.

    Escort

What investigative feedback does a roleblocked Sheriff/Lookout receive?
    They receive no feedback.

    Card Sharp

Do players invited to a card game know who else was invited to the game?
No. They will know who is able to attend the game, but only the Card Sharp will be told if a player cannot attend due to being jailed. The Card Sharp receives this information even if they did not invite themselves to the game.

    Coach Driver

The Veteran is swapped with the Mayor by the Coach Driver. The Doctor, the Lookout, the Vigilante, the Escort, the Bodyguard, the Sheriff, and the Survivalist Bandit all target the Mayor. The Jailor jailed the Mayor during the day and chooses to execute. The Card Sharp invited the Mayor to a card game during the day. What happens?
The Card Sharp is notified that the Mayor cannot join the card game at the start of the night.
The Mayor is jailed by the Jailor at the start of the night.
The Coach Driver, the Doctor, the Vigilante, and the Sheriff all die to the Veteran.
The Survivalist and the Bodyguard die to both the Veteran and the Bodyguard duel.
The Lookout sees the Coach Driver, the Escort, and the Jailor visit the Mayor.
The Mayor is roleblocked by the Escort.
The Mayor is executed by the Jailor.

Can the Doctor self-heal / the Bodyguard self-guard with the Coach Driver's help?
    Yes.

What happens if a Vigilante/Bandit is swapped with their kill target?
The Vigilante/Bandit dies - ran over by a coach.

Does the Survivalist's vest protect against being ran over by a coach?
    Yes.
    Optional Reading:
Spoiler : High Noon Tiebreaker :

If the game reaches any sort of stalemate scenario, then the High Noon tiebreaker can be invoked either by the host or by the bandits.

    Host-Invoked Tiebreaker
If the game reaches a stalemate deemed by the host, then the host may invoke the high noon tiebreaker at their discretion.

Example: Town Card Sharp, Town Lookout, Town Doctor, Bandit Survivalist
There is no way to gain any information on who the bandit is as long as the bandit holds their night kill.
Town chooses to not eliminate since they prefer final 3 LYLO over final 4 MYLO.
The bandit chooses to not kill because they prefer final 4 MYLO over final 3 LYLO.
The host resolves this deadlock by invoking the High Noon Tiebreaker.
Invalid Example: Town Card Sharp, Town Lookout, Town Doctor, Bandit Sheriff
With a sheriff alive, there is a way to gain information on who the bandit is - even though the Sheriff is the bandit. Therefore High Noon tiebreaker will not be invoked.
    Example: Town Veteran, Bandit Sheriff
The two have no way of killing each other. Therefore the tiebreaker will be invoked.
    Bandit-Invoked Tiebreaker
    Requirements:
    - Bandits control exactly 50% of the vote
    - Town does NOT have any ways to eliminate any bandits as long as the bandits hold their night kill
    - Town does have ways of stopping the bandits from guaranteeing victory

    Mandatory if:
    - The requirements to invoke the tiebreaker have been met two nights in a row and the bandits chose to
hold the night kill the first night without invoking the tiebreaker. On the second night, the bandits must
either invoke the tiebreaker OR make a night kill.

Example: Town Doctor, Town Coach Driver, Bandit Sheriff, Bandit Card Sharp.
The Doctor heals the Coach Driver.
The Coach Driver randomly chooses one of the following options:
    - Don't swap the doctor.
    - Swap the Doctor with the Sheriff.
    - Swap the Doctor with the Card Sharp.

The Bandits control 50% of the vote. Town has no way to kill the Bandits if they hold their night kill, but the Bandits have only a 1 in 3 chance of successfully killing the Doctor and a 2 in 3 chance of killing a teammate if they use their night kill - therefore victory cannot be guaranteed. Therefore the bandits have the option to invoke the High Noon Tie breaker rather than gambling on the night kill.
    Tiebreaker
If the Tiebreaker has been invoked then it will be announced at SoD. The thread will remain locked but each player's vote is replaced with a 1-shot day pistol.

23 hours and 55 minutes after SoD, the thread will unlock. High Noon is half way through the game day - 24 hours after SoD.

If a player posts in the thread before High Noon, then they count as being distracted, too busy talking rather than staring dramatically during the wild west standoff. They won't be able to shoot until 1 minute after High Noon.

If a player shoots before High Noon, then their gun jams, and they must unjam it. They won't be able to shoot until 1 minute after High Noon.

If a player is shot before they take their shot - then their shot does not go off.

    Shots kill guaranteed.

Success and order of shots is based on their timestamp and order as they appear on the forums.

    Example:
Marshmallow Marshall and Auwt are town.
    AIVION and PQRnHack are bandits.

SoD is at 4 PM on Saturday.
Saturday at 4 PM the High Noon Tiebreaker is announced, the thread remains locked.
Sunday at 3:55 PM the thread unlocks.

Marshmallow Marshall shoots AIVION at 3:59:59 PM
Auwt shoots PQRnHack at 4:00:00 PM
PQRnHack shoots Marshmallow Marshall at 4:00:01 PM
AIVION shoots Auwt at 4:00:02 PM

After the dust settles, MM's gun jammed because he shot too early. PQRnHack dies to Auwt, so his shot on MM does not go through. Auwt dies to AIVION. AIVION and MM are left. MM's gun unjams at 4:01 PM and MM shoots AIVION, MM is the lone survivor and town wins.
Note: This game is functionally identical to the Original Setup, the only changes were renaming Networker to Card Sharp and Bus Driver to Coach Driver to fit the Wild West theme.

Had a dead-on read on all three mafia from day 2 onwards.

Before this game Auwt had only been town in one other game in something crazy like the last 9 months. That one other game where he was town was the previous Silent Night - where town ended up losing after Auwt was killed by Janitor on the second night.

How poetic for Auwt to carry town to victory in the same Silent Night setup!

    Murder in the Mid-Atlantic

    CRITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT

A player has reached out to me to inform me that they are unable to see images in posts that are uploaded using the [[*^*^*^]] tags.

I am also unable to see images included in such posts. This seems to be an issue with forum permissions restricting which users have permission to view attachments.

Until an admin can resolve this issue, use of the ATTACH tag is strictly forbidden. All players in the game must have access to the same information in each post - only some users being able to see images is akin to using password protected posts.

Please use the IMG tag instead.

In order of most likely to least likely causes of your problem:
    1) Some random driver throwing a tantrum
    2) Your graphics card
    3) Some other minor bug with your hardware/software that you shouldn't worry about unless it becomes a recurring thing
    4) The SC2 Client
    5) Gnomes
    6) An issue with the mafia map itself

If it's not a recurring issue, don't worry about it. If it is a recurring issue, there's still likely nothing anyone on this site can do because it's very unlikely that it's because of a bug with the map

Role assignments, power role selection, Angel Lady in White target, and carols sea shanties are/were all randomly selected using the seed input given by the players (that's what the 3 characters we asked for at the start of the game were for - the setup was randomly selected with it being impossible to re-roll or alter in any way)

There are no lifeboats left. It should be fine though, when has there ever been a nautical disaster in the mid-Atlantic involving a ship with not enough lifeboats?

    Murder in the Mid-Atlantic

    Day 1

Art by Lag, narrative writing by AIVION

The S.S Silent Night was a strong and stable ship. She's barred many a storm and has been the pride of the small town’s port she's harbored to. This day was a day to remember. Her tenth anniversary voyage! The captain gleamed with pride as the passengers piled onto the ship fondly recalling his baby's maiden voyage a decade ago. The world felt wide and true as he made the announcement that the S.S Silent Night is setting sail to new horizons! Next stop... the beautiful Carribean! The roaring waves and sparkling beaches make it a beautiful destination... and the Silent Night's most famous at that. This very same voyage was where he fell into his first love – the beautiful ship. This was the voyage where it all began...

"And it's where I will die." The captain choked out as he took another crowbar smash to the face, almost dislocating his jaw upon impact. Blood and a handful of teeth spewing onto the floor. It was nice... to reminisce of better times. He looked upon the face of his attackers. They were cloaked in black attire, hard to tell what other features there were as his vision began to fade. The damage they'd done to him was almost too much to keep his consciousness intact.

"Your vessel will be ours soon enough captain. And do you want to know what we’ll do to your precious little ship?” He asked, sneering down at the captain.

“We’re going to sink it! Send it straight to the bottom of the ocean, send a message, ya’know? Should teach ‘em not to ever cross us again.” The commander of these nefarious criminals jeered at the captain with almost a toothless grin. His facial features were ugly, deformed and red. Like he'd been in the sun all day.

He laughed "Maybe next time get a better security force. These men were almost too easy to slaughter!" His accomplices burst out in laughter, each taking turns kicking and smashing at the captain’s already mangled body. He coughed out another pool of blood, his time was nearly up. He looked to the entrance of his cabin... and saw.... Her.

She had a… supernatural aura to her. Dressed in all white, she looked at him with a... sincere expression as she put on a weak smile for him, but the remorse in her face was impossible to hide. "Your time is close good sir... I hope... I hope you can find peace in the afterlife. I can only hope he found peace as well..."

Her presence made him feel... happier. Despite the pain all the pain he felt, just seeing her made things feel almost right… almost. Her company made the constant feeling of death looming over him almost feel... grand. Like welcoming home an old friend who was lost at sea. He smiled one last time as he took one final blow to his cranium, splitting his skull open and extinguishing his life... And all he felt was black.

The captain’s lifeless corpse was found the next day along with a note of warning:
“We are sinking this ship. We sent out an SOS signal shortly before destroying the comms system. Unless you wish to end up like the captain here, you will board the lifeboats and leave the ship immediately.”

The bottom of the note was signed with the signet of the Crimson Rose. Mafia.

Confusion set in amongst the passengers as the news of the murder and the mafia presence on the ship spread. Confusion turned to panic as the ship’s first officer was found dead in his room. Panic turned to chaos as a third, and then a fourth, and then a fifth body were found. The message was clear: Leave if you want to live.

All but fourteen passengers evacuated the ship, taking their chances adrift in the ocean. The mafia couldn’t have expected this, a group of passengers banded together dead set on punishing those responsible for these crimes. But with the criminals hiding amongst the crowd, who could be trusted? Will the murderers be brought to Justice? Will the remaining passengers be able to overthrow the criminal scum? Or will they be killed off one by one as they turn on each other?

Only time will tell. Until then… be hopeful. And most of all… Watch your back.

Day 1 Ends at 4 PM CDT on Thursday August 26th

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Roles List

    Spoiler : :

    Passenger
You are a passenger of the SS Silent Night.
    You have no special abilities.

    Sleepwalker
You are a passenger of the SS Silent Night, unaware of your serious sleeping disorder.
Each night you will visit a random person and therefore cannot receive sea shanties.
If you are role-blocked you may receive a sea shanty that night.
Appears as a citizen to themselves. Sleepwalkers only appear in death.

    Doctor
You are a skilled medical professional who enjoys cruises.
Each night, you may save a player from being attacked.
You cannot heal heartbreak from love.
    You may not self heal.
You are notified of successful healing; your target is not.

    Private Eye
You are a professional investigator with expert sleuthing skills... who also happened to swipe the passenger manifest.
Each night, you may visit two players to determine if they share the same alignment or not.
You will not learn what exactly alignment they are.
    You may not target yourself.
    Town-Town; Mafia-Mafia; Neutral-Neutral; Actress-Mafia (regardless of acting.)

    Seer
A clairvoyant seer, you have forseen tragedy aboard the SS Silent Night.
Each night, you may target another player to perform a tarot card reading on them.
If you are killed by any means, then investigation of your death will reveal your most recent reading - exposing to the other passengers the role of the last player you targeted.
If you are unable to target a player before being killed, then no reading will be found.
The reading cannot reveal a disguised Actress.
You may target a dead player with your reading.

    Drunkard
You are a patron of the ship's bar, a frequent patron.
Each night you may visit and drunkenly sing a sea shanty to another player.
This song will contain three names and at least one of them will be a non-town player.
If your target is visiting someone at night, they will not receive the sea shanty.
You are too drunk each night to remember the names in the sea shanty come morning.
You may not sing to the same person consecutively.
Refer to the "How is a sea shanty made" in the Q&A for more specifics.

    Janitor
You are a member of organized crime seeking to hijack the ship, no matter the cost.
You will conduct the factional kill each night.
Additionally, you may once per game clean a kill on a night of your choosing.
You will learn the target's role and alignment but it will not be revealed to the town.
This action removes the target's Last Will.

    Consort
You are an elegant woman employed by the mafia to hijack the ship.
Each night, you may role-block a player causing them to take no action.
Lovers and Angels cannot be role-blocked.
If all other Mafia are dead, you will conduct the factional kill and lose your abilities.

    Actress
You are a struggling Actress who has turned to organized crime,
Each night, you may select a player. You will learn their role.
You will appear as this player's role in the Graveyard when you will die.
This ability has unlimited charges, and disguise lasts as long as you don't visit another player.
You may target a Mafia member.
Acting doesn't change your alignment for the purposes of a sea shanty being created.
If the Janitor dies, you will conduct the factional kill. You will still appear as your last target's role in the graveyard.

    Heartbreaker
You are a flirtatious, non-committal Heartbreaker.
On the first night, you may choose someone who will fall in love with you.
You will each learn each other's names but not alignment or role.
If you are killed by any means, they will die. If they are killed by any means, you are unaffected.
If you fail to pick a target before day two, you will perish.
If the Janitor dies, you will conduct the factional kill. Your target will still be in love with you.
This action does not count as a visit.
Deaths from Heartbreak occur at the end of each night.
You may target a Mafia member.
    You cannot target yourself.

    Lover
You are a stranger looking for love at sea.
On the first night, you may choose someone who will fall in love with you.
You will each learn each other's names but not alignment or role.
If you are killed by any means, they will die. If they are killed by any means, you will die.
If you fail to pick a target before day two, you will perish.
Your win condition is your lover's.
    You cannot be role-blocked.
This action does not count as a visit.
Deaths from Heartbreak occur at the end of each night.
    You cannot target yourself.

    The Lady in White
You are a mysterious passenger onboard the ship, always seen wearing pure white. You are the ghost of another passenger's loved one, watching over them at sea.
At the beginning of the game, you will be given a random player who you must protect - you will not learn their role.
You are able to use your ability during the day or at night, in order to protect your target after a delay.
If used during the day you will make your target night immune following night. If used at night, your target will become lynch-proof the following day.
You may use this ability twice and it can be used if you are dead.
You will die if your target dies.
You win if your target survives until the end of the game, regardless of whether they win.
    You cannot be role-blocked.
The action of protecting your target does not count as a visit.
Your protection stops all forms of death, even the deadly kind.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Q&A

    Spoiler : :

Q: The Lady in White's target is Lover and they fall in love, what do?
A: Lover gains the The Lady in White's win-con of seeing their target live until the end. In a sense, it becomes a weird "two person survivor."

Q: How exactly is a sea shanty created?
A: 1. Randomly pick one of eligible 'non-town players' (Mafia + The Lady in White/Lover) then pick two random players from everyone who was alive at some point the night of the sea shanty. A player's name can still appear in a sea shanty if they're dead, as long as they were killed that same night the sea shanty was created. A player's name cannot appear twice.

Q: Drunkard doesn't seem like it has a high probability of it's sea shanty actually REACHING the target?
A: This is intentional. The nature of this setup is such that on the first night only 7/14 players will be eligible normally. This number increases to 8/14 with a heartbreaker. Sea shanties can be extremely powerful. They can also be faked ;)

Q: Private Eye is OP REeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
A: Private Eye is indeed an extremely strong role. In this setup however, we're looking at 3 different factions and a role-blocker: this lowers the reliability of each check a bit.

Q: What if scum kills a lover who loved a heartbreaker who loved Stealthbomber16 who was being protected by the Lady in White??
A: All four of them die. This is the nuclear, unlikely scenario.

Q: Why does Lover get to pick their target, but the Lady in White doesn't?
A: That's just how it be.

Q: Why do Lover and Heartbreaker pick their targets on night one; isn't it normally randomly given from the beginning?
A: I think the roles would be perceived as more fun when the players can make reads as to who they want to be locked in with. For example, if someone who is almost lynched claims a power role towards the end of D1: A Heartbreaker might be inclined to love them to ensure that a town power role dies if they're lynched. Likewise, a Lover may want to target someone who is scummy in order to avoid being targeted by the Mafia.

Would you try to get a bodyguard on you so that you can continue role blocking people? Or, if you were liason, would you try to get the vigilante role blocked so that he can't shoot you?
There is a setting that can make roleblockers (Escort, Consort, Liaison) roleblock immune. There is also a setting that allows the roleblockers to detect roleblock immune targets. If both are on (as is most common) then the roleblock will fail and the escort will be notified that their target was roleblock immune (RBI for short).

Escort and Liaison should be played differently as one of them is mafia aligned and one of them is town aligned. Playing Liaison it is usually in your best interest to fake-claim some non-roleblocking role. Because if you claim Escort, you are liable to having a number of problems later on, such as:
    - Not being able to roleblock confirmed town with powerful roles (e.g vig, bus driver)
    - If the godfather dies you will become a Mafioso, losing your roleblock power and therefore be outed sooner rather than later as no one is getting roleblocked anymore
    - Not being able to roleblock the same person over and over again without looking super suspicious for doing so

In general you should try to roleblock whatever town target you think has a strong night ability, vigs are great because if you can roleblock them after they claim they will shoot someone, the vig looks very suspicious.

Escort should be played totally differently - you are a weird fusion of a power, invest, and protective role. Power since you're able to self-confirm as a roleblocker which has equity late game when there's only one mafia left making you cleared as town. Invest because most killers in the mod are toggled to be roleblock immune, so rather than preventing a kill, instead you are notified that someone is roleblock immune which gives good indication that they're a killer (or another roleblocker, there's a couple other possibilities too, but I can't remember them right now). And with a little bit of prot role mixed in since roles like Mass Murderer are never roleblock immune, therefore you can nullify their impact on the game if you find them.

Despite these abilities though, you probably shouldn't be going out of your way to try to get a bodyguard on you. You're liable to die (or be marked for death) when you target 2 of the 3 neutral killers and the bg won't stop it. Not to mention your night action in most setups isn't particularly more powerful than any of the other town roles' night actions, so you shouldn't have special priority for prot roles. Just play a standard game as a townie, revealing important information you gain (e.g you roleblocked someone and there was no MM sound that night, or someone was RBI, or you roleblocked someone that is suspected as SK, therefore they can't be SK, etc) as you go.
