The kids I work with have begun playing it again, I expect it will resemble last year when 5 of them pushed to play it non-stop for 3-4 weeks, and then the others never wanted to go back.

What are some roles or ideas I could implement into the circle version of the game?
Specifically Mafia. Town has lots of things I can do, even pulled off an Architect chat pretty easily. Lol.

Things kids struggle to understand
1- Mass murderer
2- Bus Driver
3- WIFOM in general, good god using a Framer is useless. Doctors barely apply.
4- Beguiler
5- Detective and Lookout were a bit of a stretch, but mostly because they didn't ask questions, the one kid that asked understood it.
6- witch
7- Jesus Christ.. Ventriloquist
8- 'yes, vigilante is a town role'

Things kids hate
1- games with lots of Citizens
2- games with so few citizens they are broken and 'no fun anymore'
3- Electromaniac
4- always playing town
5- playing scum because then 'everyone wants to kill me' -_-
6- games without sheriff

Things kids love
1- vigilante
2- blackmailer
3- FoS of a particular person in a manner of Slaol vs. Titus
4- Blacksmith
5- zombies (cult)
6- 2 mafia games. Appley's Half-Life 3 basically

That is all

Have you ever tried cultist? I think the kids would love converting their friends xD

Those kids have potential to be public mafia player who pro-scum and trolls.

Good luck being slaughtering, slaol. lol

Architect- wakes up 2 people at night. They use hand gestures to communicate trust and lack of trust. Had a Jester that basically said they wanted to lynch the other person in the chat. That other person responded by accusing the Jester the following day. The Jester grief was used on that person. Lol
Detective- goes 2nd to last, I will point at whom they visited.
Lookout- goes last, same general mechanic
Ventriloquist- selects a puppet and the puppets target. The puppet must push for the lynch of that person, and communicate nothing else.
Blackmailer- rather easy. The taped person must be silent
Cult- easy, they just begin waking up after being converted. It's fun to speak through the roles that have been converted as if they hadn't
2 Mafia- call one yakuza, they wake up separately and the words are different enough that there is no confusion

So this basically sounds like the best thing ever. For irl mafia, I've never done anything more complex than sheriff/doctor/escort.

I've only ever played the irl one as Werewolf, rather than mafia.
I'm sure roles could be converted to make RP sense in mafia though.

Roles we've used:
Townsperson: basic citizen
Werewolf: Mafioso
Little girl: Can open her eyes whenever she likes at night and see what's happening, but risks physically being seen if she opens her eyes when the werewolves convene. COOLEST ROLE IN MY OPINION. You actually are afraid opening your eyes.
Witch: Has 2 potions. 1 that kills. 1 that heals. Is told each night who will die and given the option of saving them with her 1 off potion.
Cupid: On n1 unites any two players. The players are then informed they are Lovers. If either dies, the other loses. Can unite across factions. Doesn't make a whole heap of sense faction wise, but we always love having this role regardless because it makes the 2 faction game slightly more interesting.
Gunslinger: If killed, has the ability to take a player out with him.
