why are gamers so cringe?

I'm sure some of you have heard about all this drama surrounding a furry transgirl who was added to Twitch's "safety council". She is actually really fucking cringe and there's some videos of her that are a good giggle like this:

But the best part is that we get a whole heap of bonus cringe from idiot gamers who feel like this "safety council" is actually threatening them somehow which has got to be the most dumbass pathetic snowflake shit I have ever heard of. You have this cringe streamer who's straight up trolling everyone masterfully by saying shit like "a lot of gamers are white supremacists" then FourteenWords88 pauses his 24/7 stream of Schindler's List dubbed over with the laughtrack from Big Bang Theory to talk about how gamers just want to play games and that the "safety council" is injecting politics into gaming unnecessarily lmao.

The ultimate conclusion of this is that a lot of gamers are really cringe because a) they feel the need to actually form some sort of safety council or whatever the fuck to make sure people watching their favourite streamers can safely pretend that they actually have friends, but more importantly b) they worry that these safety councils are threatening their hobby of watching people play video games and say racial slurs.

What the fuck is a safety council even? Why is anyone crying about this? Jesus christ I fucking hate streamer culture.

The entire purpose of this thread is to bait people into providing even more entertaining cringe which people will 100% do despite me outright stating my intentions as such.

I just looked up what exactly the safety council does and it seems they can "advise" Twitch on certain things like their policy. Whether Twitch actually listens to them or not idk, but it's kind of a position of power I guess so I think it's somewhat fair to criticize the members especially if they act like this person lol.

I'd be wary of someone that says "a lot of ____ are ____" having a voice in the ear of policy makers. Trolling or serious, pretty bad.

I personally think it's great to have someone like this in power because it makes gamers cry and piss their pants which is a lot of fun to watch.

Also Twitch is pretty shit in general so it's a great call for them to drive as many users away as possible.

But yeah I think the Gamer outrage against the leftist ideologues infecting their scene is blown out of proportion. The only argument I kind of had some support for was the Battlefield 5 one but I soon stopped caring once I realised the multiplayer aspect of the game more. From a historical viewpoint the argument that female characters should not be in the game is a fair statement to make. But the multiplayer side of the game is not historical. I can jump into a game as a German or Japanese soldier with a Garand or Thompson. I don't see the people arguing so strongly about the women characters arguing about that historical discrepancy.

The dumbest one is probably the Last of Us one with the girl being gay. She was confirmed gay since like at least 2015 from the quick google search I did. Yet her kissing a girl in the teaser was C O N T R O V E R S I A L. Like shit you had 5 years to not give a fuck about a sequel if you don't like gay characters, why you still holding on?

Fair shitfest are fun to watch. I never understood why people gravitate so much towards the culture side of a streaming platform in the first place. I only ever used Twitch to watch pro league matches or maybe the odd pro. This whole culture war thing on Twitch is bizarre.

Video games and movies are a crucial form of escapism for many people, critical to their mental stability. When we are playing a video game and we see reminders of the external political landscape the escapism is snuffed out. Combined with, in many cases, an actual racist or sexist influence, the aggressive outpouring is kind of inevitable.

That said, following these people and looking down on them has become a market in and of itself. And pointing and laughing at these "cringe"y people is probably giving us the same catharsis that the bourgeoisie used to feel when they went to laugh at the people at the circus.

yesterday I was playing rocket league, and this guy on our team started raging about 10 seconds into the match, spamming "Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! What a save! What a save! What a save! What a save! Nice shot! Nice shot! Nice shot! Nice shot!" after the other teammate hit the ball poorly once. He kept this up throughout the match when myself or the other teammate whiffed or hit the ball poorly, as most crazy ragers do.

Well, as the match progressed, the other teammate actually ended up carrying the team, scoring a couple goals and saving a couple, while the raging guy was playing pretty poorly, whiffing it quite a few times. Then something very unusual happened. The raging guy started raging at himself! He would spam his same insults after HE missed/poorly hit the ball. It was quite interesting and I'm really fascinated about what goes through the mind of someone like that. Like what is his mental state?

Two things here:

First, the so-called "leftist" ideas infecting gaming is not leftist at all. It's actually wholly capitalistic, since the reason game companies add this stuff in the first place is because they think it'll sell more copies.

Second, I think the entire debate on "wahh there are women in BF1 that isn't realistic" was so dumb for two reasons. First, who the hell plays Battlefield games to get a realistic depiction of how war actually happened? It's a video game not a historical biopic. Second, how can people be upset about unrealistic stuff in Battlefield games where you sprint around buildings with gigantic MGs and set up in under a second to spray people down with perfect accuracy, and you also run around on blimps and shit.

My point is, in general, gamers cry way too much about video game shit that doesn't matter. There was even a thing in Runescape a while ago where the entire community shit their pants in unison because they added an LGBT event to the game. Like ooooohhhh nooooooo 7 pixels on your screen are gonna be a different colour for 2 days lmfao shut the fuck up loser.

Stuff the left crazies screech about, such as female leads, statistcally do poorly commercially so it isn't a capitalistic reason a company does it. Wolfenstein is a good example

That's not to say that a game flops solely because of that. Bad blood was all and all just a shitty game. But it did reek of a game that was pandering identity over gameplay. A counter point would be the game Hellblade. One of my all time favourite games with a female lead. Hellblade is a great example of how a game that doesn't conform to normality can be executed well.

I think the issue is when you start forcing certain elements into games where they don’t belong. This is most visible with bf1, bf5. There are definitely some people exaggerating, and some people using this as an excuse to racist/mysogybistic/etc. But I think that for instance allowing players to pick a female character is not too forced (nor allowing them to edit their character within reason. The issue is that they forced for instance, black soldiers into the WW1 German Army; historically, Germany did not have any black soldiers in Europe; moreover, Germany is sort of infamous for being xenophobic. And the reason they added it was for ‘diversity’. If they wanted diversity, why not focus on the US Coloured division or whatever it was? That part of the armed forces appears literally once in the entire game and then never again... had people added black soldiers to bf3/4 (which they did, btw, the American medic is black in that game), nobody would’ve complained.

Wrt Wolf Colossus: fuck that game lol. They went all in even more so than BF1/5 did. They also made quite a few questionable decisions in that (why the fuck do you get your head chopped off, and then transplanted onto a new body? That’s some bioshock shit right there, or even Clive Barker’s Jericho...). All in all terrible game. The pinnacle of pushing your ideology over improving gameplay. I think some people are simply incompetent and choose to hide behind their ideology.
