Jailor, I take it?

Melisandre
May 6th, 2012, 07:25 PM
Alright, just read over the role cards again to ensure there was no other jailor shenanigans.

I claim Snoop.

Night One: Followed Petyr. No Night Action taken (I assume Serf, but can never be too sure.)
Night Two: Followed Joffrey. Visited Ser Davos. (I knew Joffrey did not lie about visiting Davos, you can infer that from my posts on Day 2. I pushed/voted Ser Davos [which may be you] because there was no confirmation from jailed targets that Ser Davos was the jailor. I also know that Joffrey is not Jester unless he annoyed Ser Davos last night [and Davos did not claim visited by Jester]).

Nothing happened to me on either night.

My COM name is a temptation.

Sorry Game Master. Did not know we could not reveal COM names.

Should we set up a Disguiser check?

I do believe that Joffrey is Investigator/Consigliere, since he called Davos out on his actual role with his investigation, but cannot guarantee which of the two he is. Since the jailor confirmed himself, I would suggest Consigliere as 3 out of 4 of the possible roles were Town-aligned. Why risk doing that otherwise? Because Joffrey appeared to be on thin ice with the town as it was, perhaps? So best to get that investigation out into the open.

I am indeed Ser Davos, and I find Joffrey to be innocent.
I showed many signs of being scum and that coupled with me forgetting my own code lead him to push, hard.
I don't blame him for what he did, I would of done the same.
It was a huge misunderstanding that I hope won't cost us the entire game.
I want to know who you find suspicious, your opinion, imput.
I do NOT want you to claim jailed tommorow, that roleplaying facade you have put up will keep the others non-suspicious.
I do want a code system, I won't make the same mistake as I did with Joffrey.
Joffrey hinted to as thinking that I was scum, but I didn't percieve it as an imminent threat.

Let's just hope Joffrey isn't a Consigliere that's hiding behind my mistakes.
He did push quite hard.

Thoughts on alignment are given with what I think the player's preferred alignment is FIRST, followed by what I think they could be after.

[i.e. - FM Game Master = (Town Power? Mafia? Cult?) means I think the player FM Game Master is most likely Town Power, followed by Mafia, followed by Cult.]

1.Arya = Citizen (Serf) (DEAD.)
2. Cersei = (Serf? / Veteran?)
-I believe Cersei to be a Serf trying to take a bullet. She is being far too active in the Day Chat and attempting to scum hunt. The alternative is a hidden scum role (Catelyn counter-claimed Cersei's Bishop claim. I am inclined to believe Catelyn for how frustrated she became.) Maybe even a Veteran.
3. Tyrion = (Town Power/Doctor? Serf?)
-I suspect Tyrion to be a Town Power laying low. Doctor? Armorsmith? Escort?
4. Catelyn = (Paladin?)
-I believe the Paladin claim. The two mafia factions don't want her dead as she can smite the Cult for them. No one counter-claimed her.
5. Daenerys = (Mafia? Masons? Vigilante/Escort?)
-A strong scum vibe. Either hidden town power with a pivotal role (Vigilante, one of the Smiths, Escort and/or Masons) or a definite scum (Mafia / Witch). I do not sense Citizen from Daenerys. Wishes for day to hurry up and trains on players. Has a night chat?
6. Petyr = (Serf? Survivor?)
-I investigated him and he had no night action. There are few mafia roles that would not take action most nights and one of them is already dead (Janitor). This was Night 1 and Dracula would have attempted to Cult, so I rule that out as well. Likely a Serf (or a neutral with nothing to do: Survivor?)
7. Ser Jorah = (Town Power? Serf?)
-Suspecting another Townie here. Actively trying to decipher hidden Town Power roles in the open, siding with Bronn. I suspect we have found an ally here.
8. Theon = (Mafia? Cult? Town Power?)
-Scum. Laying low. Avoiding detection. Mafia/Cult, in my opinion. Definitely not a Citizen. Town power?
9. Joffrey = (Consigliere? Investigator?)
-Honestly? I believe that, between Joffrey and Bronn, Joffrey is the Consigliere. The way he called you out when you had a 3/4 chance of being Town was sketchy as hell. The fact that he checked you the next night makes me think he could have a mafia night chat and he posted your jail chat Night Two in the hopes that someone could recognize who the jailor was. Did you not talk in all Caps? I suggest you do so from now on in Jail Chat.
10. Jon = (Jester? Ghost? Town Power?)
-I am definitely leaning towards Jester with Jon. It would be a good cover for a Town PR, but he's happy enough to lynch anything that moves (and admitted as much).
11. Sandor = (Serf? Ghost? Survivor?)
-Draws a lot of attention to himself. Using a different color than everyone else. Half role-plays, half-scum hunts. Faking Town PR, in my opinion. I suspect Ghost here. Could just be a Serf seeking a bullet. Definitely not Cult (was smited by Paladin Night 2).
12. Bronn = (Investigator? Consigliere?)
-Skeptical, but I trust him slightly more than Joffrey. Watch him be dead tomorrow as the Doctor heals you, leaving Joffrey as our one "Investigator." That would be quite convenient (Joffrey telling his mafia buddies to shoot Bronn tonight).
13. Ser Rodrik = (Serf? Town Power?)
-Seems content to lay low, but applies his vote to the cause. I get a town vibe from him, but doesn't appear to be someone with any solid information.
14. Eddard = Butcher (Janitor) (DEAD.)
15. Jaime = (Mafia? Cult? Town Power?)
-Lurking lurker that lurks. Potential Mafia/Cult suspect here. Could also just be a lurking town power.
16. Robb = (Town Power? Mafia?)
-Questioning lurkers. I'm sensing Town Power, but could just as easily be mafia.
17. Aemon = (Ghost? Survivor/Neutral? Serf?)
-Highly active, role-playing more than I am, and not focusing on the new information we are given, nor does he really care for the vote. Undeniably neutral role. The only alternative is Serf.
18. Lord Varys = (Serf?)
-Another lurker who applies his vote when necessary. Doesn't seem to want to take part in the proceedings much. I expect a lonely Citizen who doesn't want to spend time on this until we get more information.
19. Khal Drogo = (Serf? Town Power?)
-Appears just as eager to kill Viserys as I am. Also likes to role-play (helps cover your role with the WIFOM). This makes him suspicious, but could also make him a lowly Citizen.)
20. Renly = (Mafia?)
-I don't believe Renly to be a regular Citizen. I'm getting a distinct Mafia vibe from him (in fact, a faction leader vibe).
21. Oberyn = (Serf? Town Power? Cult?)
-Definitely appears to be Town. Suggests we wait for evidence, night action claims, etc. A smart player. Which also makes him a dangerous player. I would not be surprised to find him dead soon. And if he's not, becareful that he is not Dracula/Cult.
22.Ser Berristan = Sheriff (Sergeant) (DEAD.)
23. Samwell = (Serf? Cult? Mafia?)
-I do not believe Town Power here. Also not Jester. If he is not a Citizen, then he was a Citizen or he is with the Mafia. He was overlooked until pressured and then did little to change people's minds. Good smiting target for Catelyn.
24. Viserys = (Mafia? Cult? Town Power?)
-Going with scum here. Viserys enjoys sitting back and watching everyone else discuss. He does not call out players and prefers to avoid confrontation. Good scum candidate.
25. Tywin = (Mafia? Cult? Serf?)
-Mafia alert! Visibly sad that Eddard died. Asks others for leads. Talks about how good the day looks with half the graveyard non-town roles. Jumped on that Samwell lynch train well into it. I'm not liking it. If I could, I would have tracked him tonight.
26. Yoren = (Student?)
-I doubt he was lying when he claimed this. However, it is nearly impossible to figure out who his mentor is.
27. Janos = (Town power? Mafia? Vigilante?)
-Tries to run day chat and heavily questioned Joffrey about his investigation results on you (also wondered why when 3/4 possibilities were Town Power roles). Appears Town Power. Could be scum masquerading as someone helping Town, but could also be a Vigi seeking a suitable kill target.
28. Melisandre = Snoop (Detective)
-NOTE: I fake-claimed role-blocked on Day 1. I was not actually role-blocked. I saw BorkBot do it in an FM and hope that it works out here. Ser Loras noticed this immediately, so he is keeping notes.
29. Stannis = (Town Power? Serf?)
-Town Power, definitely. Voted you, but was reluctant to do so, and also ascertained that Joffrey's accusation may have been blown out of proporation. A careful player and a careful voter.
30. Ser Davos = Jailor (Gaelor)
31. Ser Loras = (Serf? Mafia? Town Power?)
-Hard to read. At first I thought he was scum, but he rightfully noticed that 3 people claimed role-blocked on Day 2, but barely anyone did on Day 3. It's quite possible he knows this because of a night chat. He would be another player I would watch at night.
32. Syrio = Executioner (Nemesis) (DEAD.)
33. Ser Ilyn = (Mafia? Serf? Cult?)
-Barely posts. Called everyone stupid for the lynch trains. Good scum candidate. Also possibly a Citizen who doesn't want to play/contribute much.
34. Ser Gregor = (Serf? Mafia? Town Power?)
-Again, lynch trains. Posts little. No freakin' clue.

I will only claim jailed if I come under fire and am asked things pertinent to a jailing that could implicate me (immune at night, bus driving/role-block fails against me, etc.).

To confirm your identity, "A Dingy Cell" and "HI" will be our codewords.

-Disguiser check codes (place somewhere in first post of the day):

Day 4:
Jailor code: "Sorry about the jailor phrase yesterday."
Melisandre code: X (will not need one, protected by Jailor)

Day 5:
Jailor code: "That was an interesting night."
Melisandre code: "The Lord of Light is (not) pleased with this turn of events."
[May or may not have "not" in this phrase, depending on how the night has gone.]

Day 6:
Jailor code: "I hate being lied to."
Melisandre code: "Hell hath no fury like a scorned red witch."

Day 7:
Jailor code: "This game is frustrating."
Melisandre code: "Out of darkness, there comes a Lord of Light."

Day 8:
Jailor code: "Remember, the mafia could have a [insert name of mafia role here]."
Melisandre code: "Winter is coming, [name of player]. Prepare for the worst."

If we both it make it to that day and the game is still going, I would suggest a jailing to compare notes.

Also, I have no idea how experienced you are at Jailor, so I would recommend the following:

-From now on, talk in all capitals letters. People can still pick out parts of your speech to try and confirm your identity, but it is more difficult when speaking in all capital letters.

-Wield your power. Speak in short, commanding sentences. You are the one with the power to execute. Display that power. Make your captive fear you and want to give you all their information. Even threaten to execute them (by issuing the execution command and then taking it back after a few hours).

-No longer let your captive know if you are actually Ser Davos. The more they have to second guess, the better. True, you've already been "outed," so to speak, in Day chat, but they cannot actually confirm your identity. Try not to give up any information unless you 100% trust them. Always ask them for information first.

-Make sure you copy this jail chat into a word document so you can look back on it. We can also use this jail chat to confirm each other's identities if we become skeptical of each other (by quoting the codes/our thoughts on particular players).

Joffrey should be pushed for information tomorrow (as should Bronn). Be aware of how they act. Both Joffrey and Bronn should be active and trying to publicly hunt scum now that they have both revealed. Otherwise, they have something to hide.

I've added your notes to mine, you seem to have a different prespective to me.
I never considered that EVERY player would attempt a WIFOM in one form or another.
I've noted your codes and understand that this conversation won't be private forever.
I'm fathoming whether Joffrey being disguised.

It is true that not all players attempt to WIFOM. Newer players will not, but pro players generally will always attempt to do so unless they have role-revealed.

I'm never really a great judge of character in the large FMs. Once I can begin piecing together night actions (generally day 4 or 5), things become easier, but with only a few revealed roles so far (Student, Jailor, Investigator 1, Investigator 2, at least 4 Citizen claims, Paladin) and all of them Town minus one neutral, it's hard to figure out what's happened so far. Eddard's death did not really help and, since no one was lynched, we can't even use the lynch votes as viable information until someone is actually killed.

It depends how Day chat goes tomorrow, but my suspicions currently lie with:
-Renly
-Tywin
-Daenerys
-Theon
-Jaime
-Ser Ilyn

I think you are fairly safe on quite a few of those candidates, particularly Renly, Tywin and Theon.

I suspected Renly too but couldn't get a lynch train on him due to my current status of town target dummy.

Stranger

I noticed him bandwagoning against me rather quickly.
Joffrey and I haven't made many (strong) points at that particular moment.

Melisandre
May 7th, 2012, 03:32 PM
Rallying a lynch against Renly may be more profitable. This way you can jail someone else who is scummy if we can get Renly to claim.

Stranger
May 7th, 2012, 03:33 PM
Anything else that needs to be discussed?
I find that we've covered everything.
I'll most likely jail Renly or Theon.

And yes, I'll rally a lynch against Renly using your notes.

Melisandre

I think we've addressed most issues. We have the disguiser code, extensive notes, a suspect list to watch out for (but don't rule out anyone, for sure), and a way to confirm this night chat ("A Dingy Cell" and "HI").

We should be good heading into the next day. I'll be sure to protect you should you need it.
