"Reports have come in of a hostage situation in a small mall on the outskirts of the city. Investigations into a robbery of the recently opened Primark store have been interrupted. Our inside source reports that there were no more than a dozen suspects inside when the mall was forcibly taken over by an armed group earlier this morning. There had been a tense standoff between the police and the raiders outside the main entrance of the mall, but no success has been made with retrieving the hostages. The kidnappers have proven to be uncooperative and a ransom has yet to be made in exchange for the safe return of those inside.

Police have warned us that the mall has a history of criminal activity and the mall had been suffering from a decline in popularity following a string of thefts. Most notorious is the three-year-old case where the body of a teenage boy was found. The killer has yet to be found and according to our source, some fear that they may be inside the mall. No casualties have been reported.

Which I suppose can be considered "meta", but yet I do not do it on an individual basis, rather how people in general act.) that I use as very basic guidelines for day one reads. Of course as with any statistic there is probability for error. Typically, scum and TPRs don't contribute, and typically Citizens contribute more and are the typical trolls. There are always anomalies, but trends point in that direction. But it is day one so I think statistics are quite strong in comparison to most "reads".

Also, your idea of "lynch anti-town players ASAP", is a bad consideration, as you will almost never see scum play "anti-town" during the day, they will attempt to avoid that to avoid attention. For all you know you could be going after a TPR, and a horrible thing I see are pressure votes that lead to TPRs being screwed over because they have to reveal to avoid a lynch, which then leaves them open to scum.

Yes to the second point definitely, because a good first impression is what every scum would like to aim for. Of course not every scum is therefore going to try hard and seem like a town leader on D1 but it's somewhere inbetween scum and town leader they want to be.
