Nicholas II’s worry spread to the crowd like a disease. Although the people were fearful of the enormous threat to Petrograd, and constantly afraid of angering the wrong people, they were also vengeful and wanted nothing more but to execute the criminals that had killed their friends and family the previous night. Very quickly, the accusations fell on Igor, and the crowd demanded his execution. But before the Royal Police could get to Igor, the crowd did, and brutally beat him to death out of pure rage, using him as a outlet for the pain that the previous night had inflicted upon them. By the time the police had gotten to Igor, there was not much left of him but a broken body, a fitting warning for the remaining criminals in Petrograd. Tired and satisfied, the crowd went to their houses, while the police conducted an investigation of Igor’s occupation. In his small apartment, they found multiple pens of various sizes and colors, as well as several documents and papers that, while looking convincing enough, were found to be very well-made forgeries. They also discovered a German officer’s uniform, as well as several letters that seemed to be from Igor’s family, written in German.
