    ►►Re: My Perma-Ban on MU◄◄

I have not responded or kept up with the thread because I went out to work on an oil rig in New Mexico. I will try to take some time and more clearly explain my thoughts when I have time but I am hurting for sleep right now. I am sure with a bit of time I can convey my points without it getting muddled to hell and I am sure the reason they were is that I had such difficulty even looking at this situation or thread sober. Itís effecting me much more than it should and spilling into my work this week but finally talking about it has helped.

I will say I feel MU and the MU moderation team should be looked at as separate things in my situation and even if the moderators have a highly questionable culture of moderation and make bad calls it does not mean MU is not a good community. Just look at how shitty Americaís leaders are but itís still a pretty nice place to visit. The championships and the articles there are excellent for the global community and tons of the people there are genuinely awesome.

I did not write it in response to those posts but yes, I felt my position was not understood.

In relation to how it effects us today its an issue of systemic racism. How the systems that govern how society functions favor races on a basic level. You should differentiate what objectively exists vs my world view given this conversation is all about my world view but as to what objectively exists you can google it easy enough. In practice my understanding is that its exercised within sentencing.

    https://heinonline.org/HOL/LandingPa...iv=4&id=&page=
Decent point on the subject although its on the federal level while atrocities are more commonly committed on the state level.

You could also just look at the 'Guilty of being poor' movement and everything thats focused on within our society. If you want to take a deep dive into either issue might be worth a separate topic but these are very valid issues that genuinely exist in American society now and not 60 years ago.

Don't you really see how many inferences one has to make to even attempt to follow your thoughts process? Either that or I'm more dumb than I ever realized.

I'm sorry that my best efforts of advising to speak understandably fell on deaf ears.
Yeah. I have trouble in some respects with conveying how I made connections.

Racist people made laws making natural behavior criminal for specific races
Natural behavior forced to be criminal is not immoral or unethical
The example of segregation outlines that overtly
My words in MU debate were about how crime culture results in a measurable disparity in racial distribution of prison populations
This is more understandable as not racist when you consider its resulting from laws targeting cultural of predominate racial distributions
It is logical to recognize that such laws did not go from overtly existing to not existing at all

Sorry if I am terrible at connecting thoughts sometimes. Maybe its not great that I spend so much time in my own head and translating between the things I think and how to understand how I think can be a bit much. Hopefully that makes the connection

Just to be clear, that mention of a law that was 60 years ago - is it supposed to address anything that MM or Oberon or oops said? As far as I understand, they're addressing the "black culture makes you go to prison" argument? I don't think a law from 60 years ago is relevant if so.
Yeah. I do not understand the relevance of making my point look less rational based on the time line but when speaking about a concept of systemic racism and referencing how laws were weaponized against a race within a society it is relevant. Shift the level of how overtly its used and you get a recipe for disparity in prison populations.

Put that in context to my statements and my voiced position can be better understood. Unless you believe racism in laws went from obligating who someone could date or what pubic drinking fountain they could use to not existing at all its logical there was some level of de-escalation and such laws still exist that are not... however old it takes to invalidate my point.

I am not sure if gaslighting me makes MU look better but I can say I do not appreciate it. I acknowledge my issues with mental health but flatly stating inappropriate action was taken against me by a community does not equate to irrational paranoia and framing it as such is not classy. Be careful with crossing that line man. Although I do view you as a friend if you choose to keep going down that road I doubt its going to look good for either you or MU. I can accept that my judgment is clouded by emotion but I do not think any reasonable mind would say I got a fair shake in line with community guidelines.

Refusing to give me the email to make an appeal was intentional
Ignoring a rule that prevents carrying punishments from their debate chat into other areas of the site was intentional
Saying they 'thought I was a troll' does not add up given my history as a member making guides and coordinating cross community events
Shutting down community discussions while saying its up to me to talk to them was some two faced shit
Ignoring everything I said to them and just quoting my words out of context while refusing to give me the chat log prevented me from even having grounds for a fair appeal

At the end of the day Perma banning me from everything with years of being a good standing member while shutting down conversation on the issue from myself to them or from the community on the subject and preventing an appeal reflects bias. If we carry your logic forward and I am just a paranoid loony who is being told what he wants to hear by multiple communities and nothing is wrong what justifies any one of those individual actions by MU?

Whenever there's a misinterpretation, I feel like it's the responsibility of the one talking to prevent that. That's my general take that some agree and others disagree. But in this scenario a large majority seemed to not get you, even here on SC2Mafia. Yes? Idk because it's still too complicated all for me.

I wish to point you towards Importance of Simplification, again.
    Especially:
Sometimes we inadvertently write sentences that can be interpreted in more than one way. When something's written in simple manner, there's less chance for ambiguity.

Tbh, I personally would appreciate if you provided specific examples to go along with your future statements. Like "The most overt example is segregation." is not a specific example. For all I know you're pulling it out of your rear.
Or this "When norms are punished it doesnt equate to the individual being immoral but rather the system being immoral." - it literally doesn't tell me anything and idk wtf you're talking about.
Similarly to how in your "debate" you link to a study link but fail to give any form of summary of how you came to your inference. How's anyone to take it serious and not nefarious? Even now idk how a study that speaks about "Social categorization occurs spontaneously, without much thought to our part" to you doing a social categorization yourself.

While on the topic, pulling a Jordan Peterson doesn't give you credibility either. It loses you it.

I just can't stress the importance of speaking understandable enough.
Uhh.. I am not even sure where to start with this one.

Segregation laws were laws making it criminal to do basic stuff. Like "Being black and dating a white woman"

My point that calling that a crime does not make the individual immoral but rather the system is pretty clear. I can provide specific examples but I feel like its kinda stupid for me to do so. I am making a very valid and clear position here about how saying something is a crime does not mean its derogatory to the individual while also pointing out that my argument was not hateful to a racial group simply because I was arguing that systemic racism created through laws was itself immoral.

If you would like I could go grab some law books and dig some stuff up for you but honestly.. just.. wtf dude? I do not understand why you keep reframing the issue as irrational or that the entirety of the MU community supports it. If its a big deal to you I can PM you on the subject in a few weeks when I am back from work but I think there is a very real issue going on here.

Paris Wilder got killed recently trying to kill some cops. The guy had been arrested 40 times with 23 felony's and was on bond for 2 more felonys with 2 more felony warrants.

This is kind extreme but begs a very real question of 'how many chances are too many?' How many are not enough? Its not cool to throw someone in a cage without the chance for redemption but where do you draw that line and how do you justify that?

    - do you have to be "right" to be intelligent? for instance, science is all about theory of which we can try to prove or disprove. just because we "prove" something doesn't mean its "right". that's why in science we never call anything "proof" but "theory". a good scientist should be able to apply a logic to reach a conclusion, and be able to either buttress or disprove his theory with logic. evidently we can be wrong and yet intelligent at the same time. yes? no? maybe?
The question borders on rhetorical but obviously no. Einstein rejected the basics of quantum physics famously saying "God does not play dice" yet he was intelligent enough for his name to be tied to the very concept of intelligence.

A strong sign of intelligence I look for in people is the ability to exercise lateral thought. As a society we glorify depth in vertical thinking but innovation holds greater value in many respects. The difference in brilliance to dive deeply into a concept vs discovering a concept is substantial.

Over the last two years something I have been struggling with is why people are so closed minded. How its so normal to see any position that is not directly in line with the common thought process as opposed to it. Although I see metacognition as a construct that can effectively create and increase intelligence something I have recently been wondering about is where the will and drive to do so comes from. Some people just want to lift, some people just want to fuck and some people just want to understand. But I don't understand why and I want to. Something is there that I can not quite see but I think I can figure it out if I have enough time. Or maybe I am just so far gone I just think I can and can't recognize my own insanity : )

    ►►Re: My Perma-Ban on MU◄◄

Something that keeps getting misinterpreted about the point I made is the idea of what a crime is.

It is one thing to say a culture causes people to do a crime- like rob a store or sell drugs

It is something totally different to say laws were created that made normal behaviors a crime. In sociology there are Norms, Taboos and Laws. Naturally Laws are made to enforce punishments on behaviors that are taboo but when they are instead enforced on norms it does not equate crime with immoral or unethical behavior. The most overt example is segregation.

Cultural criminology is an entire field of study that deals with what a 'crime' means to the individual. When norms are punished it doesnt equate to the individual being immoral but rather the system being immoral.

Probably the wrong place to say this but I feel like people are looking at my statements and thinking I am suggesting something in individuals culture make them more likely to have immoral or unethical behavior which is just not the case.

I feel a little better after making this thread. Something I realized is that more than access to a game or a community what I really felt I lost when I was banned was my credibility. I think thats why it feels a little better to talk about it. MU did ban me but they very intentionally have shut down conversation on the issue while also making me look like something I consider the most reprehensible beliefs that exist. It made me question how far gone I am and if I am something I hate on a basic level.

Its been nice to see how many people and communities have reached out to me but I really do feel like something is very wrong within the mafia community. The amount of people who have expressed overt fear of even being seen to say something negative about MU is pretty crazy. The majority of the conversations I have start with people requesting I never mention their name with their thoughts. Its an intentional culture of fear mongering which is just stupid. This is a video game people play to relax and meet friends but somehow they created a power structure and weaponized it to the point most people are afraid to even publicly say when they think they made a poor decision. Thats pretty fucking crazy on a very basic level and acting like it is normal is itself wrong.

I don't think anything will change in my situation. But something should change in how the global community is afraid to even speak about the site that hosts the championships.

If anyone from MU ever reads this as a human being I would like to convey a very sincere fuck you. Labeling someone a racist without giving a fuck if they are or not is really shitty. Shutting down community discussion on the issue while pretending you are following established rules is disgusting. Making your community afraid to even talk about your judgement as a moderator of a video game is ridiculous and the community deserves better.

You did say "I desperately need to just go to sleep at this point, but I feel the need to point out how religions and power structures are two very different things" just before you left in that convo. But it's like 26 hours earlier and the only related on the topic post.
I really feel like the convo that was 26-36h before when this convo started is an entirely different one.
I was specifically looking for the statements they grabbed out of context. Although the ignored my point on Caucasian Europeans they grabbed every mention of a racial stereotype to call me a racist. I was exhausted and very drunk but I very specifically remember mentioning the stereotypes in the context of them not being racial but cultural in nature and flatly saying so immediately before or after the statement.

Although I do not think it really matters. As frustrating as it is I just do not think they have any intention of looking at the situation. In my opinion calling someone a racist is the worst thing you can say about someone short of a pedophile or a rapist. Its not about a video game or a community to me. Regardless of if I am ignorant, insensitive or flatly wrong I held that conversation in good faith in the area it was suppose to be held. They circumvented rules established to prevent punishments from carrying over to other parts of the site and I went from having 0 infractions to being permabanned without a single warning.

If the issue was that they truly thought I was a racist it could be resolved but they just flatly do not give a shit. One thing I have been obsessing over is why. I never had any personal problems with any of them. It just does not make sense to me why they intentionally avoided giving me access to the muheadmod@gmail.com email while shutting down the communities discussion of the issue and telling them I had access to it.

I get that communities can self regulate as they see fit but MU has a duty to the global community because they host the championship. They should be held to a standard in my opinion.

When it's doing bad and rent is cheap, scum of all races come crawling out of the wood works.
I do agree with you. Opportunity is a large driving factor for any individual. I feel like it would be a topic for serious discussion/debate. Although our mods actually use their brains I am not sure about holding a conversation on systemic racism in the FM section of the forum.

I do not understand why I was treated as a 'troll' and intentionally withheld access to this chat or why I have not been afforded*the opportunity to speak in my defence sense its been acknowledged*that I am not if there is no bias but I strongly believe the actions taken against me are not in line with the letter or the spirit of your rules. I am not asking for any favors, I am only asking you to follow the established process and finally give me an appeal. I do not believe its possible to maintain that my statements were hateful unless you take them without regard*for context. Even if you feel my words are terrible I am at worst very ignorant and not hateful or bigoted.

Sent that. The chat log you gave started mid way though the conversation but I appreciate it. Maybe I have lost more marbles than I thought if everyone sees my position as hateful but I dont. I genuinely do not see how a good faith examination of the situation can draw that conclusion though.

And if I really am just an ignorant un-woke racist why shut down conversation on the subject to the community? Why intentionally avoid giving me an email to appeal or try to write me off as a troll? If I am a racist and they are correct they should be justified in their actions and not ashamed to speak on the subject.

I guess what finally drove me to make this thread is that I am tired of loosing sleep on the subject. I can not play a game of mafia or work on my guide without getting a sick fucked up feeling and getting upset. One of my many flaws as a person is that I never let things go and this is a much bigger deal to me than it should be. Im honestly going to keep fucking with this until the day I die on principal and my life is worse off for it being a thing.

I do appreciate you spending a bit of time on the issue though. The absolute disregard and apathy show by the MU mods disgusts me and I can not help but wonder how many other people have been railroaded like this. If I am not genuinely being treated differently their moderation culture is really fucked up. At the end of the day mods are not the community, they just exist to protect the community and although I love many respects of MU that attitude is something that has kept me out of it.

    ►►My Perma-Ban on MU◄◄

Its been a while and I probably should have made this thread long ago. I honestly didn't simply because I believed the MU staff wanted the issue to die from public sight before giving me an appeal but it looks like they just have no intention of ever giving me an appeal.

I was perma-banned in the middle of a conversation in the discord of MU. A few things are of note:

-I was in the Serious discussion / Debate section of the discord (which is the appropriate place to have the discussion)
-In years as a member of their site I never once got an infraction (although the community voiced that they assumed this is taken into consideration Dyachei flatly said they give no consideration to prior conduct)
-There was no warning of any kind from moderators or so much as a hint that the conversation was considered a breach of their rules
-The conversation was driven into a taboo subject intentionally by moderators and other members
-I had to report myself to request an appeal and I was flatly denied without any consideration. At this point I overtly voiced I had no access to any other method of communication and was not given the MU email to appeal (as their established community guidelines suggest is their norm)
-When I pointed out I had no access to the conversation log and they were taking my statements out of context my communications were also ignored
-After the fact conversations on the issue by the community were cut off. Multiple citing the banned (me) should/can email the moderators to discuss the issue. I then reported myself again saying if I have that right I would like to exercise it and that was straight up ignored.
-Superjack then argued with them enough on the issue they finally gave him the email address to give to me (muheadmod@gmail.com) and when I emailed them and explained my position I was told "We arenít interested in discussing your opinions further. Itís about people being offended by what youíre saying and what their interpretation of your words is, not what your intention behind the words may be."
-I then pointed out how the definition of racism is 'prejudiced or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group', how in multiple respects this definition does not fit even given their own responses and how if their ban qualifications are 'bigoted or racist' and I am neither that the punishment should not apply. I never got a response
-Ossie spoke with them on my behalf and although I was not allowed to speak in my defense or given any context to the statements they declared racist they did admit to intentionally denying me an appeal because they thought I was a troll. I do not see how that is possible given I wrote articles for MU (https://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums...-%28by-Helz%29) and had worked with them to establish cross community games with 0 infractions over many years but I suppose they had to justify their behavior somehow.
-At this point I have probably asked them 10+ times if I would be allowed to publish that article I have been working on for years with no response which is just petty. Simply having some balls and saying no is something I could at least respect rather than waiting to see how good it is before voicing some moral / ethical grounds.

I should have made this thread a long time ago. I honestly just thought the only thing they gave a shit about was saving face and if I didn't I would have a better shot at getting fair treatment. To this day every point I have made has been flatly disregarded. I have not been allowed to speak in my defense and I was very intentionally not given the ability to do so even though it was their justification for closing conversations with the community. The point I was banned discussing was that racial stereotypes are cultural in nature and that racist individuals targeted African American culture with laws to create systemic racism. There is nothing hateful in this view and at best I am ignorant which objectively means I am not racist by definition and their perma-ban is inappropriate.

I will also point out Amy has a long standing reputation within the global community for being heavy handed and taking inappropriate moderation actions. It was a sick level of comical to talk about my situation to other communities and hear over and over "I bet that was Amy' without mentioning any names or even knowing it was Amy who pushed my perma-ban through.

All I can really say is this:
    Name: MU.JPG
Views: 18
Size: 77.5 KB
I could accept being denied on an appeal but not being given even the context to what I am accused of or so much as the email-address to make an appeal is pretty fucked up. My mind is not gone yet and I would genuinely like the opportunity to represent our community before that happens. As the host of a global competition they are equally held accountable to the global community and sandbagging people at will is just a reflection of overt corruption.

All that said- I would appreciate either poking them to just follow their established process or telling me I am genuinely wrong so I can stop loosing sleep over this issue. I am really sick of feeling like shit over this and its not even about a video game.

Had a conversation with a friend yesterday about the growing focus on Texas. My bet is that its going to keep growing for the next few years until the election as a multi-year io campaign to swing Texas voters.

I have not done much research on the subject but when celebrating my mothers birthday recently I had a decent conversation with her about the vaccines. One of the largest issues is that they only 'last' for about a year. This effectively means you would need to both vaccinate 80-95% of the population within that time frame as well as effectively screen incoming and outgoing tourism and immigration. Im not going to say thats impossible but I do not think its viable in a world where the publics trust has been so terribly abused nobody knows what to believe. I personally think that COVID is here to stay but time will tell.

Unless you are talking about the conservative people or religious freaks who do not accept or have sex education in developing countries though.

Every country in the world is at stage 3-4 of the demographic transition. Most are already stabilized aside from Africa. It is presumed that the world population would stabilize around 10 billion~ so I don't worry a single bit about the earth as a whole getting overpopulated.
That was not my openion. Years back I had a conversation (I think on this forum) on global population growth which led me to diving into a bunch of projections from some section of the UN on global population rates and somewhere along the line I found multiple studies that all put education as the strongest correlated factor with reproduction. That the more educated the person the less kids they bang out. You make enough interesting points I would spend the time to try to figure out where I got the information from if it matters to you but its likely you have touched on the material given some of the points you are making.

Increase water prices to force people to conserve. I personally think this is the only way for some. Salination is inefficient and expensive. Anything that could improve distribution like piping is also cool. In any case. We are using more water than nature to recycle your pee (fuck treatment plants! its always nature! and dolphins)

Meat shortages: Also a thing. With other nations developing (say China). They're adapting to another diet (Western meat yummy yummy) thus increasing demands for meat that it's becoming unsustainable. Good video here.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqGI3iMX_co

Improve and accept plant-based (still yuck) meat and/or cell-based (more hopeful in these) lab-grown meat. Or reduce meat intake overall. This solution also helps with our problems with CO2 emissions (those damn farts) and water crisis (animal/dairy industry uses a lot).
Again I agree with you but I do feel this underscores my point that prior to a point of collapse quality of life suffers. People do not recognize the massive buffer we have with the huge water expenditure to grow grass but at the same time given human nature its likely the masses will have to start taking speed showers before the rich stop watering their lawns. Lab grown meat fascinates the hell out me though. The connection between deforestation and the meat shortage is something I am more concerned with though. Although increases in C02 will increase plant growth the moment the scale tips and we consume more oxygen as a planet than we create that road is going to get ugly. I hope I am wrong in my assumption that it will be how population is finally controlled.

Kinda one of those counterintuitive positions I take but I feel like accelerationism is more appropriate here. As a species we only address issues when dramatic impacts happen so slowing the decline of something essentially prevents it from being addressed. I could ramble about the political and social theory associated with that position but I do feel that the best way to tear down a concept is to support it with flawed reasoning simply because it destroys credibility. On a macro scale the utilitarianist must accept accelerating detrimental issues to limit human suffering on scale.

I have found most 'green energy' solutions to be marketing for profit. Its kinda funny when you break down the life span of solar panels and battery's and the carbon footprint of manufacturing and installing them vs burning fossil fuels.

At the same time though we create new ways of accomplishing goals as the current ways become less viable. I doubt anyone is afraid of running out of coal right now but that is in part because we discovered oil and natural gas. I am much more concerned about water, oxygen and food. Even watching how our society handles short term shortages of products with panic buying and secondary market price gouging spells trouble for the future. There is much more on the macro side of intellectual property and large assets that I believe will be a problem in the next 20 years but again, would derail the conversation.

The math involved in the 1st one doesn't include take global warming in account (though, there's more effective ways to reduce the co2 emissions), and this virus was definitely not taken into account for the 2nd due to it not existing then yet.
I believe the strongest correlated factor with lower reproductive rates is education although its been a few years sense I dug into the subject. As for being very very far from overpopulation being an issue that really depends on how you look at things. If our existence is a few hundred thousands of years looking at the population explosion over the last 100 years is batshit crazy. We may have made more people in that 100 years than had existed in the rest of our time combined.

At the end of the day we have this one planet. Maybe we can figure out how to leave it and colonize somewhere else but were not taking 10 billion people to that new planet. A tiny amount will go and everyone else will be left behind. The rate we are consuming our natural resources is absolutely unsustainable and we can only say we are far off from it being an issue if we look through the lens of our individual life span.

What will be an issue first will be reduction in quality of life. We got a tiny taste of that with the supply chain being hit recently.

This might piss some people off but there are some negatives to herd immunity. People that should have naturally died instead survive to reproduce these days weakening our gene pool on a macro scale. As cold as it is to say, having something that culls the population is positive if you consider it from the stance of humans as a species. That and there is simply too many people. I honestly believe just about every other living thing on the planet would be better off if there were less people and we seem incapable as a species of addressing that issue. In areas where the population outgrows its ability to feed and economically support its people our solution has been to step in and increase food and economic support which exacerbates the human suffering. Our direction is unsustainable in many respects imo and as horrible as it is to see people dying the natural control measures that exist within nature are truly necessary in my opinion.

Thats as far as I have herd from anyone. Just rumors and some logical assumptions based on how the COVID virus is. Survives well, spreads without showing symptoms, deadly enough to draw a reaction but not massively kill the population, mutates slowly ect.. Its easy to see these factors as ideal in some respects but its still just assumptions (from my ignorant understanding)

Im not sure how to vote here because I do not understand what its asking.

I support the vaccine existing and people taking it but I am very against the idea of forcing people to take it. In a similar line of thinking I am very much against forcing people to wear seatbelts. They should, they are kinda idiots if they dont, but it is a basic human right to take risks with your personal safety.

For the COVID numbers there are financial incentives in America to declare a death as COVID related. In many other countries there are incentives to not report COVID issues. I can't help but feel a little... bitchy or something every time someone points to the numbers and rails on how poorly America is dealing with COVID with those factors in mind. Although to be fair my family is heavily involved in health care and hospital management so I have access to a different perspective than most.

I also feel like the two hardline sides should leave etchother alone. Darwinism should satisfy the ones that want to force it on everyone and the ones who are very against it can simply go about their lives without engaging in an argument with someone who holds a diametrically oppositional view point. Its not like anyone is going to change their minds.

At the end of the day the vaccine does have risks and does not guarantee you wont get COVID. COVID has more risks but there is no guarantee you will get it. This means people must choose to certainly expose themselves to risk to avoid a potential greater risk. I see many people taking the view that people who are against getting vaccinated are irrational or illogical but on the most basic level that makes sense to me. If the vaccine had 0 risk and did guarantee you wouldn't get any form of COVID it would be different.

Its been interesting to see how protected information has been circumvented by employers during this whole thing. On one hand its unethical to force people to disclose their medical information while on the other being vaccinated protects customers, markets well and ensures the company wont have unexpected shut downs.

I am personally much less tolerant of the COVID measures at this point. The vaccine is available to everyone for free at this point so I don't understand the shut down stuff. The people who want to protect themselves can and the people who don't can accept the risk that comes with that decision. Fighting nature is dumb, let it do what it does and let society go back to normal.

I do have a question though. I am totally ignorant on the subject but I keep hearing about how the virus looks engineered. Has anyone dug into the subject that can speak one way or the other on it?

One of the greatest countries in the world : )

Had a funny conversation the other day though. We were talking about how guys with small dicks in Texas overcompensate by getting the big truck with a huge lift. Its like the entire state is overcompensating with the ridiculous abortion and gun laws. The state is running into something of an identity crisis with all the people fleeing the financial incompetence of New York and California flooding into Texas and bringing very liberal views into very conservative areas.

The culture clashes are getting pretty common. I got into it with a guy 2 months back for cracking a whip at my friends dogs while they were in her yard. He felt justified pointing out how in California people wouldn't allow their dogs to be off leash in their yard and I told him he is a fucking nutbag for walking around with a whip in the first place.

I have no idea how that gun law got passed.. Every pro-gun person I know thinks its the dumbest idea in the world to allow anyone to run around with a gun without some level of training or due diligence.

I am truly dreading when the next election comes around. The political parties are going to campaign hard in Texas and that shit is fucking cancer to deal with. I can not imagine how toxic its going to get. Until then Ima grab some popcorn and watch what insane law is shoved through next.

Some are very happy with tribal organization, some are far from that (don't tell me people in Kabul, Herat or whatever other big city there is in Afghanistan are very tribal, that's utterly false).

The "label" part is somewhat true since talibans are simply demonized by the US, as can be seen in military propaganda movies, for example. However, the answer is a little oversimplified: it's not true that the talibans are nothing organized. There's a general agreement of guerilla warfare, and there are founders of the movement (hence why there are people going to lead the new government). It's not a super strict organization of course, and it will still be civil war once the "Western problem" is gone for them, but it still is an organization, as the anonymous author even recognized later - this part seems contradictory with the rest. It seems that was written out of resent for the very simplistic and inaccurate label "talibans are Hell's army of evil muslims" views more than out of an intent to grasp the concept, which is understandable, but not so enlightening.

As for "peace is bad for business", remember how WW2 got the US out of the Great Depression. They manufactured weapons, a LOT of weapons. That, and access to oil or something, as you said, but I don't know enough about the area to say for sure.
For context that quoted copy-paste was a bit of my ramblings in a discord serious/politics chat from a few weeks back.

I am glad its over. The occupation 'rebuild' was stupid in my opinion. We set that country back 200 years trying to force their society to function like ours.

The most substantial take-away I look at is how American military leaders did not have a real goal or objective. This (in my opinion) reflects that the war itself was just the pre-tense to move money around and keep that war economy going.

Wars in general are always about power when you dig deep enough. We wrap whatever ethical human rights nonsense we can around them after the fact to look justified but its just about raw power.

The refugee subject is another issue. No good will come of it in any respect and I generally disagree with the concept of refugees while holding the belief that it perpetuates inequality on a macro scale. But in this instance we created that suffering and have a duty to make it right regardless of the violence it can potentially bring to America. Not sure if diving into that subject would be productive though.

I very much like the idea. For a very long time I have disliked how IQ is quantified and how it places people with a very specific set of skills as 'Smart.' I do understand why logical/mathematical reasoning and pattern recognition is valued but I feel it does a great disservice to how people view themselves as well as invalidating many skills of value.

On that video something I had never considered is the idea of existential intelligence. Kinda tickled my brain in a pleasant way.

I am being serious: none of you are intelligent enough to understand why you're stupid. Usually I'm memeing or injecting a little bit of irony for fun but there is no irony here. All of you, with one or two exceptions, have little more than a thimbleful of political credibility and it stems from your complete inability to think through or research your points beyond coming to a conclusion spoon-fed to you by the culture around you since birth. None of you have the intellectual capacity to question the world around you and at least half of you don't even have the potential to develop it.
I do agree that understanding our ignorance holds more value than understanding itself and that lateral thinking to break away from established positions is skill of great value but what do you consider potential? What else do you feel is a real indicator of intelligence?

    ►►Re: Sensitization vs Desensitization◄◄

Over the years I have kinda been both sensitized and desensitized to suicide. I have involved myself a good bit with veterans programs and it took me a quite a while to not blame myself if one I was close to took their life. A part of that was because I had too strong of an 'internal lotus of control' and would tell myself "I should have noticed/said/done" whatever and they wouldnt be dead if I had. The issue that runs into is that it creates a manufactured emotion that never goes away. The natural emotion is to feel sad but it fades with time while the manufactured emotions never go away because they are created from a belief. So long as that belief exists you will keep feeling that emotion (which is usually something I have found exists in one form or another with people who have chronic depression.)

Before I understood and addressed those thought processes I became hyper sensitive to suicide. Now I acknowledge they are an adult and they will do what they want with their life. I also have the somewhat questionable belief that a basic right as a living entity is to do what you want with your life. I think suicide is a very selfish decision in most circumstances but I disagree with forcing people to live if their quality of life is unacceptable to them. (Theres a lot of 'buts' in my belief there I wont go into but yeah.)

I am also less sensitive to people who talk about taking their life quite often. In my experience the ones that talk about it dont do it. Its usually the ones you knew were in a rough spot but never said anything you end up hearing they offed themselves. For a good chunk of my life I had big problems structuring my interactions and fell into co-dependent bullshit while enabling people more than helping them. I was incapable of recognizing that some people voice their pain to leverage your empathy and create co-dependent relationships. The only way to actually help someone is to create opportunity for them to help themselves.

There are some specific patterns that I am very sensitive to that point to someone being at risk. Usually they have substantial problems in Legal issues, financial issues, and personal relationships. Throw in a helping of substance abuse and you have yourself a person you should worry about. Or if they start giving away items of value (especially ones of extreme sentimental value like medals or heirlooms.)

To the subject I am guessing people become more sensitive because its natural to blame yourself when someone close to you takes their life and there is very little information out there on actually addressing the damaging cognitive structures that creates. Dealing with suicide in various forms has been a big part of my life over the last 10 years and it took me until about 2 years ago to get to this point but I am not sure if I could say if I am overall more or less sensitive. A part of me wonders if I am just much colder given how many conversations I have had with people basically telling them how I enjoyed having them in my life if I dont get to see them again but the pain is different than it once was.

I do like how accepting the FM community is although I do feel some forums take it a bit far. Like ThroneOfLies refers to a lynch as a 'Hug' which kinda makes me roll my eyes but at the same time if the word genuinely offends someone although I think they should develop some thicker skin it doesnt hurt to be courteous so I would never push against it.

Anyways, maybe some bits of this will help people understand the processes they are creating in their head without recognizing it. Blaming yourself for someone's death is extremely dangerous in many respects and I feel its unfortunate how little our society actually enables people to deal with the cognitive functions.

In other strategy games, let's say StarCraft, watching your own replays do you jack shit for learning how to play better. You have to either watch replays of better players or have better players watch yours.
Why is it so different in FM?

The only other game I know where analyzing your own games is efficient and effective - it's Chess. But only under the condition that you spend an abysmal amount of time analyzing it. And even then you have to check it afterwards with a computer or a better player.

With that in mind, there is or was actually one extremely good player who offers/-ed help in that regard:
    https://forum.mafia451.com/t/evaluat...llibereth/4797
Basic rundown of how he offered to help:
-you play a game. during the midst of it you regularly send him your reads and your reasonings for it.
-after the game is over, he gives his input on those reads or the lack of them.
Actually watching your replays is a huge part of improving in Starcraft. People also pay great players to watch and critique their play. WinterGaming is a GM thats popular on Twitch who will do it live for a cost (although you should have thick skin because he will dunk on you in the process.)

Even if you don't want to re-read the whole thing you could simply iso yourself or the scum players to see what you missed. I get what your saying that it takes a huge effort to do so and probably means 2-6 hours of reading but for try-hards who easily dump 25-50 hours of effort into a game its not such a cost. You did bring up an interesting point that there could be strong value in reading through high level games.

I have seen that before. Someone poked me about it when I was talking about the overlying concept for what I have been working on. The main difference is I would like to provide players with a way for them to progress themselves while that person seems to charge for them to help you.

The other side I want to ramble about down the road is notes but thats a topic for another day

    ►►Ramblings on improving as a player◄◄

In general player improvement is a self-maximizing process. Effort is taken until the point the objective is achieved and 'improvement' is done through the lens of extensive Memory Distortions https://courses.lumenlearning.com/bo...y-distortions/ creating massive bias in how a player sees what they did well/poorly. Then players tell themselves something, usuially basic like 'I shouldn't fall for X next game', 'I knew I was right here and should use that tell more' or at worst 'Other players should learn to listen to me next time.' Then the next game gets played with these unfounded lessons built from biased information.

I personally feel this is terrible and the thing that cripples most players growth. This leads me into why I push for re-reading games. In doing so you will see your reads as they unfold. What you got right and what you got wrong without memory bias. You also will be able to see what you did that resulted in other players reading you without the bias of questioning if they were scum painting you as well as the things other players did that you should have picked up on.

With that information gathered without the unavoidable lens of memory distortions you can draw more objective conclusions about what you did well, what you did poorly, and what you should do different in the future. This also enables you to target what you did poorly so you know what to focus on for improvement (because the first step to solving a problem is identifying the problem.)

Then next game you play you have some ability to measure your improvement establishing a recursive process for player growth that will be far more effective than blundering through games and teaching yourself bad habits along the way.

In my opinion anyways : )

Not to mention it breaks a lot of the meta dependence which I personally find one of the 'less fun' aspects of mafia. Once you get a hard tell on someone it kinda ruins playing with them for the rest of forever.

As a man with two degrees, I am also inclined to higher education qualities as well. Therefore, I can surmise that you would also respect the use of the English language used in a professional manner. It's very disappointing to see a man claiming to be a "professor", implicitly, yet disregard a very important distinguishing trait that separates those native to English to those who aren't native when communicating with other intellectuals.

Therefore, because of this, I'm very inclined to point out to you your mistake. If you go on perpetuating the use of "your" when it's supposed to be "you're", you're further degrading the use and cultural history of contractions that dates back all the back to the UK in the 17th century where they began as informal writing that became assimilated into everyday business speak. Therefore, I cannot condone this anti-intellectualism you have against English contractions.

Also, the reason why I'm explaining this in great length to you is because I'm a sad, sad man who just wants a friend and you seem to be conveniently available since both you and I have nothing planned this Friday night. Do you want to be my friend?
    Lol. Sure.

I can confirm I have not (and can not) give rep or send reputation messages.

I am not sure if we will be able to come to common ground on the use of 'proper English.' I dislike that there is a declared 'proper' use at all and I push against it. The English language is terrible as far as languages go but I have very little respect for the written technicalities simply because they are self perpetuated nonsense with no functional purpose. Declaring multiple versions of your is stupid in my opinion. The objective of a language is to convey information and nit-picking on the symbols used to do so just does not make a person more capable. I feel like the existence of such 'rules' is worthless and pushing to enforce them makes little sense in a scholastic environment; much less so in chat rooms and video game forums. This is probably just a point we will have to agree to disagree on and I personally advocate for the destruction of the thought process you are pushing making our beliefs diametrically opposed..

No clue what your asking for here but we can have a conversation if you have something real to say.

I honestly think your just some trolling smuf though and probably won't take you seriously until you give me a reason to believe otherwise. (and yes, this is me baiting you to troll more so I can snicker at your attempt to pretend your a real boy and not a smurf)

Took me a second to think about it. Some level of trolling has to be happening given this dude would have 0 understanding of the rep system or my status as the eternal cuck. On top of that I do not think I have given a rep comment to anyone in the past 2 or 3 years.

Just saying.. Trolling trolls to troll is something.
