DAY ONE

Calm Before the Storm

It had been a very trying past few months. The Umbrella Corporation had all but folded under the weight of the investigations and lawsuits constantly thrown their way, but that left other pharmaceutical companies to pick up the slack of the most infamous company in existence. Umbrella had grown so large that it encompassed the globe and was such a large conglomerate that they sold everything from houseware to electronics to firearms.

The only thing that stopped them was a few members of the Raccoon City Police force who discovered the disturbing secret that Umbrella was hiding: a virus that mutated any living thing into a creature whose only goal was to kill.

The father of the program was William Birkin, a man who spent his life’s work trying to achieve the impossible, until everything went horribly wrong. It was several members of the S.T.A.R.S. team (Special Tactics and Rescue Squad) and the RPD (Raccoon City Police Department) that discovered him in the bowels of the city, putting the finishing touches on the virus that had already led to an outbreak in the city. And it would spread even further. In order to avoid prosecution he injected himself with his own virus, mutating into a terrifying creature with immense strength and grotesque features. It was rumored that he was killed in the ensuing battle, but no body was ever found.

After this incident, Umbrella increased time and manpower on their research, recovering what they could and taking it a step further. The result was an abomination over seven feet tall that was programmed with one objective in mind: eliminate the remaining members of the S.T.A.R.S. team. This monster, called the Nemesis, was also supposedly killed when confronted by one of the S.T.A.R.S. team. There is no evidence to support its death.

And finally, working behind the scenes was one man known to survive an injection of a more powerful version of the virus and still retain his sanity, along with his human form: Albert Wesker. Former leader of the S.T.A.R.S. team, Wesker betrayed them during the first outbreak of the virus and attempted to kill his remaining team members. Despite foiling him numerous times, Wesker eluded all attempts to detain him and continues to work in the shadows.

As the S.T.A.R.S. team prepares to rebuild and inform the world of what they know, there is a sinking feeling that this battle against Umbrella is not yet over. That something is just around the corner and that, perhaps, they should prepare for the worst.

Anyway, I'm assuming there will be 2 fast killing roles (Serial Killer, Ravager, Spree Killer) and one "slow" killing role (Electro Maniac or Arsonist), because that seems the most balanced to me.

It might be best for the student to choose an role that is heavily involved in investigating people at night: (cop, investigator, jailor) I would lean toward jailor, as I believe a jailor-student and jailor-jailee nightchat setup would be super beneficial to town. Do students just have to russian roulette their mentors? If there wasn't a potential spree killer, I would say jailor should reveal, get doc'ed, and lookout'ed... (obviously this won't work since there could be a spree killer so DONT reveal if you are jailor...)

Might it be good to claim if you'd be a good role for a student to select?

Rebecca Chambers hurried through the long corridor. She had been contracted by the BSAA to deal with research on the T-Virus, the very same virus that William Birkin used to infect and transform himself into a hideous monster. She had been sent to his laboratory--or, what remained of his laboratory--to see if she could find any overlooked evidence.

Rebecca thought back to her S.T.A.R.S. days when she used to work as a field medic on Beta Team. What a promotion, to go from lowly medic to research scientist.

She was searching through Birkin's destroyed laboratory for several hours when a large groan echoed around her. Glancing around there appeared to be no sign of anyone else in the room. Her mind playing tricks on her? She left her number with Chris and Jill in case of an emergency.

Turning around, she continued picking through broken beakers and vials, taking samples along the way. That was when she heard steps slamming into the floor behind her. As she whirled around, Beretta at the ready, she had little time to move before she was flung backwards by a powerful force. She crashed into the remains of a table and rolled to her side.

"S.T.A.R.S."

Trying to retain consciousness, Rebecca looked up at her attacker, coming face to face with the Nemesis monster. As he raised his deformed, claw-like appendage, she closed her eyes and thought back to her S.T.A.R.S. days. Undoubtedly not as prestigious as her current line of work, but those were certainly happier times. She wished for the safety of her friends and hoped that she wouldnt be the only victim of this deranged bio-weapon.

Before the killing blow, Rebecca could hear the faint sound of something in the distance...a low, menacing growl...she did not know what to make of it before her world went black.

I think so. Deathfire might have done that in M-FM II actually. Charge probably wears off because he could just use that to kill someone every night by visiting them.

You need them dead to win. It's easier to lynch them than try to kill through their vests. Give us a clue as to who you attacked and we'll lynch them together, giving both you and us a better chance at winning.

Tonight, he could have quietly revisited them WITHOUT revealing to town about being doused and being sad because he's sk, and that person would have died. There would be a 1/2 chance that he could have killed the arsonist that doused him. In my opinion, that's pretty good odds. Evil neutrals have one time use protection, not full on night immunity. Problem solved. Zane is Jester.

I tried with caesar too, then googlerese. When none of those matched I got bored and gave up. ^^

Your program may have to run for a long time, since there are over 4 x 10^26 possibilities that his alphabet can be in if he is only using substitution.

He is not using substitution. Don't bother using simple Caesar ciphers either. You can tell by the average word length and the standard deviation of the word length.
