How about we keep talking about languages, french for now here.

That's much later than I had imagined. Woah.

Agree with the Internet.

I'm curious -- how much do you listen to English music compared to French music?

Naww, your writing is already more intelligible and legible than some anglophone members of this forum. Don't be so harsh on yourself. :s

I don't listen that much to music, i do watch quite a lot of english videos and talk a lot though, as for being harsh on myself, it's the only way to improve.

My ultimate goal would be to be as good as Calix at english, that's what i'm aiming for, even though it probably will never happen.

Frog How did you learn french ?

Frog

Starting learning French in second grade.
Took school lessons from 6th grade on.
Lived in Belgium from 8th-12th grade.
Went to a French language camp in Framce for 6 weeks between 8th and 9th grade.

Spoke Spanish and English all my life.

Learned German in school 8th-12th grade and lived with a German family senior year of high school. Went to a Geeman Lamguage camp for a couple months in Germany between 10th and 11th grade.

Took Chinese lessons for a year in university.

Freshened up on reading and listening to Portuguese when I was working on a project in Brazil for about half a year.

My Arabic is still terrible after living in Dubai for 3+ years

I like to speak Spanish-Italian with Italians because we understand each other over our mutt languages.

Learned simple phrases in Afrikaans after working on projects in SA over the last 3 years and many SA friends.

Realized it's mostly all useless since you can google translate everything from your phone, turn the speaker on and play it to whoever you're talking to.

Google translate has its limits, trust me, it's all far from being useless, i'm glad i'm able to speak french, german and english and that's only three languages.

Woah, that's a big goal. Calix is studying English at uni. You'll need more than YouTube videos to get there :P

Holyyyy shit, that's a lot of languages. Is it even useful for you to know this much?

Where were you born?

Why are you traveling so much?

I'm very curious.

And Sino's right, Google Translate is shit. Reverso is much better.

Yup, you gotta aim for the stars, that's also why i'm most likely never getting it.

You seem pretty fluent already, but the English she's studying in university is worlds apart. I believe you'll be able to understand English conversations as well as she can, but unless you also start rigorously studying the classics, you won't attain the same level of mastery. Books like Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, and Jane Eyre are high school English texts, and reading these require years of high level reading experience.

I suppose it's the same for every language. I can speak English and Vietnamese fluently, but I've never studied classic Vietnamese works. I can probably converse with Yuki but my writings will look incoherent to him :p. I also studied Japanese for three years and started German recently.

He should read To Kill A Mockingbird, he can also ask Unknown for help seeing as he just read it before summer so the plot is fresh in his mind.

I doubt i'd go that far, for now, i'm trying to just speak as often as i can, which is sadly, not that often, i'm still sometimes stumbling upon my words. Improving that is my current goal.
