Basically, there is no maf jailor, town jailor only jails on no lynch days, Zuko on all days. Zuko must see town lose unless he captures Aang, and town must see Zuko lose unless Aang visits Iroh. So the question becomes, should town roleclaim to Zuko in the hope that he finds Aang(assuming Aang lives that long), or what? I think we should claim Aang/not Aang to Zuko, and roleclaim to Bumi(town jailor)

Citizens will always claim Citizens unless threatened with execution.

4. Zuko: What does being detected by the second player look like in terms of feedback?

I agree with the focal point, which was why I didn't ask questions about specific players. I would rather see productivity in other regards than focusing on "should we lynch player x or not or go for player y".

Hmmm. I have been giving some thought to this.

The setup allows us to side with another faction. I agree that it makes sense to try and bring the Traitors into alignment with us. The only alternative would be the Freedom Fighters, but they are not a viable alternative because it would involve having to expose Katara AND sell out Aang. That's not much of an option.

So in order for us to align with the Traitors Aang needs to be jailed by Zuko.

The logical way to expedite this process is for Aang to reveal himself and Zuko to jail him tonight. The Fire Nation then can't visit Aang, because if they do so Zuko will automatically slay the first visitor. Appa the BD is confirmed in the setup and can protect Aang on subsequent nights.

This is a gamble though, because if the Fire Nation has a Bruiser then they'd surely use it on Aang. However, that Bruiser would inevitably be killed by Zuko in the attempt. To be honest, I doubt the presence of a Bruiser. As a role it is not very powerful in the long-term beyond its single use. Its true power exists in its WIFOM possibility in the setup and I would hazard that was the hosts' intention all along. The Bruiser possibility exists to try and dissuade us from such strategies as this. However, I doubt the Fire Nation actually has one.

Therefore!

In summary: Aang should reveal himself today. Zuko should jail him tonight.

-Only having to kill 1 person. (Not the entire faction of Fire Benders)

It will greatly increase the traitors chance of winning.

The downside: Team Aang would get almost zero benefits. If anything, Zuko could tell Aang who Ihro is so he can meet with 1/3 of the required players for an evolved win.
Until all players are met with, Team Avatar has to face all 3 factions.

Overall:
Team Avatar is at greatest risk by putting Aang up for display with the possibility of a bruiser.
Traitors benefit the most.
Team Avatar gets little reward.

but imo the risk of there being a bruiser is too high like you said the hosts dont want us to use such tactics. We cannot lose aang so early cause we need some more prs. Sure the bruiser couldnt kill while aang is jailed by zuko but after that appa couldnt do shit.

also we do not necessarily need iroh and zuko as ally. However zuko pretty much needs us. So if at all zuko should reveal. Then aang may speak to him. I doubt mafia would kill zuko

so imo aang should not reveal!

No.

2. Admiral Zhao's role card states that "You may Burn a player at night, killing them. You burn your Fire Nation Allies." Is it intended that Admiral Zhao may only attack members of his faction?

No. That simply means that Zhao may kill his allies, if for some reason he attacks them. He may, of course, attack other people.

3. May any Fire Nation member be sent to perform the faction kill?

At the cost of their respective night actions, yes.

4. Zuko: What does being detected by the second player look like in terms of feedback?

Wouldn't you like to know.

5. Zuko/Uncle Iroh: Does the bruiser bypass Zuko's prevention of attacks or Uncle Iroh's Night Immunity?

No. You will notice that it bypasses "swapping, healing, and role blocks." Anything not listed will still affect the bruiser's ability to kill.

6. Aang: Will Aang's identity be revealed to the player he speaks to even if they are not in the Water Tribe or Earth Kingdom?

Yes.

7. Secondary Ability mechanic: Do players need to be visited by Sokka in order to unlock usage of their secondary abilities?

Being visited by Sokka is only one way in which a player may use their second ability. The others are on their role cards, which are available in the setup.

8. If Katara is converted to the Freedom Fighters and Jet is killed, will Katara return to her home as an Earth Kingdom citizen?

No. She will retain whatever role she already has, but her win condition will revert to that of Team Avatar. Note that she does not change roles when converted by Jet.

9. Do the Freedom Fighters share a night chat?

Yes.

10. Do players converted by Aang share a night chat?

No. They merely receive a new role.

11. Cabbage Merchant: If the cabbage merchant loses all his cabbages, will he die?

Not unless he is attacked (and not healed) or lynched.

12. Will the cabbage merchant lose a piece of cabbage for each player that visits him on one night?

No. The cabbage merchant will lose either one or zero cabbages on any given night, or grow an additional cabbage if he has fulfilled the requirements for doing so.

15. Does Tui know his identity?

It does, yes.

17. Cabbage Evolved win Conditions: I don't understand these. Can you rephrase this or provide an example?

The cabbage merchant's win condition does not change, however if he/she meets his/her win condition while in possession of more cabbages than they started with, the game will end with a cabbage merchant victory. In the survivor's case, living until the end of the game with an additional cabbage will cause the cabbage merchant to win alone, preventing the victory of any other factions who might otherwise win alongside him/her.

imo it's better to use the follow ability, at least as long as there is no confirmed better PR

katara: be careful, jet will surely try to convert you. it might be a good idea to use the freeze ability after a town lynch, unless there are important targets to heal like revealed TPRs

aang:
this is the most important one. as i said, i don't think revealing is a good idea. but i wonder if it's better to airbend or to visit people.
also i wonder if he should take the risk of revealing to the mafia if he visits without any real clues. then he'll be dead very soon. discuss

Reading the setup, Iroh is basically a glorified Survivor. The chances of Zuko actually jailing Aang and releasing him without a reveal from Aang (Which, honestly guys, would benefit Zuko more than anything...) to evolve the win condition are quite low.
It's going to be REALLY tough for Zuko to win this, so I'm pretty sure Iroh will just go with the flow and stay low. It'll be pretty easy for him to hide among the bunch of Citizens we have.

Good point, Momo. Additionally, if Jet dies and a claimed Earth Kingdom Citizen flips Freedom Fighter RP role then we will know that the Freedom Fighters have recruited Smellerbee.

I also wouldn't be adverse to having one pressured Earth Kingdom Citizen Reveal/get recruited to the Freedom Fighters and help lead the hunt for the Fire Nation because he can auto-clear all the people in the Freedom Fighters while maintaining some semblance of secrecy.

Also, to help clarify my argument:

If player A claims Water Tribe Cit, they have a 1/3 chance of being Tui(assuming they aren't lying). That's a pretty good chance, and I think the maf would take that chance and kill that player to try and gain allies before the town does.

OR, player A could simply claim Citizen. Now it's a 1/8 chance of being Tui(assuming they aren't lying). Not such a good chance.

TL;DR: Claiming just cit and not water/earth cit gives Tui more protection, thereby giving the town more protection by lessening the chances of FFs/traitors aligning with maf.

You're saying this as if Tui would reveal herself as a Water Citizen. If she has half a brain, she'll claim something else.

Well, if the Freedom Fighters have 5 recruits and then someone claims Earth Kingdom Citizen but it is not possible, then I would want the Freedom Fighters to know and deal with the fake claimer who is probably Fire Nation rather than be like "oh they must just be Water Tribe." I think the easiest way for us to win is to confirm a bunch of citizens by abusing the Freedom Fighter recruitment mechanic and then ask them to betray Jet while having other citizens convert into TPRs via Aang. Need questions answered completely first though in order to see if this is a viable plan.

I do acknowledge that it's a problem if people are forced to claim Water Tribe Citizen, Tui is a Water Tribe Citizen, and the mafia tries to hunt down Tui, but maybe Tui isn't even a Water Tribe Citizen, so in that case, mafia will just be targeting citizens instead of Aang/Appa/other more important roles.

Do we get last wills?

All citizens, leave your starting role (i.e. Water Tribe Citizen or Earth Kingdom Citizen) in your last will.

My entire plan ofc depends on what happens if Tui is visited by maf and Aang at the same time. If FNs condition evolves anyway, then I believe it should be enacted. If it doesn't, then we need to discuss whether or not to enact it anyway, or come up with something else.

@Momo what would she claim? PR? That'd make her an even bigger target. Neutral? Still a target. Etc, etc. Universal cit IS her safest claim.

@Warrior: this depends on FF cooperation, which we most likely will not get if they don't get Katara. Good plan, but I don't know how feasible it is.

I can see some situations where Fire Nation is eliminated, and it ends up being Team Avatar vs. Freedom Fighters and the former Earth Kingdom Citizens being willing to ditch Jet/Freedom Fighters to ensure a town win due to the nature of their reversible win condition.

If Smellerbee was recruited but is in the graveyard, before jet dies, will the Freedom Fighters break up?
If Jet dies, and then Smellerbee dies the next night, will the Freedom Fighters break up? Or can the Freedom Fighters only break up the night that Jet dies?

In OoO, Aang acts after kills, so I assume Tui will die before being visited by Aang.

Looking at win conditions, I think town can win with both FFs and Ts by having all 3 evolve their win condition, then kill Ts + Aang. It does not say in their win condition that Ts have to survive; just that Zuko must defeat Zhao. So once he has done that, he and Iroh can die, then Aang can die, and all 3 win.

I agree that Aang may not follow this plan, and of course it's only possible if he does. It involves risk on his part, but also the potential of great reward for us.

I disagree that Zuko has no reason to follow the plan. Zuko has every reason to follow the plan. Zuko's current win objective requires him to defeat all 3 major factions. Given the relative weakness of his alignment this is practically impossible. However, should Zuko go along with the plan then he only needs to defeat Zhao which is a far more probable possibility. In fact, I'd be surprised if Zuko isn't praying for this to go ahead.

Read on the wiki that Pathik predates Aang's birth by 43ish years, but was still alive 100 years after Aang's disappearance. Additionally, the way season 1 of the show begins, everyone is shocked Aang has reappeared and rumors begin to spread of the Avatar's return. So I tried to word it as if I really was a guru that had spent a 100 years meditating/whatever else I do, and then heard the rumors that the Avatar had returned. Also as I am a teacher for him and he's the Avatar, I was jesting about how he must have disappeared off for a 100 years to train/stuff, and maybe he could teach me a few things.

I am angry with scmafia.com right now. To be blunt I dont like the players that make posts with no content. I dont like the FoS on active players with some that have hardly posted. I do not like the the pictures and 'Omg Lol' conversation that is instigated with them. I think it is scummy that a player (Tho) would make posts and then hide. I think it is scummy that a player (Hama) would lurk/troll so hard and then try to play so town when called out. I also do not like these last second check in posts. 'Omg I just noticed the game is going so take my check in as a town that skipped a day of town contribution without notice.' Yeah. I took notice.

You can be angry at "wasted time" all you want. That doesn't mean you leave the entire game for an unknown about of time because of that one small occurrence.

Let's get some ideas on what roles the Mafia/Fire Nation might have. The Mafia looks to be in a similar format to the last FM(also hosted by Slaol) (1 leader and a number of unspecified roles). They weren't random mafia. They had been assigned and I would suspect that is exactly the same case here.

There are 3 of the following:


War Minister Qin
You may Arm a player not in your Fire Nation night chat with weapons at night. They may use them 1-time to Strike with them to kill a target.




Yuyan Archer
1-time you may Shoot a player at night. Killing them.




Fire Sage Shyu
You will have the power of another role, but require Admiral Zhao to die before you can win.




Malu the Magician
You may Amaze a player at night. Sending all that visit you to effect them.
You start with 1 charge, and earn another charge every 2 nights.





Bruiser
May Eliminate a player one time.
This kill bypasses swapping, healing, and role blocks.




Consgiliere
Can Investigate a player for their role at night.




Consort
Can Role Block a player at night, preventing them from acting. Can not be role blocked.




Framer
Can Frame a target at night, making them appear.
Fire Nation to Hakoda
Visiting the Mafia kill to Sokka and The Duke.




Blackmailer
May Silence a player at night, preventing them from talking or voting the next day.




Mafioso
May leave a Death Note if acting out the Fire Nation night kill.





Oin: Initially, I thought he was underpowered because they'd have to give the weapons to opposing factions which doesn't sound like a grand recipe for success. Though maybe a shrewd player could make this work in their favour. This role looks like more of a curse than a boon, but it does require clever thinking so it's possible.

Yuyan/Bruiser/Mafioso: Yuyan looks like a weaker version of the Bruiser. I've already spoken about the Bruiser in an earlier post. The Mafioso would seem like a terrific waste of a slot when there are only 4 mafia, not to mention that the name Mafioso doesn't remotely fit with the RP. I suspect there's only 1/3 of these roles and that it's the Yuyan archer.

Consigliere/Consort/Blackmailer: These are powerful and very useful mafia roles. I'd expect at least one of them.

Malu/Shyu: The uniqueness of these roles makes me almost certain they're in the setup. If it was me I would make Shyu the Yuyan archer.

Framer: Less useful in this setup than in others. Seems unlikely to appear.

Interesting. Inb4 Sokka/Hakoda/The Duke claim from Hama with a "[insert player name here] came up mafia, and framer is unlikely therefore we should lynch [insert player name here]"

I think that if we don't end up lynching today, Sokka would use his follow ability since it seems pointless to encourage someone at this stage of the game since alignments are still unknown.

I'm just wary of how Hama is constantly trying to shape the way we view the hidden mafia roles. He seems over obsesed with it to the point of being suspicious.

Hmmm. I have been giving some thought to this.

The setup allows us to side with another faction. I agree that it makes sense to try and bring the Traitors into alignment with us. The only alternative would be the Freedom Fighters, but they are not a viable alternative because it would involve having to expose Katara AND sell out Aang. That's not much of an option.

So in order for us to align with the Traitors Aang needs to be jailed by Zuko.

The logical way to expedite this process is for Aang to reveal himself and Zuko to jail him tonight. The Fire Nation then can't visit Aang, because if they do so Zuko will automatically slay the first visitor. Appa the BD is confirmed in the setup and can protect Aang on subsequent nights.

This is a gamble though, because if the Fire Nation has a Bruiser then they'd surely use it on Aang. However, that Bruiser would inevitably be killed by Zuko in the attempt. To be honest, I doubt the presence of a Bruiser. As a role it is not very powerful in the long-term beyond its single use. Its true power exists in its WIFOM possibility in the setup and I would hazard that was the hosts' intention all along. The Bruiser possibility exists to try and dissuade us from such strategies as this. However, I doubt the Fire Nation actually has one.

Therefore!

In summary: Aang should reveal himself today. Zuko should jail him tonight.

Uhhh what... Where is this stated? I can't see it in the setup anywhere. I know full well that vbulletin is capable of producing invisible night chats on-site and this was what we used for FMs 4-12 that I played in. Why would night-chats be off-site? Can Roku confirm this?

I see. I admit I didn't bother reading any of the pre-game questions because I always assume anything that's not clear pre-game will be clarified by the hosts in the final setup post, and because trolls ask 1000 questions about obscure mechanics that will never come to pass.

I was mistaken about the night chats. I admit I am surprised, because as I stated before, the software here (vBulletin) is more than capable of producing invisible night chats and it takes literally 10 seconds to setup.

I could be wrong, but aren't a lot of night chats made with anonymous accounts? Wouldn't that be the same for Zuko and Iroh? Do Zuko and Iroh know each others' identities? If they're known to each other, I'm pretty sure Zuko throwing Iroh under the bus is one of the most obvious plans in terms of Traitor-strategy

Yang, please hear the plan out. I have highlighted the line you posted that seems to be in error. The updated plan works regardless of the Mafia configuration. The Mafia could have 3 Bruisers and they still wouldn't be able to kill Aang because he will be immune every night.

The only point that needs clarification is when the Blue Spirit takes his form, and when Aang gains invulnerability.

I am more than happy to hear objections to my plan, but I will continue to debate them if they don't seem to make sense.

Yang, please hear the plan out. I have highlighted the line you posted that seems to be in error. The updated plan works regardless of the Mafia configuration. The Mafia could have 3 Bruisers and they still wouldn't be able to kill Aang because he will be immune every night.

The only point that needs clarification is when the Blue Spirit takes his form, and when Aang gains invulnerability.

I am more than happy to hear objections to my plan, but I will continue to debate them if they don't seem to make sense.


The plan is fine in theory. The only flaw is in human tendencies. If Aang is played by a player who is cautious it'll fail because they wont want to risk it. Aside from that I don't care enough.

It's not that it will fail. Aang initiates the plan by revealing today. If Aang refused to go ahead the plan would simply never be enacted. Nothing lost because nothing was ever started.
