Hmm, what's up everyone? It's time to start my new Pokemon Nuzlocke journey, and this time I'll be doing it with a Pokemon Heart Gold Version! The Nuzlocke challenge for Pokemon games has been on for a while, and it's rules there are the following:

1. If your Pokémon faints, it is considered "dead"! This means you must either release the Pokémon or permanently box it if it faints. No exceptions! You may not use any revival items to bring them back, or reset your game. So be careful!
2. You can only capture/obtain the first Pokémon you encounter in a route/town. That first Pokémon you find is your only chance-- if you fail to catch it (for whatever reason), there are no do-overs. That's all you get for that route or town, so move on over to the next one!

3. You can only trade with other games for the sole-purpose of Trade Evolutions, such as Machoke to Machamp. In other words, you can only use Pokémon you legitimately catch/obtain within the game.
4. You must nickname every Pokémon you catch! This will increase your bond with them and give deaths a bigger impact.

And that will bring us to the fourth point - nicknaming every Pokemon that I catch. I will nickname all of my Pokemon after famous SC2 community members! Ever imagined of a Clefairy named Luna, a Haunter named DarkRevenant, or a Magikarp named Bruno? I will write my Heart Gold adventure while traveling with Pokemon like that. And don't forget that it will be also a Nuzlocke challenge - if one of my Pokemon faints in a battle, it is dead. Permanently. How's that for a thrill? Furthermore, each time I catch a new Pokemon and give it a nickname, I will also send a PM to the community member after which my Pokemon has been named.

Now, let's start my new adventure!

I have arrived into Professor Elm's lab and he asked me to choose one of the three Pokemon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.
I chose myself a male Chikorita and named him Citrus. Profesor Elm said that I should keep it outside of Pokeball and walk together.
The professor told me to visit Mr. Pokemon and receive something from him.
I traveled through Cherrygrove City and received a pair of Running Shoes from rather energetic old man.
I arrived to Mr. Pokemon's house and received a Pokemon Egg from him. I also received a Pokedex from Professor Oak.
On my way back to New Back Town I runned into a passerby boy with red hair. He challenged me with Cyndaquil but I defeated him
When I arrived back in Elm's Lab I found out that Cyndaquil was stolen from Elm by the same boy with red hair! Apparently his name was Silver. I also gave the Egg to Professor Elm.
Elm suggested that I should challenge Pokemon Gyms across Johto. After talking with my mon once more, I setted my on my new journey!
I ran only Lyra, who gave me some PokeBalls and showed me how to catch a wild Pokemon.
Right after I finished taking with her, a wild Sentret appeared! I used this opportunity to use a PokeBall and catch it!
After catching a female Sentret I chose to name her Clementine. Welcome to my party!

Citrus - lvl 9 (male). Adamant nature. Likes to fight.
Clementine - lvl 3 (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off.

I would like to keep a slow pace just so that you guys will be able to catch up. I'll update my Nuzlocke challenge tomorrow! Expect some more new Pokemon to be caught in the future! Of course, that also means you should keep track on your current PMs.

Alirght, everyone, it's time to update my Adventure Log once again!

After catching Clementine I make some effort to train her up, with little assistance of Citrus
I caught a male Caterpie on Route 30 and named him Ika
I started to fight Youngsters and Bug Catched on the rote aheal using mostly Clementine in battle
I caught a female Pidgey on Route 31 and named her MintBerry
I arrived in Violet City. Jokes aside, there was a woman in house who named her Pidgey Strawberry!
I chose to check out the Dark Cave. My first encounter there was a male Geodude. I caught and named him Gerik.
Right after that, I encountered a wild Dunsparce! Sadly, the Nuzlocke rules only allow me to catch one Pokemon per route, so I just knocked that thing out with good experience.
A man gave me HM Rock Smash and I taught that move to Gerik
I spend some time training Gerik in the tall grass, with the help of the new move that he recently learned
Finally, I went to Sprout Tower and spend some time training three of my Pokemon (Citrus, Clementine and Gerik) there. I used Citrus and Clementine in battle against numerous Bellsprouts, and Gerik against Hoothoot. I defeated Sage Li and he gave me the TM Flash.

Citrus - lvl 12 (male). Adamant nature. Likes to fight. Moves: Tackle, Razor Leaf, Synthesis, PoisonPowder.
Clementine - lvl 11 (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off. Moves: Scratch, Quick Attack, Defense Curl, Foresight.
Gerik - lvl 10 (male). Careful nature. Capable of taking hits. Moves: Tackle, Rock Smash, Defense Curl, Rock Polish

Before we begin, there was a comment from a Marriland user:

Falkner should be pretty easy if Gerik reaches one more level. Rock Throw will wipe out the gym :P Although I'll still warn you about Pidgeotto and Roost. It loves to spam that one move OVER and OVER and OVER.

Anyways, subscribing to this because simple Nuzlockes are fun Nuzlockes and maybe I'll learn about Mafia. Also, kudos for using Chikorita. I find it quite underrated compared to the other two, and it's also currently my favorite Johto starter.

Oh yeah, and any reason why you stored Iku and MintBerry?

Surprise update! This time it comes with the video from Youtube! Yeah, I uploaded a video of my battle against Falkner inside the gym, so feel free to watch it!
Featured Pokemon: Gerik, Ika.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gujcMx9uNBM

The adventure journal continues right after the video, as I walk my way to Azalea Town.

After leaving the gym, I received a call from Professor Elm. He told me to meet with his assistant in local PokeMart
The assistant gave me back the mysterious Egg and said that Elm insised that I should travel with it
I used Rock Smash in several places to find some hidden items scattered around
On Route 32 I caught a male Ratatta and named him Rocshi
I continued my walk through Route 32, fighting trainers and wild Pokemon. During my journey, Ika has evolved into Butterfree
Then I entered Union Cave, and encountered a male Zubat. I chose to catch him and named him NoctiZ
Deeper in the Union Cave, I found a new TM, Rock Tomb
Fighting my way through Union Cave, I finally reach the other end of the cave and found myself at Route 33. Azalea Town is just nearby!
Upon entering Azalea Town, I notice a Team Rocket Grunt guarding the entrance of Slowpoke Well.
I enter Azalea Town's Pokemon Center, and as I was about to talk with nurse, my Egg suddenly hatches into Togepi! After some pondering, I chose to name him Tonex.

Citrus - lvl 15 (male). Adamant nature. Likes to fight. Moves: Tackle, Razor Leaf, Synthesis, PoisonPowder.
Clementine - lvl 14 (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off. Moves: Fury Swipes, Quick Attack, Defense Curl, Foresight.
Gerik - lvl 14 (male). Careful nature. Capable of taking hits. Moves: Rock Throw, Rock Smash, Defense Curl, Rock Polish
Ika - lvl 12 (male). Brave nature. Somewhat stubborn. Moves: Tackle, Confusion, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore
Tonex - lvl 1 (male). Quirky nature. Quick tempered. Moves: Growl, Charm, Extrasensory

I still have an original Pokemon Crystal on my Gameboy Color. Don't think there's be any point to keeping me in the party, unless you have an exp share. If I remember correctly, Togepi is pretty weak since it starts at lvl 1 anc can only use metronome.

Gerik the Golem. Enuff said.

Mintberry. Yeah why store her? Unless you want another flier.

Hey, guys, it's time for another journal update! Note that as of now any videos you might see will be hidden in a spoiler box inside the journal. Just click-and-open!

I decided to check Ilex Forest for a while. Caught a wild Paras and named him Deantwo. Well, he does have two mushrooms on the back, right?
Kurt decides to go after Team Rocket but hits his back while climbing down. He insisted that I should beat down those Rockets for him.
I went deeper inside Slowpoke Well and challenged Team Rocket. I defeated their executive Proton using only Clementine in the battle. Right after the fight, Clementine evolved into Furret!
Checked out Route 33 - haven't caught anything there yet. Caught a wild Spearow and decided to name him TwentyOne.
After some little training, Citrus has evolved into Bayleef!
Finally I enter inside Azalea Gym and eventually face off against Bugsy. Does this video bugs you? Featured Pokemon: Gerik, Ika, clementine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2km-qCSJK8
After earning the Gym Badge, I encounter Silver for a second time. He instantly challenges me to battle, but I brush his team off.
In Ilex Forest I had to run and catch two Farfetch'D for "charcoal" guy. After he gets them back, he gives me HM Cut. I team that HM to Clementine and now we can move forward!
A Kimono Girl was found lost in the forest. Before I can reply anything, Ika shows her the way out! Smart Pokemon, you say?
While still exploring the forest, I ran in another guy who headbutts himself against the trees. He said the he can teach Headbutt to my Pokemon. I chose to make Citrus and Clementine to learn Headbutt.
On Route 34 I encounted a wild Abra, but failed to catch it - it Teleported away. No encounter for me this time!
On the same route, I met Lyra near the Day-Care. We exchanged numbers (don't get us wrong!) and I chose to raise two of my reserve Pokemon, NoctiZ and TwentyOne inside the Day-Care.
Finally I arrived in Goldenrod City. I checked out the Department Store nearby and bought some things, and decided to take a little rest after that.

Citrus - lvl 18 (male). Adamant nature. Likes to fight. Moves: Headbutt, Razor Leaf, Synthesis, Reflect. Held item - MiracleSeed.
Clementine - lvl 17 (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off. Moves: Headbutt, Quick Attack, Cut, Foresight Held item - Shell Bell.
Gerik - lvl 17 (male). Careful nature. Capable of taking hits. Moves: Rock Throw, Rock Smash, Magnitude, Rock Polish. Held item - Hard Rock
Ika - lvl 16 (male). Brave nature. Somewhat stubborn. Moves: Gust, Confusion, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore. Held item - Charti Berry.

This is me taking a competitive eye on your team. I know you are doing this for fun, but maybe I can provide some guidance to how you utilize your team. :)

Right now, Citrus is the best off as far as nature and IV's go. It's highest IV stat is it's attack and it's nature gives bonus attack, lessened SpA, Something to keep in mind when choosing a moveset for it.
Gerik is probably the next best off, with a nature that lowers SpA and increases it's SpD. Would be nice if it were increases it's regular defense, but that's fine. IV phrase says it has a solid 31 Defense IV's, so wooo.
Clementine follows with some bulk being given. A full 31 HP IV's and a nature that tends to it's SpD is good for taking that extra hit, but, unfortunately, it's nature hinders it's impressive speed.
Ika sits in the most unfortunate place with it's nature tends to it's unimpressive Attack stat and lowers it's speed. Saved by the 31 SpD IV's it has making it's impressive SpD better.

If you happen upon another Abra, just check a Great ball at it. You'll have just over a 50% chance of catching it.

What's up, everyone? It's another weekend today, so I'm contunuing my journey with a speady pace! Keep your eyes peeled on the journal!

I visited Radio Tower and acquired the Radio Card after answering five questions. My favourite question was "Is it true that Magikarp cannot learn TMs?"
I checked out Goldenrod Underground, battled some trainers and took myself a photo with my team while dressed as Team Rocket Grunt!
I checked out the Goldenrod Game Corner, which had only one game, Voltorb Flip. Apparently I suck at that game, so I chose to ignore it completely.
On Route 35 I battled more trainers and caught a female Nidoran. I named her Bunny.
Since it's Saturday, the Bug-Catching Contenst in National Park was open. I decided to participate, and with help of Ika, I caught a female Weedle. I finished the contenst in a second place - some bratty kid managed to beat me with a Paras. I did get Everstone as reward, though. After contest ended, I named my Weedle Poriomania.
I spent some more time training, and Poriomania eventually evolved into Beedrill!
After returning to Day-Care, I found out that both NoctiZ and TwentyOne had their levels raised to 15! I chose to place TwentyOne in the box and put Poriomania in Day-Care.
Finally I went inside Goldenrod Gym to challenge Whitney. The video below will tell you the rest of the story! Featured Pokemon: Bunny, Citrus, Gerik.

Time for another major update! This time, I'll start with a Pokeathon video right now! Watch as my Pokeathletes prove thenselves on the field!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q05xapVzKIU

And now, time for a journal update:

I decided to withdraw NoctiZ from Day-Care and put him in my party. TwentyOne was placed back in Day-care instead.
I visied one of the younger haircut brothers in Goldenrod Undergound and he groomed NoctiZ for a brand new haircut.
I enthered the Pokeathlon Dome and met Whitney there. She gave me a new jersey for showing off the style, I guess? I took all five Pokeathlon challenges, using different Pokemon each time, and earned a lot of Athlete points!
On Route 37 I encountered a wild male Stantler. Caught and nicknamed him Kusco.
After endtering Ecruteak City's Pokemon Center, I met Bill the Pokemaniac there. he said that I should visit his house in Goldenrod City.
I paid a visit inside the Dance Theater. A Team Rocket goon showed really bad manners there, so I had to step on the stage and beat him up for good. I received HM Surf as a reward.
Moving on a Route 42, I bumped onto Hiked, who gave me another HM - Strength! I also picked the rare TM Shadow Claw and taught that move to Clementine.
I check out Mr. Mortar, but I did not get any good catched there. Moving into other side of Route 42, I stepped into tall grass and encountered a wild Flaaffy. I named her Apache.
I returned to Goldenrod City and met Bill inside his house. He gave me an Eevee as a gift. I gave my Eevee a new nickname - Elixir!
I withdrew TwentyOne and Poriomania from Day-Care and placed Apache and Elixir on their place. Wow, they can grow really fast inside Day-Care!
Finally I trained TwentyOne a little and eventually he evolved into TwentyTwo! Fearow's National Pokedex number is 22, if you haven't noticed.

I have so many Pokemon right now, that I can't completely decide what my final party would be like! I'll have to give myself as good thinking on that for a while. Also you may have noticed that I did not challenge Ecruteak Gym yet. That's because my current update was focuse mostly on Pokeathlon. I'll challenge Morty in my next update of Heart Gold Community Nuzlocke!

Before I update my adventure once again, I'll show you some posts from Marriland's community. Usually there are many other challenges running around, so it's difficult for me to be noticed. But looks like I have few subscribers on that side as well:

Oh~ Nice challenge! It's nice you're naming the Pokemon after your friends~ Tell them I said hello!
XD, I love it how you inspired someone. Inspiration is so nice

Hehe. I did this with Marriland users a while back, but it ended early. :P I'm thinking of doing another, and I liked how you lay this out. :D

Good job vs Whitney. My favorite team member so far is Clementine because I love Furret. :)

Great job so far, Fragos! Looks like you've managed to keep everyone alive. I've been enjoying all of your progress updates. I'm glad the community at Marriland is enjoying your challenge as well.

For anyone who's interested, here (http://itsahardlife.smackjeeves.com/comics/1214481/chapter-1-page-1-cover/) is a comic made about a nuzlocke challenge. It's quite long (currently 9 chapters and counting), but it's very good. So if any of you are looking for something to do between updates from Fragos, you might want to check it out.

The next update is pretty small but it is notheless important! I'm challenging Morty today and you're interested to see how things turned out, hmm? Do not open "My Pokemon Team" until you read the journal and watch the video below!

Inside the Pokeathon Dome I bought an item using my earned Athlete Points. Guess what was that item?
I visited Burned Tower and met Eusine and Morty there. Upon seeing me, Silver challenged me to another battle. I had to switch a lot but in the end I managed to defeat him. No video this time, though!
I climbed down and saw the mythical beasts - Entei, Raikou, and Suicune. They soon scattered away. Suicune took an attention to me, then escaped as well, with Eusine giving off the chase.
Finally I went inside Ecruteak Gym. So dark and full of ghosts... Are you scared? Watch the video at your own risk - and it will not end right after battling Morty! Featured Pokemon: NoctiZ, clementine, Ika, Bunny.

Hey everyone, I have updated my Adventure Journal again. I have mixed feelings about this day. You should start reading from the Journal, ok?

I returned back to Day-Care and they told me that Apache and Elixir were holding an Egg! However, I decided to keep the Egg in hands of Day-Care Man. I withdrew Apache in my party to replace Gerik and taught him the expensive TM Thunder.
Now I can use Surf to reach other areas. I chose a pool of water near the Day-Care and surfed around until I runned into three female Ace Trainers.
The first two girls challenged me to a double battle. They used only Water-type Pokemon and I defeated then with combination of Citrus and Ika.
The third girl had a weak Shellder and a whooping lvl 28 Cloyster! Before Citrus could react, that Cloyster fired an Aurora Beam, killing Citrus in one hit! I send out Apache for delivering revenge! Apache one-shotted Cloyster with Thunder, who only tried to Protect itself. But what's done is already done... now I had to give out my final fareweel to Citrus, a brave Bayleef, who only wanted to fight more and more...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1l0e2-m6S7k
I then started moving into Olivine City's directions. I only found wild Ratatta in the tall grass on the first route, so I made Clementine to use Headbutt on nearby trees on the second route. One of the shaken trees unraveled a wild Hoothoot. I caught that Pokemon and namer her Chane.
Inside MooMoo Farm there was a sick Miltank. I decided to feed her 4 Oran Berries (all of my supply), but she only got slightly better. Lost my berries for nothing, eh?
After arriving in Olivine City, I checked out the local places until a fisherman gave me a Good Rod. I use the rod to fish on Route 40, and my catch was very surprising - a wild Corsola! I had to use Apache instead of Ika to assist in capturing her. Good thing I have few Lure Balls, eh? I named my newly caught Corsola Orpzola and immediately decided to put her in my party in place of Gerik.
I climbed the Lighthouse, fighting trainers aong the way, and Orpzola really proved herself useful there! At the top of the lighthouse I met Jasmine, the local Gym Leader, who was tending to her sick Ampharos. She suggested that I should get a medicide for her Pokemon in Cianwood City (beyone the sea).
After seeing her Ampharos, started waling over the shore, thinking about Citrus. Who knows how things would turn out if I had not picked the wrong path?

Clementine - lvl 25 Furret (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off. Moves: Headbutt, Quick Attack, Cut, Shadow Claw. Held item - Silk Scarf.
Ika - lvl 25 Butterfree (male). Brave nature. Somewhat stubborn. Moves: Gust, Confusion, Sleep Powder, Whirlwind. Held item - Charti Berry.
NoctiZ - lvl 24 Golbat (male). Timid nature. Strongly defiant. Moves: Leech Life, Confuse Ray, Bite, Wing Attack. Held item - Payapa Berry.
Bunny - lvl 24 Nidoqueen (female). Hasty nature. Strong willed. Moves: Headbutt, Growl, Surf, Double Kick. Held item - Shell Bell.
Apache - lvl 25 Flaaffy (female). Sassy nature. Highly curious. Moves: Headbutt, Thundershock, Thunder Wave, Thunder. Held item - Magnet.
Orpzola - lvl 24 Corsola (female). Lax nature. Good endurance. Moves: Surf, Rock Blast, Recover, Strength. Held item - Quick Claw.

In Fire Red, my first Nuzlocke, my Wartortle, Paladin, also died young - to lvl 29 Dugtrio in Diglett's Cave. So basically saying in few words - shit happens, and you have to live with it. So now you too, should understand the pure terror that is Pokemon Nuzlocke.

What are you so flustered for anyway? You have played Mafia so many times, and people just die there left and right. But when the same thing happens to a Pokemon, you can't bat an eye anymore? It's as if you don't care when people die around but deeply weep when your "pet" dies. People are so twisted sometimes.

Also, I'm not sure if I should do that, but Citrus send me a PM yesterday:

Hey there!

I have some bad news and some good news.

Bad news - you've been drawn by Lottery as Tribute for Hunger Games XXI.

But the good news is that the revolution is underfoot, and you stand a fighting chance at surviving AND turning the tables on the Capital!

That is, if you're not an undercover agent from the Capital seeking to undercut the Revolution before it can even begin.

Vote Hunger Games for M-FM XXI and test your luck against other Tributes from around the country. The future fate of Panem may very well rest in your hands.

*We will be offering guaranteed spots to anyone who votes for Hunger Games, barring blatant gamethrows/cheating in major FM games or anything of that nature.

tl;dr: Vote Hunger Games for M-FM

Is it fair to call it diving vengeance? I had no intentions of letting Citrus die, but if you look at my team composition after Morty, then you should see that I could not switch into anything else except for Clementine and Apache. So yeah, for now I'll call that death as a divine vengeance. And a divine guidance that also allowed Apache to score a revenge kill.

Well, I'd rather not die. But I still want to fight! Especially since I'm 3 levels away from evolving into a graveler. Look at how much ass I kicked against falkner. Now just imagine what I could do as a graveler. Or perhaps one day, a golem. Though I'm not sure what the nuzlocke rule on trading is, so maybe I'd have to remain a graveler.

I am probs gonna breed a pokemon specifically for it as my starter and release the starter I get.

There are never too many Pokemon in the world, and my next update just proves that! As usual, read journal first, then team roster afterwards. Some of you might enjoy this update!

I surfed over the seas on my Orpzola battling various swimmers and wild Pokemon. On what you might call Route 41 I encountered a wild female Tentacool, caught and named her Fatalis.
I arrived in Cianwood City and acquired nessesary medicine there - a SecretPotion!
During my training in the seas, NoctiZ stumbled on a strong lvl 25 Tentacruel. While battling the big squid, NoctiZ was hit by a critical Bubblebeam and feel down with a swoop! Another Pokemon lost...
I deciced to replace deceased NoctiZ with TwentyTwo on a temprorary basis and spent a little time training it.
North of Cianwood City, I encountered Sucuine. It quickly fled, but Eusine appeared afterwards and challenged me to a battle! I chose to record my battle video, and... Watch the rest for yourself! Featuted Pokemon: Clementine, Bunny.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uJ43pZzvvg
I trained Apache extensively until she evolved into Ampharos!
While skimming the seas, I decided to deliver the SecretPotion to Jasmine, and she cured her Ampharos with it. Shortly after that, Baoba called me and said the the Safari Zone is ready! How convenient, I could always catch even more Pokemon for reserve team.
The road to Safari Zone was not easy - I had two tought double battles - one against Electabuzz and Magmar, and another against Cloyster and Onix, with Ika in the front! Thanks to my quick wits, I managed to defeat then by switching into approiate counters.
On Route 48 just before the Safari Zone I caught a wild Gloom and named him AppleyNO.
I entered the Safari Zone and checked various areas. I encountered Clefairy in one patch of grass, but she fled away. In another area I encountered a wild Gastly. The Safari Ball caught her and I named her DkRevenant.
On my way back to Cianwood City I climbed down the cliff and threw in my Good Rod. To my surpise the fishing rod hooked a wild Chinchou! I named him DarksLight, as shortened from "TheDarkestLight".
Finally, inside the Cliff Cave, I stubled into a wild Kingler! I quickly caught him with Heavy Ball and gave him a proper nickname - Admiral!

You can do that? I thought you had to use what you could get in the run for it to be considered nuzlocke.

I mean, I'll stick to most traditional rules, I just don't want to use any of the starters cause the only worth my time is froakie and that's only with his special ability. Which is impossible to get off the bat. xD

All or nothing, bro. If you cheat, it isn't nuzlocke. :p

Never do Squirtle -> Blastoise, it'll reape everything in it's path mercilessly.
I'm amused how it gives you everything free. Fliers, swimmers, secondary starter, quint starter, random normal, fairy, forced legendary, etc...

Edit: I actually speedrun the game and it's the best choice with Blastoise if you give it the correct moves, the only issues it'll have is lightning types but there's early items that'll help against it. Exp Share = No grinding, backup strats, which also essentially ruin the whole Nuzlocke challenge in grinding.

Bad idea because Brawley is a fighting Gym.
You are rock.
Fighting fucks rocks.

Suggestions for Brawley: Fearow because flying. Nidoqueen will do work. Ghastly is immune to fighting, just evolving would be a good idea. Ampharos is fine. Butterfree is 4x resistance.

But breeding one would require you to trade it to your nuzlocke file, and according to this (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Nuzlocke_Challenge), you're not supposed to trade, except perhaps to evolve pokemon who require it.

Our adventure continues as we catch even more Pokemon on our way as we are facing many different trials and obstacles!

I spent a little time training AppleyNO whice scouting Mt. Mortar for various items
On Route 43 (just before the Lake of Rage) I caught a wild Girafarig and named her 42shadow42
Inside the lake of Rage I sent out AppleyNO to face off against the famed red Gyarados. Afterr pulling it to sleep I eventually caught him with a Heavy Ball. Kurt's Pokeballs are so awesome! I nicknamed my shiny Gyarados after Ganondorf!
In nothern part of Lake of Rage I picked up the Choice Specs!
Now Ganondorf is in my team in place of Orpzola. I scouted various caves and other areas for items using Surf while battling wild Pokemon and hidden trainers.
In the hidden patch of grass inside Ruins of Alph I encountered a wild Natu, but it teleported away before I could put it to sleep.
I traded the Red Scale from my Gyarados to Mr. Pokemon, who gave me an Exp. Share in return.
I returted to Pokeathlon Dome and participated in the vaious event all over again. Eventually I accumulated enough Athlete Points to purchase a Leaf Stone, which was then used to evolve AppleyNO into Vileplume!
I met Lance inside the Rocket Hideout and together we eventually managed to defeat Team Rocket without any serious trouble. Like really, there were pushover compared to my team as they are now! We finished it off with a double battle featuring red Ganondorf and Lance's Dragonite.
While dealing with Electrodes to disable the generator, I caught one of then and named it powerdeath.
Finally, I entered inside Mahogany Gym to challenge Pryce. Here is another gym battle video, which you should watch befoe opening the team roster. Featured Pokemon: Clementine, Ganondorf, Apache.

Time to liberate the Radio Tower! I'm getting myself tired from those Team Rocket tunes in my Pokegear, so we'll busting in! Well, because we failed to sneak in the first place...

I taught Whirlpool to Fatalis and Flash to powerdeath and took then with me for a while - to explore Whirl Islands. Picked up a few items and caught a female Horsea there. I gave her nickname - Hyprsniper.
Now it's time to infilatrate the Radio Tower. Stupid Rockets thought I am a new recruit so they gave me a Team Rocket uniform. But just as I tried to sneak in, Silver appears and blew my cover out! I have no choice but to clim the tower using brute force of my Pokemon!
Executive Petrel dared to disguise himself as thr Radio Director! He then challenged my to a battle with 5 Koffing and one Weezing. The catch? They all know Selfdestrust!
After defeating Petrel, I used the Basement Key to go deeper in Goldenrod Underground. Before I could proceed further, Silver appeared again and challenged me to another battle!
Eventually I managed to rescue to Director and use the next key to get to the top of Radio Tower. But before that I want to the store and suprisingly received interesing gift from the delivery man - the covetous Choice Scarf!
The last three Team Rocket Executives - Proton, Arianna and Archer - are not going to allow me to end it in an easy way! The video below will tell you the rest of the story! Featured Pokemon: Clementine, Bunny, Ika, Apache, Ganondorf.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn3c7MaAeKE
Finally I managed to defeat all three of then and the radio can now work again! The Director gave me a Rainbow Wing as a reward. The long battle with Team Rocket finally came to an end..
I returned to the Day Care and noticed that Elixir has grown up very well. So I decided to put him in my party and how start to think in what he should evolve to...

So, just as I said before, I'm totally considering using Elixir (my Eevee) in the future. That's why he was in the Day-Care all time, right? I already gave myself a thought about its evolution, but what do you think about it? Post your own thoughts. Until then, I'll see you in the next update, guys!

You might want to consider swapping some pokemon around, Fragos. Just looking at your current team, you've got a bit of redundancy. Two normal types and two poison types. Granted, Eevee can evolve into a different type, so that's not a big deal if you evolve it, but the two poison types might be a bit much, especially since poison is a pretty weak type in all the games before the current gen where it's at least somewhat useful for countering Fairy types.

Before I'll follow up with my next update, it's time to give another final send-off to the Pokemon that was perished in the last episode...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fddYZVAvcc

See, Gerik already helped me during the first three gym battles. That's the reason why he'll stay inside reserves - he is already a valuable Pokemon that I don't want to lose. Furthermore, he already looks cool as Geodude, so I don't have any plans of evolving him either.

That being said, while I was doing my Fire Red Nuzlocke, I had a female Graveler in my team (Terra). She carriled me all the way to the Pokemon League and got her name imprinted in the Hall of Fame. It's possible for Gerik to accomplish the same feat, but as of now I'll probably keep him around as possible replacement for Bunny or clementine if something happens to one of then (unless I'll catch something stronger).

And about Nick saying that I already have certain Pokemon types already... it's actually not that bad. I can totally run two or more Water-types in my team, because they are so bulky. I can run two Electric-types as well, and there is nothing wrong in having both Bunny and AppleyNO in my team - because their typing is still different, and they have different roles. AppleyNO is now my new sleeper, and Bunny is very strong against female opponents. There is a certain niche for clemetine as well, but you'll probably have to see that in the nearby future (assuming she manage to live past the next gym).

Now that the weekend is done, we are back to short-term updates. This update is largely focused on catching new Pokemon on unexplored routes.

I withdrew DarksLight for a short time, just to evolve him into Lanturn.
On Route 44 I battled some trainers, checked a hidden patch of grass and caught a male Tangela, who then was named after Glip.
I traveled through Ice Path and acquired HM Waterfall, which I then taught to Ganondorf.
Deeper in the cave, I caught a wild Swinub and named him Frostbyte.
Near the exit of the cave I stublel upon a Kimono Girl, whose should have been stuck on ice. So I pushled her away. She thanked me for help, but in reality she was actually blocking my path and I just watned to shove her off.
After arriving in Blackthorn City, I made Clementine forget Cut and Ganondorf to forget Surf. I then decided to teach U-turn to Clementine. Thare are still many other TMs that were left from defeating previous Gym Leaders, but I want to save then for harder battles.
Finally I checked the nearby patch of grass on Route 45 below. Caught a Phanpy and named him DamusGravs.

Clementine - lvl 36 Furret (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off. Ability - Run Away. Moves: Headbutt, Sucker Punch, U-turn, Shadow Claw.
Bunny - lvl 35 Nidoqueen (female). Hasty nature. Strong willed. Ability - Rivalry. Moves: Body Slam, Dig, Surf, Fire Blast.

Ganondorf - lvl 36 Gyarados (male). Sassy nature. Impetuous and silly. Ability - Intimidate. Moves: Waterfall, Ice Fang, Strength.
Elixir - lvl 33 Eevee (male). Hasty nature. Good perseverance. Ability - Adaptability. Moves: Sand-Attack, Headbutt, Quick Attack, Hidden Power (??)

Sorry for taking too long! I had to make some preparations in the upcoming battle against Clair. For those of you who played Heart Gold/Soul Silver, you already know that Clair is the hardest Gym Leader to beat. As usual, start reading the journal and watch the video before opening my team roster!

I decided to withdraw DarksLight from Day-Care and put him into my team for training un the upcoming battle in Blackthorn Gym
Encountered a Hiker with a Diglett and Dugtrio. No escape from Arena Trap? Somehow, in my panic, I switched DarksLight for another Pokemon, and it worked! To think I would run into a Dugtrio without Arena Trap... other Nuzlocke players would probably gave up on keeping their "trapped" Pokemon alive.
In Blackthorn City, I fished out a female Poliwag and named her Frog. Quite a simple name for Pokemon like that, don't you find?
Finally, I entered inside Blackthorn Gym with the full intent of challenging Clair. The video below will explain the rest of events! Featured Pokemon: Apache, Ganondorf, DarksLight, Bunny, Clementine.

Clair refused to give me the final badge, and insisted that I should take a trial in Dragon's Den. What a jerk, isn't she?
While battling an Ace Trainer's Dragonair inside Dragon's Den, Ganondorf was hit by Thunder! And...
...he survived! My Gyarados had Wacan Berry carried with him. The ones that halves Electric attacks, right? I still have 14 more such berries in my bag.
Finally, I met with Dragon Master. He asked me several questions, and I answered then with words: "Both strong and weak Pokemon are important! What really matters in the Pokemon battles are the training and knowledge!"
The Dragon Master said that I have passed the test. Clair then appeared, fully expecting that I would lost the test. She was, like: "THAT CAN'T BE!", but in the end she had no choice but to give the final, Rising Badge!
After leaving Dragon's Den, I received a call from Professor Elm. When I returned to his lad, he rewarded me with a Master Ball. He also said that Kimono Girls were looking for me. They are currently awaiting my arrival inisde Ecruteak Dance Theater...

In the next update, we are going to encounter a legendary Pokemon, the sight of whose said to promise eternal happiness! Um, what do you think that "eternal happiness" will be?

Just for your notice, Clair's Kingdra has the ability Sniper - if any critical hits lands, it will deal 3x damage istead of 2x. No Pokemon in my team could possibly survive that. That's the primary reason why she is so scary.

Defeating Clair was nothing but a matter of luck. If you want to talk about my luck some more, you should watch my battle against Eusine again. And make sure to learn what does term "BRO BADGE" means.

If you think battle with Clair was hard enough, then think again! This time I'm going face my biggest trial yet. See Adventure Journal for more information.

With Rising Badge and HM Waterfall, I can now climb waterfalls anywhere. So I went in Mr. Mortar and used Waterfall to get in previously inaccessible areas. And that place turned out to be very good for training! So while collectime Items around, I also spent some time training my team even further.
Deeper in Mt. Mortar I encountered a Black Belt with Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. That Himonchan had three elemental punches again! But DarksLight resisted all three of those punches, and he turned out to be surprisingly good against Hitmonchan. Why I am saying this to you? You should know already who I have to fight in the future.
On the entrance of Dance Theater I bumped into Silver. He said that he was literally floored down by those Kimono Girls. He went away shortly, saying the he "don't want to see me win".
And so I have entered the Dance Theater and was greeted by Kimono Girls. And then... Watch the video below! Featured Pokemon: Clementine, AppleyNO, Ganondorf, DarksLight, Bunny.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsjtBtlwIKY
After a hard battle they make their leave and went to Bell Tower. I followed then shortly after that, climbing floors after floors until I reached the top.
The Kimono Girls began the mystic dance, and shortly after that, the legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh appeared and landed on the tower! When I started to battle it, I found out that it can outspeed Ganondorf even with Choice Scarf equipped...

What's up, everyone? Time to make some big steps forward! With all 8 Gym Badges obtained, there is only one destination to move ahead. And that destination is Pokemon League! But where are my manners? We should start reading from the journal, aren't we?

New Bark Town... Onca again in the place of beginning. The place where I met Clementine... and Citrus. Yeah, surely there are encounters and farewells. Time to move towards Pokemon League!
In Tohjo Falls I caught a wild Goldeen and named her Loiswill.
At Route 26 I encoutered a wild Doduo. Caught and named him Numbertwo. You got the pun, right?
At Route 27 I caught a male Ponyta and named him Carolin.
On the same route there was also a shack where I could rest with my team. What a relief! I should have restocked on potions, though. Many strong trainers were residing on that route.
I went throught the gate and showed the guard all my 8 Gym Badges. Now I can move through Victory Road!
The Victory Road was devoid any any trainers. The Pokemon that resided there were already in my Pokedex. So I did not catch anything there.
Deeper in the Victory road I found the legendary TM Earthquake! Guess who gets to learn it?
As I was approaching the exit of Victory Road, Silver chased me once again. He wants to settle this with one final battle. Well, guys, I'm going to put my belief in you! Featured Pokemon: Clementine, Elixir, Ganondorf, Bunny, DarksLight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoU6vZrDb8Y
Finally, after leaving the cave, I entered the Pokemon League Reception Gate! Now all that's left is to prepare my team in the oncoming battle against the Elite Four!

Clementine - lvl 40 Furret (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off. Ability - Run Away. Moves: Return, Sucker Punch, U-turn, Shadow Claw.

Of course with levels like those, I'm not planning to challenge the Elite Four right away. This training is not limited to the Pokemon in my party; even some of the promising reserves can be trained up to Level 45 if nessesary.

What are your thoughts on this? Who should be in my final team list? Should I include Clementine or Bunny in my team of challengers? Are there any other promising Pokemon that can perform better than any of my current party members? Maybe I'll consider your decisions, but first of all, I'm a competitive Nuzlocke player. So if you want to show me good suggestions, you have to think just like a Nuzlocke player!

There is another interesting thing that I would like to tell you, but it can wait until I'll listen to your discussion first. That's all for today, folks!

You chose not to suggest anything? Fine, as an experienced Nuzlocke player, I'll tell you something: I have a secret weapon that I am definitely going to use in my final team against the Elite Four.

Well, it's rather odd to call my Pokemon as "weapon", but that's clearly how I can describe it. All I can tell you that it is one of my reserve Pokemon. Unfortunaly, for that thing to be placed in my team, someone else has to stay along with other reserves. Who do you think will be brought out and who will be left behind? Pick up your guesses.

And another interesting suggestion... If my challenge team would have consisted entirely of reserves, who would be those Pokemon? Assuming that they get to be trained up to lvl 40-45 and fully evolved.

And finally, "Behind the scenes" - the secrets behind the nicknames of my Pokemon! Enjoy your reading!

If I would have picked Cyndaquil as my starter, I would nickname him Blazer
MintBerry is actually the name I reserved for Totodile. If I have picked Totodile as my starter Pokemon, I would have nicknamed Pidgey after someone else.
Apocist was obviosly going to be my Sandshrew's nickname, but I did not caught a Sandshrew in my first encounter.
AppleyNO is a nickname that I originally intended to give to Sunken/Sunflora, but Gloom/Vileplume turned out to be fine as well.
Azuriae would have to be my Marill, but in HG/SS those things are rare and only encountered in one place (aside from Safari Zone).
I was originally going to nickname my Eevee after Bahkieh, but Bahkieh himself was not active in the forums at that time, so I gave him Elixir's nickname.
BorkBot used to be the name of my Psyduck.
Brendan was obviously going to be a Slowpoke, but I did not made my first encounter with Slowpoke at Slowpoke Well.
I was planning to give a Wobbuffet nickname Bruno, in case if I ever catch that thing.
As Nidorina was named after Bunny, it would be not a surprise if I had encountered Nidorino and named him Cryptonic.
Actually I could nickname my Pidgey Eagleman, but it was female, so I nicknamed her MintBerry instead.
Elixir was originally going to be a Bellsprout.
Fatalis was I name that I originally reserved for Lapras. But again, that Pokemon is rare, so I gave that name to Tentacool instead (who would be Taekyon otherwise).
If I would have caught a Lickiting, its name would be fred.
A Jynx caught in the Ice Path would have been named after Gingerape.
Ika was a name originally reserved for Ratatta. But I caught Caterpie first, so without any good ideas I decided to give Ika's name to Caterpie (was used to be Bujeebus instead).
Louiswill actually was a name reserved in case if I catch a Snubbull. Goldeen would have been nicknamed after Sinclair.
I was planning to nickname Electabuzz after Lysergic, and Magmar after Slaol.
Mateo (who is currently banned) was supposed to be a Meowth.
Muso's name would probably be given to a Scyther or Pinsir.
I was actually planning to catch that Sudowoodo and give it the name Nick. But Sudowoodo turned out to be a female, so I chose not to catch her... as cathing a Sudowoodo was already difficult anyway.
NoctiZ was supposed to be a Noctowl. Likewise, Chane was supposed to be a Yanma.
I even had oops_ur_dead in mind. That would have been a good nickname for Tauros.
Orpz could have been an Onix instead of Corsola.
Poriomania is a name that was originally reserved for Pineco.
Raptorblaze could have been a good nickname for Growlithe or Houndour.
RLVG supposed to be a Magnemite.
Rocshi is a nickname that was originally intended for Drowzee.
Yayap is a name that was reserved for that rare Mantine in Route 41.
ypmagic was going to be a Mr. Mime.
The following Pokemon were given perfectly intended nicknames: Citrus, Clementine, Gerik, Tonex, Bunny, Apache, Kusco, Dk.Revenant, TwentyTwo, DarksLight, 42shadow42, powerdeath, Ganondorf, Hyprsniper, Frostbyte, Frog.

Hey, it's all fun and games until a Pokemon dies, but please keep in mind that I have not challenged the Elite Four yet. The main event is going to happen soon! But right now I have another request that I want you to partake.

Each time I end a Nuzlocke challenge, I usually write up the biography of each of my Pokemon. I usually write bios for Pokemon that were in my party for a long time, including those that died. Reserve Pokemon that were not withdrawn for the box do not count. I would like for each of you to pick respective Pokemon and write out the biography of that Pokemon for me. For example, Clementine can write up the background of my Furret, AppleyNO for Vileplume, and so on.

I want you to provide me the backgrounds of the following Pokemon in my team: Citrus, clementine, Gerik, Ika, Bunny, NoctiZ, Apache, Orpzola, TwentyTwo, DarksLight, AppleyNO, Ganondorf and Elixir. How you will write up the background for each of those Pokemon will be up to your imagination. You have one week to submit your work to me, but please make sure to post it in a private message! Once you do that, I'll add some finishing touches myself and post the ending of my Heart Gold Nuzlocke challenge along with the biographies of my Pokemon that you have provided to me.

Good luck and have fun writing!

I already got a submisson from one of the community, and to be honest, it was made fairly well. There are much more to go, but before that, let me finally announce that my team has been finally trained to challenge the Elite Four! Here they are right now, in a spoiler box:

Clementine - lvl 45 Furret (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off. Ability - Run Away. Moves: Return, Sucker Punch, U-turn, Amnesia.
Bunny - lvl 45 Nidoqueen (female). Hasty nature. Strong willed. Ability - Rivalry. Moves: Body Slam, Earth Power, Surf, Fire Blast.
Ganondorf - lvl 46 Gyarados (male). Sassy nature. Impetuous and silly. Ability - Intimidate. Moves: Waterfall, Ice Fang, Dragon Dance, Earthquake.
Elixir - lvl 46 Espeon (male). Hasty nature. Good perseverance. Ability - Synchronize. Moves: Reflect, Light Screen, Psybeam, Shadow Ball.
DarksLight - lvl 46 Lanturn (male). Sassy nature. Alert to sounds. Ability - Volt Absorb. Moves: Discharge, Signal Beam, Surf, Confuse Ray.
Frostbyte - lvl 46 Mamoswine (male). Relaxed nature. Often scatters things. Ability - Oblivious. Moves: Avalance, Ice Shard, Earthquake, AncientPower.

Yeah, I replaced AppleyNO with another Pokemon. As I already told you, that Pokemon is one of my reserves, so try to take a good guess what it is! Could it be Gerik? Or maybe Orpzola or TwentyTwo? Or someone else completely unexpected? Take your wild guess.

I will start uploading battle videos for the Elite Four starting from tomorrow. You bet I am just as excited as you are! Stay tuned for the news! I will upload the first video in 24 hours for now. You really won't be able to tell how the battle against the strongest Trainers will go from here...

What's up, everyone? The moment for the decisive battle is coming in. We are going to challenge the Elite Four, right here and now! It is also there that my secert weapon will be unveiled...

The Elite Four challenge is very harsh in Nuzlocke; if you lose even a single Pokemon in the first few battles, it will hurt you really hard once you reach the Champion. So I have to do my best keeping everyone alive. Well, I have finished three other Nuzlocke series, so I have a good experience. You too, shall experience what I have experienced so far!

The first Elite Four member is Will, who specialise on Psychic types. I believe they all know Psychic, but none of then are pure Psychics, so I believe that any team composition (apart from Fighting and Poison types) can work. Now, let the curtains rise on the final stage of the survival game!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CieEy3Rep8Y

My Pokemon Team of Challengers in the previous post is now updated with the hidden Pokemon being revealed! Check it out.

Following Platinum Nuzlocke's tradition, I will upload one battle video at a time each day. So expect to see my battle against second Elite Four member tomorrow, and if I'll make it there, a battle with the Champion will be eventually uploaded on Friday! That's all for today, folks!

Expect to see the third video tomorrow! Oh, and I have a few more submissions for the backgrounds of my Pokemon. Just be more active guys, only 5 days left until the deadline!

Well, I can still write the biographies by myself if there would be any missing works, but I still would like to see how you will demonstrate your creativity here. So I'm going to allow you to post the backgrounds for the rest of my reserve Pokemon as well! The Heart Gold Nuzlocke challenge is slowly coming to its conclusion. Only one opponent left before the Champion - Elite Four Karen! She is actually more challenging than the previous Elite Four members before her. Actually I could possibly beat all three of then using only Elixir with Choice Specs equipped, but that is not going to work on Karen's team for obvious reasons. Definitely a heated battle, you should just watch it!

This is it.

The time has come to take the crown the the reigning Pokemon League Champion, Lance! The moment for the final and decisive battle has finally came. The training of Frostbyte was done specifically in preparation for this final battle. But will it be enough? I think some of you have watched my battle with Cynthia back in Platinum, right? It ended with only one Pokemon being left alive on the team. Now the main question is... how many Pokemon on my team will survive the oncoming battle against Lance? Is it really possible to win this battle unscathed or there will be some sacrifices? You will find out the conclusion of my Heart Gold Nuzlocke adventure right here, right now, and right at this epic moment!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=rQIHY02ayh8

I strongly recommend everyone who has been keeping track on my challenge so far to watch this final video! You'll watch it, will you? Unlike previous videos so far, I'm making this video (as well as other Elite Four battle videos) as public release on YouTube! Feel free to leave any comments as you like.

And about the backgrounds of my Pokemon... I'm still accepting more submissions from the comminity. The ones I'm really interested to receive right now are the bios of the following Pokemon: Citrus, Gerik, Ika, Apache, Bunny, Ganondorf, DarksLight, and (if possible) for Frostbyte as well. What's up, everyone? Now that I made it all the way to the Hall of Fame, it's time to wrap some things up. Right now, I have finished the primary challenge with 7 deaths total. That's not a bad result, I lost only 3 Pokemon against the Elite Four (compared to Platinum where I had only 1 survivor). Sure there were some unexpected events... like the death of Citrus, NoctiZ, Ika and Apache. But that's the way life goes on, right? Anyway, I got three Pokemon that have survived the whole ordeal, so I believe the bios of those three Pokemon should be posted early on today!

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2010/143/2/d/Furret_by_AngelicKitty89.jpg

Level 45 Furret (female). Sassy nature. Often dozes off. Ability - Run Away. Moves: Return, Sucker Punch, U-turn, Amnesia.

Clementine the sentret was the first Pokemon caught by me in a PokeBall. Even at a young age of three, clementine was so sassy that she snapped her fingers in a Z formation, hoping it would do something. She had been through so much with me and the rest of my pokemon team; with the death of Citrus, my first pokemon, Clementine was now the oldest one on the team although not the one with the highest level. Furret years must be similar to dog years! Sometimes I would let clementine out of her PokeBall, and she would curl around my foot. She also was quite keen at hunting Ratatta, and would always track Rocshi down to make sure he was still around.

Needless to say, clementine was the most favorite Pokemon of mine, even at the time when Citrus was still alive. She managed to achieve some increduble feats that ordinary Furret could not. Here are some of then:

1. Defeating Morty's Gengar (obviosly)
2. Dodging Electrode's Thunder while at low health and affected by Curse while battling Eusine
3. Revenge killing Clair's Kingdra without being hit by any of its attacks (thanks to Apache's sacrifice)
4. Revenge killing Karen's Houndoom with Choice Scarf. That dog was under Nasty Poll boost, and was faster than anyone else in my team.

The last two feats earned Clementine the title "Furious Furry Ferret Furret". I never had any idea that Clementine would be that awesome. And Choice Scart was the right item to slap on her right on. That's also the reason why I chose to lead with Clementine against Kimono Girls - I could always U-turn away from trouble. Espeon was actually the most troubling Pokemon, but Clamentine managed to outspeed it with scarf and take it down with critical Shadow Claw. She'll be definitely recorded as the legend in my Nuzlocke history, along with Royal the Arcanine, Dirty the Swampert and Life-taker the Floatzel. Welcome to the Hall of Fame, clementine!

http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/248/9/6/lake_of_rage_by_redmental-d2y3isz.jpg

Level 48 Gyarados (male). Sassy nature. Impetuous and silly. Ability - Intimidate. Moves: Waterfall, Ice Fang, Dragon Dance, Earthquake.

Meet the absolute king of all Magikarp and alike, Ganondorf. Truly a powerhouse that cannot be ignored. While he was not a vital member (I could use other Water types or evolve Elixir if nessesary), he was the strongest of all Water types that I could use, so he was my best bet against Lance's onslaught of Dragonites. Well, it would be too stupid to rely on Ganondorf alone, so I trained myself Frostbyte up to Mamoswine just to be sure that I would be able to win. But where Frostbyte has failed, Ganondorf have maanged to succeed, setting up a few Dragon Dances and sweeping out Lance's entire team. That shine red color is not just for display! And the Wacan Berry! It saved Ganondorf's life once, when he was hit by Dragonair's Thunder. And I had many more, so I would not have to worry about Ganondorf even if he would be hit by Thunder once again (I know one of those Dragonites carry Thunder).

Sheesh, I ended up using Gyarados for a third time in my Nuzlocke journey. I used late Leviathana is Fire Red, and Dirty's partner, 50 Cent, in Emerald (both females), but Ganondorf turned out to be much better than his Gen III counterparts, because he could take the full advantage of physical moves in Gen IV. Dragon Dance sweep was also a stratedy that I used to defeat Wallace's team in Emerald using Gyarados alone. That's how strong they are.

http://th01.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2011/002/1/9/espeon_painting_by_purplekecleon-d36891c.png

Level 48 Espeon (male). Hasty nature. Good perseverance. Ability - Synchronize. Moves: Reflect, Light Screen, Psybeam, Shadow Ball.

Elixir was originally not supposed to be an Espeon. I was supposed to evolve him into Vaporeon while I still had no Water types in my team. But in the end, I chose to teach Surf to Bunny, and I eventually caught more Water-types to use later on, so I chose to keep Elixir unevolved as some sort of wild card. For example, if would have lost Apache, I could evolve Elixir into Jolteon. Or into Flareon, considering the abscence of Fire-types in my team. But in the end, I chose to evolve him into Espeon. That was my intention ever since I placed him in my party. Although he was really late with his evolution (I only managed to evolve him after defeating Ho-Oh), the results quickly paid thenselves off. And I had Choice Specs with me, so even Psybeam would hit with the same power as Psychic. No wonder I took Bruno's team down so easily - it was my primary intention to use Elixir as the primary counter against Fighting types. Sure, there were TwentyTwo and others, but Elixir had the biggest potential amongst all of then - and he did not dissapointed me in that. I say he is my second favorite Pokemon in Heart Gold Nuzlocke (after Clementine, of course). Definitely the one that should be respected by everyone else.

And one more thing... While staying in the Day-Care, Elixir and Apache developed close ties with each other and... You know the rest. It's a shame that Apache did not manage to live long enough to see Elixir evolve.

I'll post the backgrounds of my other Pokemon at a later time. You can still send up missing submissions if you want!

I should post the background of my other Pokemon, right? This time I'll tell you more about the other notable Pokemon the were in my active party at some point, but went to reserve slots after that. Sorry for being ignored so far! You guys did well, too!

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/134/a/1/Geodude_by_Zeablast.jpg

Level 25 Geodude (male). Careful nature. Capable of taking hits. Moves: Rock Throw, Rock Smash, Rock Polish, Magnitude.

Ah, Gerik. One of the most vaulable Pokemon in the beginning of my journey. This "kid rock" helped me in the three gym battles straight, and his endurance was untimately tested while battling Whitney's Miltank. But, despite what the most of you thought, I made several interesting decisions about him. First, I decided to put him in reserves after my 4th badge, and that decision was made even back when Citrus was still alive. Gerik was still in my party when I arrived in Olivine City, but after I caught Orpzola, she became the new "rock" replacement for Gerik. I also chose not to evolve him into Graveler, because I saw him looking really cool as Geodude. Ever since I lost Citrus, I decide to leave Gerik in the reserve, baceuse there were many Water-typed in the sea routed, and he was useless in Cianwood Gym. I did saw him as possible replacement for Bunny or Clementine, but both of then made a good job so far until the bitter end. I'm sure that many of you already understand my decision about him. The future about him was not certain until the end of the challenge, but you can clearly see the result now - he still lives, cheering for Clementine and others behind. A stepping stone to my success in Nuzlocke travels.

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/153/e/7/Corsola_Kiriban_by_Dancergurl4u2nv.jpg

Level 30 Corsola (female). Lax nature. Good endurance. Moves: Surf, Rock Blast, Recover, Strength.

Meet the Pokemon who replaced Gerik for a while in my joureney, while being replaced by Ganondorf in returf after my travel to Lake of Rage. The biography of Orpzola is rather interesting to read...

Orpzola was the biggest kid in elementary and middle school. He was by far the most mature, almost as if he was born that way. The other pokemons admired his growth. How did he grow to his fullest potential already? But high school came, and the other pokemons began hitting their growth spurt. Evolutions took place, and suddenly Orpzola wasn't the biggest kid anymore. Sharpedo and Gyarados ruled the school, pushing Orpzola every time they saw him.

Orpzola flew into a deep rage/sadness and began to do drugs. Crystal meth fucked up his face, and coral branches began growing out of his entire body. His skin turned from red to pink. He was unrecognizable. After Sharpedo pushed him again into a locker, he had enough.

Orpzola went out and brought an AK-47, with intent to shoot up the school. Luckily I ran into him and subdued him while I was en-route. I gave Orpzola rehab and family, and in return Orpzola calmed his tits and helped me out whenever he was called upon.

Level 28 Fearow (male). Hardy nature. Capable of taking hits. Moves: Aerial Ace, Fly, Pursuit, Mirror Move.

TwentyTwo is another Pokemon worth mentioning at least once. For one, he was used in Cianwood Gym to deal with those fighters and scored a clean critical hit on Chuck's Primeape. For second, he was also the primary Fly user. Wherether I wanted to reach any town or region in Johto, TwentyTwo was the bird I could always count on. For the future, I planned to use TwentyTwo as one of the counters against Elite Four Bruno. That no longer became nesseary after Elixir was evolved into an Espeon. Still, TwentyTwo made a really good contribution, and I'm glad that I had someone behind I could always rely and fly on.

http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs25/f/2008/122/f/0/_Shadow_Bloom__Vileplume_by_endless_whispers.png

Level 37 Vileplume (male). Impish nature. A little quick tempered. Ability - Chlorophyll. Moves: Mega Drain, Sludge Bomb, Sleep Powder, Solarbeam.

AppleyNO came from a rough part of the Pokemon world. Having to provide for itself, it quickly learned how to fight and defeat other Pokemon. It started fighting trainers to steal the berries when it attacked me. The rest, as you know, is history!

Why would I include AppleyNO in my team? Maybe because of memento to Citrus, who was also a Grass type? Actually, I cosidered AppleyNO against Chuck's Poliwrath (back when he was still in Gloom). Having two Pokemon with Sleep Powder was rather blank, but with the death of Ika, AppleyNO became the sole "sleeper" in my team. However, compard to the rest of my team, AppleyNO did not show much of the action. He was unable to handle Poliwrath, and was forced to swich out from Umbreon despite having Drain Punch, so in the end he was replaced by Frostbyte. There however was one case where he earned a credit - he stood out against the Red Gyarados and held his ground long enough for me to catch it. That's right, I'm talking about the Gyarados what would be leter known as Ganondorf! And he helped me to catch many other Pokemon in absence of Ika (including Frostbyte). So while this smelly flower was not a good battler, he overall performed his job pretty well. So like Gerik and few others he is also worth mentions for capture assists he made so far.

And finally, the backgrounds of those Pokemon that perished during my journey... I will eventually reveal then as well. And of course, the final send-off for those who went to League Challenge with me... that will be shown as well!

Sigh... We really need to do this. After all, tragic deaths are the most essetial and important part of Nuzlocke games. Well, time to give out final farewell to other Pokemon that were with me for a good amount of time.

http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/019/0/7/bayleef_by_chezzepticon-d72t0za.png

Level 23 Bayleef (male). Adamant nature. Once liked to fight... Moves: Razor Leaf, Magical Leaf, Reflect, Synthesis.

Why the first one to die had to be Citrus, my starter? This world simply is not fair. It's basically repeating the same thing as in Fire Red. Sigh... he also did now show much fight in gym battles either, only making a single appearance to defeat Whitney's Clefairy. He must have really, really wanted to fight. He wanted to fight so badly that he started fighting Pokemon that were way stronger that him. And thesult was clearly shown - he was defeated by a stronger and faster Cloyster. Your fighting spirit will be always remembered. It was carried by Apache and now will be carried to Clemetine from now on. I believe the most heartbroken Pokemon was definitely Clementine - she developed very close ties with Citrus that came right from the beginning of my journey.

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/305/d/2/golbat_by_orangedelightfulness-d6sov2t.jpg

Level 26 Golbat (male). Timid nature. Strongly defiant until the end... Moves: Wing Attack, Bite, Confuse Ray, Leech Life

NoctiZ had been living his whole life in this cave. It was dark and he liked the climate, but it was not an easy life. All these other Pokemon that were in there around were always fighting. It was all about who got to be the leader of the pack. NoctiZ usually wanted to stay out of these fights, but some show-off always wanted to make it clear who the boss was and would pick weak pokemon. Pokemon like him. NoctiZ was often beat up and nearly died several times and it was a horrible time.

It was until I came along. Even though I beat him up and took him out of the cave, I still treated him with care afterwards. NoctiZ didn't have to relieve these mindless fights in that cave anymore. He lived a more relaxed life starting then. He was taken care of well and even evolved into a strong Golbat. And even though he gave his life in the end, NoctiZ was glad to fight for me. He had a good potential against Chuck, but to die againt random wild Tentacool... That stings me even more than the case with Citrus. Now I always make sure to train my Pokemon so that they can survive even critical hits.

http://th08.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2013/111/e/b/butterfree_by_joshuadunlop-d62gs03.jpg

Level 34 Butterfree (male). Brave nature. Was he always that stubborn?.. Moves: Silver Wind, Psybeam, Sleep Powder, Tailwind.

Live Butterfree or die hard. That was the way of life that Ika lived. Originally when I caught him as Caterpie, I chose to ignore him, prefering to raise only Citrus, Clementine and Gerik instead. But then I gave myself a second thought, and found out that good sleeper is exaclty what I need for my team! So I included him into my team, evolved him to Butterfree, and from there on, he become the primary Pokemon in assisting captures. Many of those Pokemon that you see in the box nr my current team now were pulled to sleep by either Ika or AppleyNO, and then caught shortly afterwards. His biggest contibution was in Gym battles against Bugsy and Chuck, where he pulled their respective Pokemon to sleep, so that proper counters would be safe to switch in and score a KO afterwards. The reason Ika dies is that I became careless, and he became really unlucky! He fought against Arianna's Vileplume, who also used Sleep Powder. Vileplume used powder once and Ika was asleep for a full 4 turns. Ika used powder once and Vileplume was asleep only for 1 turn! To add insult to injury, that thing finished Ika off with a critical hit. I could heal if I wanted to, but I wanted to put some confidence in Ika, so I chose to use Sleep Powder instead of attacking or healing. I truly was careless... I should have used Awakening right after the sleep. But now it's too late to regret anything - Ika now lies in his eternal sleep...

http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/116/5/c/ampharos_by_all0412-d4xmnyl.jpg

Level 37 Ampharos (female). Sassy nature. Her curiousity was too costly... Moves: Discharge, Thunder Wave, Light Screen, Focus Blast.

Apache was born in the high grass and grew up there. There were some trainers that tried to catch her but she didn't want to be their Pokemon. Then I encountered her and she felt like I was the right trainer so she let herself get catched. I treated Apache well and trained her, so she evolved and became pretty strong ultimately. She have beaten lots of enemies. Finally, Apache was strong enough to fight Clair's Kingdra, the last gym leader and did a great job but Kingdra managed to get a lucky hit Apache couldn't resist which led to her death. Fortunately, Apache's sacrifice was not for naught - he managed to paralyze Kingdra and leave a Light Scree out, which allowed Clementine to make a comeback and ultimately defeat Clair.

Actually until Blackthorm Gym, Apache was the actual leader of the team. She avenged Citrus by hitting that Cloyster with a divine Thunder, and there were many other battles where she managed to prove her cause. Defininetely not the black sheep on my team, she was considersed as the strongest Pokemon, as her Special Attack was way higher than anyone else on my team. Your bravery will not be forgotten, Apache. Instead, it will help the rest of us to move forward.

http://th01.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2012/173/6/4/waterbending_nidoqueen_by_fabman132-d54fi9z.png

Level 46 Nidoqueen (female). Hasty nature. Strong willed until the bitter end... Ability - Rivalry. Moves: Body Slam, Earth Power, Surf, Fire Blast.

One of the more interesting features of Nuzlocke challenge is that it makes you to use Pokemon that are either difficult to use, or have bad movepool. Bunny was an interesting Pokemon to use, I should say. She came with Rivalry, an ability that would cause her to deal more damage to females and less to males. Because of that ability, she was only used in two cases - to fight against female opponents or against Electric-type Pokemon (most of which were genderless). Which that little hich, she eventually managed to score a big hit, defeating Jasmine's iron-clad team all by herself. And there were other cases where she showed some really good uses (she took down Jolteon despite its abused Double teams), and she even battles against Clair, which ended in drawing her kindra earlier that usual. There, however, was one Pokemon that even Bunny, despite having type advantages and Rivalry boost was not ablt to beat in a single hit, and that Pokemon was Karen's Houndoom. Actually, if I have sticked with Dig, Bunny would have defeated Houndoom because of its weaker Defense. That Nasy plot amot putted my down in checkmate position if not for Choice Scarf Clemetine but overall Bunny performed well in the niches that she were supposed to cover. I don't regret taking her against the Elite Four, even though most of then had only male Pokemon. Hall of Fame is something worth dying for, after all.

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/062/d/3/lanturn_by_joltik92-d5wu83t.png

Level 47 Lanturn (male). Sassy nature. Was alert to sounds too much... Ability - Volt Absorb. Moves: Discharge, Signal Beam, Surf, Confuse Ray.

I intended to use DarksLight as a reserve case against Clair's Kingdra, but he ended up replacing Apache after that tough fight in Blackthorn Gym. While having roughly the same defences and speed stat as Apache, DarksLight's Electic moves were actually weaker that Apache's Discharge. But as a secondary Water-type Pokemon he was really easy to raise, especially inside the Victory Road. I included an electric type Pokemon with only one thing in mind - Gyarados. Both Clair and Lance had a Gyarados each, so DarksLight's primaly goal was to take those threats out so that other Pokemon in my team could switch in later unharmed. What I did not count on was Dragonite's sheer power. I thought DarksLight could survive an Outrage. How wrong I was! Dragonite murdered my Lanturn with Outrage, and that was not even a critical hit. But no one else could switch on Outrage either in fear of critical hit, so I'm confident that Darkslight did his job well. I actually hoped to paralyze Dragonite with Discharge so that he could be easily revenge killed, but as unlucky as I was, paralysis did not happen. Still a deep-sea star can shine at least once before fading in the darkness...

http://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/2011/365/6/6/mamoswine_by_haychel-d4kt4xs.png

Level 47 Mamoswine (male). Relaxed nature. Often scattered things. a lot... Ability - Oblivious. Moves: Avalance, Ice Shard, Earthquake, AncientPower.

Frostbyte was my "secret weapon" that I intended to use against Lance's team. I was sure that using just Ganondorf would probably not be enought, so I took Frostbyte out and eventually rasined him into a titanic Mamoswine. He then started wreking out Elite Four's Pokemom like no other. Of course I wanted to save him against Lance, so I took myself some caution during the battles. But Dragonite's power truly astounded me. Not only that thing survived a Nevermelt Ice Shard, it also took out Frostbyte with a critical hit! Well, just like in case with Clair's Kingdra, there was no Pokemon in my team that could possibly survive an attack that strong. I actually had Protect instead of AncientPower that time, but using Protect would mean that Dragonite would probably follow up witt a Fire Blast. And I was sure that Ice Shard could take down Dragonite, who was previously weakened by DarksLight's Discharge.

So I'll finish it with the following advice - Don't underestimate Gym Leaders or Elite Four alike. They are way tougher then you think, and their Pokemon most likely mave maxed out EVs and IVs. Make sure to be prepared to the teeth like I did, and even then, make sure your Pokemon can survive even critical hits. Kingdra and Dragonite being the perfect examples.

Well, that rathers sums things ups, right? So, I'm going to take another break for Nuzlocke. I have plans for Black/White next, but if I get enough encore from the community, I might just as well continue Heart Gold in Kanto. But continuing my challenge would mean filling up the missing team spots. What do you think about that? Post your thoughts and susggestions.

That's all for now, folks!

I actually intended to do my Nuzlocke series in this order after I was done with Fire Red:

Fire Red - Emerald - Platinum - Heart Gold - Black - ????? (It's a secret for now!)

Usually I don't do the post game for then, but Heart Gold actually does have 8 extra gyms after Hall of Fame. I'm going to make my decision in no less than a week. Until that time, it's worth to keep this thread sticky.

Thanks Fragos for posting about your Nuzlocke journey! I had fun following along :)

Also, as the senior member of your pokemon team, I declare that I am ready to face the next 8 gyms! (Unless you think it's better to give some other pokemon a chance in the spotlight) :D

Originally, my plan was to indeed continue the Heart Gold adventure, but something else is coming up soon, and with "that" upcoming event I'm choosing to focus on my next walkthrough, Pokemon White Nuzlocke. I'm planning to start it somewhere after February 22th. If you are interested to watch it as well, head to Marriland.

Actually you should really check out my past Nuzlocke adventures back on Marriland, although only Platinum has some videos. I have recently bought a webcam, so the next time I'll make a new walkthrough, you'll probably see myself narrating in person soon!

That's all for now, folks! You can unstick this thread - nothing special will come out of here from now on.

Actually, here is another announcement I would like to make - I created a new team at Pokemon Showdown battle simulator! This team is based on Pokemon that were with me through many different Nuzlocke journeys. You'll find there six famous challengers: Royal, Careful, Dirty, Life-taker, Clementine and Elixir! PM me if you are looking for a battle challenge, and I'll set up a meeting for you!
