View Full Version : [S-FM] The Killing Floor (Resident Evil theme) FAQ

Escaho
April 10th, 2012, 09:44 PM
I've decided to try my hand at hosting an FM. I wanted to do something different than the usual Town versus Mafia versus one Neutral Killer setup, so I've decided to set up a kill frenzy with not one, not two, but three neutral killers! The caveat for them: they can only win by themselves. So while it's fine and dandy to kill off 3 town in one night, it gives your competitors a greater chance at winning. And yes, there is a tie-breaker in place for neutral killers.

(Kinda borrowed Kromos' set-up format. It just looks so clean!)

Theme:

I have chosen a Resident Evil theme for this S-FM. Various characters from the Resident Evil franchise will appear and three of them are trying to hunt down our beloved protagonists!

Can they be stopped?!

Role List Descriptions:

Town Roles

Sheriff
-You may investigate one player at night.
-You will be informed whether or not your target is not suspicious (Town/Benign Neutral) or a wanted murderer (Evil Neutral)

Doctor
-You may heal one player at night and provide them with protection from one attack.
-You do not prevent dousings/charges.

Armoursmith
(http://www.sc2mafia.com/forum/showthread.php/4920-Role-Suggestion-Armoursmith)
-You may provide a protective vest to another player at night.
-They cannot use this vest the night they receive it.
-You cannot provide yourself with a vest.
-Players who receive a vest may use it starting the following night, in addition to their usual night action (if they have one).

Bodyguard
-You may choose to guard someone at night. If that player is attacked, you will be attacked instead. You will also attack the attacker back.

Bus Driver
-You may swap two players at night, swapping all intended night actions from one player to the other.
-You may swap yourself with another player.

Citizen
-You have no actions at night.
-You have power in the vote!
-NOTE: You have a critical role. In a one vs one tie versus any of the killers, you beg and receive mercy from the killer, thereby resulting in a Town win.

Detective
-You may track someone at night to see who they visit.
-If you track a Bus Driver or a Witch, you will see two results.
-You are immune to being killed by the Veteran.

Escort
-You may role block one player from performing any night actions.
-Evil Neutrals do not kill role-blockers in retaliation.

Investigator
-You may investigate someone at night. You will be given a list of possible roles for that player (see list below for investigative pairings).

Jailor
-You may jail someone at night. This will completely role-block them.
-You may choose to execute your prisoner at night, but only when there is no lynch.
-If you release a killing role that can kill that night (Serial Killer, Spree Killer, Ravager who can ravage), you will die.
-If you release a killing role that cannot kill that night (Ravager cannot Ravage, Arsonist, Electro Maniac), you will not die. You will also not be charged/doused.
-If you release an Arsonist who has chosen to ignite, he will still ignite.
-You cannot execute on Night 1.
-You have 2 executions.

Lookout
-You may watch someone for the night. You will be told of anyone who visited that player.
-You are immune to being killed by the Veteran.
-You are not immune to being killed by the Spree Killer, as he will kill you when he leaves.

Vigilante
-You may shoot someone at night.
-You have 2 bullets to shoot with.
-You cannot shoot on Night 1.
-You have no day shot.

Veteran
-You can go on alert at night. Anyone who visits you directly while on alert will be attacked (this does not include Detectives/Lookouts).
-You have 2 alerts.
-NOTE: You will repulse all killers. If their vest is used up, they will die. You will still be doused and/or charged if an Arsonist/Eletro Maniac visits you. A Spree Killer will not attack anyone at your house (as you will do that) unless you are not on alert, role-blocked (you will still kill the Escort if on alert, but still be role-blocked), or if a Lookout/Detective is watching you (they will still be killed as the Spree Killer runs away).

Benign Neutral Roles

Amnesiac
-At night, you have the ability to choose any role from the Graveyard and become that role.
-NOTE: You cannot win if you end the game as an Amnesiac.
-NOTE: You cannot win if you choose a role when there are three or less people left in the game.

Executioner
-You will be given a target. To win, you must convince the remaining players to lynch that target.
-You have a one-time bulletproof vest (that will automatically be used if you are attacked).

Jester
-Your goal is to get lynched by the remaining players.
-If lynched, one of the players who voted to lynch you will randomly die of grief the following night (Note: a Doctor MAY heal this grief.)

Student
(http://www.sc2mafia.com/forum/showthread.php/4916-Role-Suggestion-Student)
-Night one, you must choose someone to be your Mentor. You will then be told their role and it becomes your job to help them win by any means necessary.
-Starting on night two, you will gain a Night chat with that player, provided they are still alive.
-NOTE: If your Mentor is lynched, you will become a Jester.
-NOTE: If your Mentor is killed in any other way, you will become their role and obtain their victory conditions.

Survivor
-You own several bulletproof vests that you may wear at night.
-Your goal is merely to survive.
-You have 3 bulletproof vests.
-A vest will only block ONE attack. You cannot use multiple vests in one night.

Witch
-You have the power to control another player's night action. You may force them to visit another player.
-You cannot win as long as more than one Evil Neutral is still alive (though you can win if NO Evil Neutrals are still alive if all Town are also dead).

Evil Neutral Roles

-NOTE: If one particular Evil Neutral appears more than once, they will not share a night chat. They can, however, win with each other (the Witch will ONLY win if ONE Evil Neutral is still alive, no matter the type.)

Arsonist
-You own a lot of gasoline and may douse one player each night with gasoline (Players are informed that they are doused).
-You may also, instead, choose to ignite all of those you have doused.
-You may not ignite and douse on the same night.
-If there is more than one Arsonist in play and you choose to ignite, you will ignite ALL doused players in the game.
-You have a one-time bulletproof vest (that will automatically be used if you are attacked).

Electro Maniac
(http://www.sc2mafia.com/forum/showthread.php/4633-Role-Information-Electro-Maniac)
-You may charge a player at night (Players are informed that they are charged).
-If a player is charged twice, they will die.
-If two charged players visit each other (one visits the other), both players will die.
-You may charge yourself.
-You are immune to death by charging.
-You have a one-time bulletproof vest (that will automatically be used if you are attacked).

Ravager
-You may ravage any player at night. This will kill them.
-For the following night, you will obtain the power of the person you previously killed. You MUST use this power (you will not have the option to kill instead of using this power, unless you killed a killing role).
-You have a one-time bulletproof vest (that will automatically be used if you are attacked).

Serial Killer
-You may choose to kill someone at night.
-You have a one-time bulletproof vest (that will automatically be used if you are attacked).

Spree Killer
(http://www.sc2mafia.com/forum/showthread.php/4914-Role-Suggestion-Spree-Killer)
-You may choose to visit someone's home at night and kill everyone who visits that player's home.
-If that player has used a night action to visit someone else, they will not be home.
-If two or more players are killed this way, you must wait a night before you can kill again.
-You have a one-time bulletproof vest (that will automatically be used if you are attacked).

FAQ

#1 ) I have a question, if you receive a vest from the armoursmith will it activate automatically if you are attacked? Like the vest for evils? What if someone evil gets a vest, do they stack then?

No, a vest from the Armoursmith will not auto-activate. Only the Evil Neutrals have a vest that auto-activates, along with the Executioner. Any vest received from an Armoursmith will require the holder to send in a Night Action to use it (and regardless of whether that player is attacked or not, once the PM is sent in, the vest is used up).

If an Evil Neutral is given a vest, it will add onto his auto-use vest. Same goes for an Executioner. The auto-use vest will always be used up first. However, if he is attacked twice in one night and has not used the second vest, the second attack will kill him (the first attack will destroy the auto-use vest).

#2 ) Does an Arsonist igniting pierce immunity? Does Electro Maniac's charge pierce immunity?

Yes. Both of these attacks will pierce immunity (ALL vests) *and* healing. Heals/vests only protect against physical attacks (Ravager, Serial Killer, Spree Killer, Veteran, Vigilante).

#3 ) What happens if a Bodyguard guards a player and that player is about to be doused by the Arsonist or charged by the Electro Maniac? What if the Arsonist ignites?

The Bodyguard will attack the intruder (both Arsonist or Electro Maniac) if they attempt to douse/charge the player being protected. The Bodyguard will become doused/charged in place of the player they are protecting.

The Bodyguard will not protect against an Ignite action by the Arsonist. The player they are guarding, if already doused, will burn to death.

#4 ) Does the Executionor know the alignment of his target?

Yes, the Executioner's target is always random town.

#5 ) Is a jailed player protected from being attacked at night?

Yes, a jailed player is not only role blocked, but protected from outside interference.

#6 ) Are Citizens notified if they are role-blocked?

Yes, they will be informed.

#7 ) If someone was jailed and then bussed, does the bussing happen?

No, jailing occurs before bussing. Since jailing grants immunity from all night actions (except ignition), bussing does not occur.

#8 ) Would the bus driver get the feedback that they successfully bussed whoever they picked?

In the jailing scenario, the bus driver would receive feedback that they tried to bus, but was unsuccessful.

#9 ) Would the person in jail get the feedback message that they were bussed?

The person in jail would not receive a PM regarding the bussing. Similarly, the person they were meant to be bussed with will also not receive a PM about being bussed. Only the Bus Driver will receive a PM if the bussing fails.

#10 ) If a player was role-blocked by an Escort are they informed that they were role-blocked?

Yes, they will receive confirmation that they were role-blocked.

#11 ) If a player is not home when a spree killer visits (they are away performing a night action), what happens? I'm not sure what the relevance is of that bit of info on the role card.

When a Spree Killer visits someone at night, they will kill that player and every player that visits that player's home. If that player has a night action and chooses to use it (i.e. - a Doctor who decides to heal another player), the Doctor will not be home for the Spree Killer to kill. However, any player that chooses to visit the Doctor that night (i.e. - Bus Driver swaps, Detective tracks, Witch controls, etc.) will be attacked by the Spree Killer. The significance is that a player that does not have a night action (a Citizen, normally) will not be able to defend against a Spree Killer because they cannot leave home.

#12 ) In the event of the Ravager and Serial Killer targeting the same person, who gets first dibs? Would the Ravager kill him and gain the ability or would the Serial Killer kill him first and the Ravager just does nothing and is able to kill the next night?

In this scenario, it is randomized as to who kills first. If the Serial Killer is selected as the first attacker, the Ravager would not be able to ravage as his target would already be dead. Therefore, he would retain his kill ability until he makes a successful kill. If the Ravager is the first attacker, the Ravager would gain the ability of the player he killed and have to use it the following night, while the Serial Killer would not make a successful kill.

#13 ) Can jail chat be copy-pasted?

Yes. Everything can be fabricated, so posting jail chat is allowed.

#14 ) If a lookout watches someone and he gets jailed, will the jailor show up as a visitor?

Yes, if someone is jailed and a Lookout is watching the jailed player, they will see the Jailor visit that player.

If a player is jailed, the jailed player is immune to abilties that directly affect them (attacks, role-blocks, bus swaps, etc.). However, investigative roles will bypass the jailing as they do not directly affect the player that is jailed.

#15 ) If a player is controlled by a witch, will they be informed?

Yes, a player will be informed if controlled by a witch.

#16 ) Can jailor still jail after a lynch?

Yes, the jailor can jail after a lynch, but he cannot execute at night if there was a lynch during that day.

Are your hidden evil neutrals given night immunity? If they are, I see this being very hard to win for the town.

Escaho
April 10th, 2012, 10:01 PM
The hidden neutrals have a one-night vest immunity.

Keep in mind that they can easily end up attacking each other, destroying that night immunity. They may douse/charge each other, putting them under fire. They will want to use the town to vote off other evil neutrals they find (as they can use attacks against them as investigative roles). They cannot hide from the Sheriff's investigative abilties. Also, keep in mind several of the killing roles cannot kill every single night like the Serial Killer can (Arsonist/Electro Maniac/Ravager).

However, if the set-up seems too Pro-Evil-Neutral, I can remove the immunities.

Ah, I am not very familiar with Electro Maniac and Ravager. I think I posted before getting to read through your second post completely. Now knowing that many of the killing roles can't kill every night, it seems way less pro-evil.

It sounds like you have thought this through well! I'd be interested in playing this one when it gets approved! :]

I'd replace one Benign Neutral with a Citizen imo, but these are the setups I love in game that everyone repicks :/

I have a question because I'm new... How do you decide which forum mafia games will be held when? Do I need to vote on setups or anything? Just wondering when new signups will be posted, seeing as the graveyard investigations S-FM ended recently.

The host decides. They won't usually be hosted when the big FM takes place, but anytime around that is normal.

I suggest that you change one of the random towns to a declared jailor, so the town can at least have some control over a "lynch." I also suggest that you remove amnesiac and student from the random neutrals list, because they are far too iffy in this setup.

Edit: After discussion with Escaho, I have decided to approve this setup. Have fun. :)
