Furious about the disappearance of their fellow citizen Sergei, the group quickly pointed a condemning finger at Nikifor, the last person Sergei was known to visit. Nikifor, filled with fear at the prospect of being executed, tried to run out of the city center, but was stopped short by a sharp-shooting guard. His body was immediately and unceremoniously thrown into the growing mass grave, and his apartment was raided by the vengeful crowd. In the apartment they found several shelves stacked with blank and partially-completed wills, forged under the names of several Petrograd citizens. They also discovered a German army uniform, with a small officer’s pistol. Once again the crowd roared in celebration, knowing that with each day they got closer and closer to exterminating the German threat.
