This is a small setup, yet requires people with a brain to play so not very noob-friendly, keep that in mind. The roles, none are hidden: Sheriff Doctor 6x Citizen 3x Mafioso Survivor Tormentor Rules: Sheriff can only detect mafia. Doctor is not informed if the heal is successful. The target is not notified of being healed. Survivor has 2 bulletproof vests. Tormentor has 1 auto-vest. Hammer vote on Tormentor's target will become the new victim. Mafia will vote for kills at night, majority vote will determine the target and who is sent to kill. Game will start at day with no lynch, will be a short first day (24h). Role card for the new role: Name: Tormentor Alignment: Neutral, Advanced Evil Description: A demented individual, seeking to torment his chosen victim for all eternity. Goal: Receive a random person as a target. You and your target must be the last remaining living players in the game. The Tormentor is considered a side of his own, thus the game will not end until he wins or is killed. Ability: You can torment your target in two ways, one is by sending annonymus one-way messages to your victim during the day (by PMing the FM master). The other is you can decide to jail him. While in jail your target is roleblocked and protected from death, you can chat with your victim while he is in your holding cell. Events: If your target dies at night your new target will be the first one who killed him, you will of course know who it is. If your target is lynched during the day your new target will be randomly selected out of the voters or be the hammer vote (depending on setup), but you won't be able to jail the new target that night even if you planned to jail your former victim. If you ever vote to lynch your victim and he is actually lynched you will suicide the following night. Special: The Tormentor always wins alone. It doesn't matter who his victim is, Town, Mafia, or anything else, they won't win with him. Executioners are the exception, if they won before the game ended. Jesters who already won by getting lynched will also share the victory. Clarification: Survivor and Tormentor are mortal enemies. While Survivor normally only has to survive, if a Tormentor is in play then he must get rid of him in order to be able to win. This setup was submitted before the clarification of what a 'S-FM' and a 'normal' game is; whilst it does not fully conform, it is still an acceptable setup. LOL -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Auteur : Sumikoko Date : January 7th, 2012 09:01 PM Title : Re: Torment I don't know, lol. I feel like tormentor sounds like a messed up survivor/jailer with no executions role. The thing is, if Mafia hits him, he'll be protected by his vest. And then Mafia will know he's the survivor or tormentor. Mafia will unlikely target him the next time. They will then proceed to attack the other town members. There's also no telling that, since the Mafia already lost by dying, whether they'll just post the name of the person they tried to kill who didn't die in their last will to avoid dragging out a game that they've already lost. (Though I guess you could forbid this.) I guess what I'm trying to say is, Tormentor relies on Mafia to kill town members, but has to kill Mafia too. If the Mafia kills all the townies, he's screwed. If Mafia dies too early, then the Tormentor will literally be screwed too, because you can fool the town down to like, maybe 3-4 people, and then they'll nab you. Cause he depends solely on lynches from then on. He'll torment people, and they'll speak up in day chat. If the Tormentor tries to WIFOM out of it and say he was tormented himself, then the actual tormented guy knows he's bluffing and will counterclaim. Bottom line is, isn't it too hard for the tormentor to win? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Auteur : TheWaaagh Date : January 7th, 2012 09:14 PM Title : Re: Torment I don't really get the point of jailing them, since it's not like you can force any information out of them, especially in this setup. The only time the tormentor looks like it would be fun to play is in a setup with a real jailor. That way you can bluff people and get a lot of valuable information when they think they're talking to the real jailor that can execute. In this setup though, it's like "okay, I'm jailed by the tormentor. I'm not going to say shit because I know he can't kill me anyway." He's essentially just a neutral escort here. I'm not trying to be negative, I just think the one place this role would truly shine is one where there's a jailor, and there isn't one here :(. Oh, I do have a question about his anonymous messages. Will the game master say that they're from the tormentor? Or are they just the message? Because I would love to send shit to my target like a drug dealer: "You were witched!" "You were killed!" "You were role-blocked!". Now that would make him a lot more fun. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Auteur : CmG Date : January 7th, 2012 09:38 PM Title : Re: Torment if you would alter the Tormentor a bit he would be great in FM9 i bet. As a neutral choice -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 12] Auteur : Zack Date : January 8th, 2012 07:25 AM Title : Re: Torment Yes Sumi, the Tormentor is an extremely hard role to win with. That is the intention behind it, its a challenge. You have to manipulate every player in the game and prevail against the odds. As for mafia attacking an immune target, it could be the survivor or it could even be the tormentor's jailed victim. So its not instantly "Barney was immune so he's the tormentor". To clarify a bit: Tormentor is not forced to use his abilities, he can quietly stalk his victim without making his presence known. Meaning the victim will never know he is within the Tormentor's sights unless the Tormentor will decide to let him know. Having the power to jail does not mean the Tormentor will abuse it, in most cases he probably won't. The ability is there to make use of if the tormentor deems it neccessary in order to win. In a bigger game there would be more reasons to use it, yes, but in this setup not so much. TheWaaagh: No they are just plain messages. CmG: Alter? What kind of alteration did you have in mind...? Also remember this is a trial run for the Tormentor, so the balance of the role can be determined by this game. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 13] Auteur : Ubernox Date : January 8th, 2012 11:57 AM Title : Re: Torment There are so many M-FMs with some really great ideas, and this is one of them.
