View Full Version : get rid of godfather night immunity

ok so heres what im thinking: instead of having the option to make gf night immune, add an option to make a random mafia member die instead of gf if gf is attacked, or only allow him to have immunity as long as he has fellow mafia
reasoning:
sk night immunity makes sense; he is the ultimate night predator and no one should be able to beat him in a direct fight (arson burn isnt a direct fight). mafia godfathers, on the other hand, are only immune to assassinations because they surround themselves with soldatos that fight off any would-be killers. a godfather by himself is just a man, and usually not even a physically dominating man at that. he already has immunity to detection which makes sense because gfs are cunning leaders.
opinions?

i think it works on thing like that for paper ideas but then it becomes bad real quick
vig shoots gf (whos night immune) mafia memeber dies vig comes out and says "i shot X and Y died he must be mafia gf"
what about jailor execution? how would it work if consort takes the bullet does it still rb?
i think it a neat idea, i just think to implement something like this is more bad then good
my vote is no on this.

then go with the second option of making his immunity dependent on having other mafia in the game

Lone GF becomes Mafioso. I dislike mate. :/

he would retain his detection immunity regardless of the status of the other mafia

the second option is more viable that if all other mafia are gone it loses immunity. but then like damus said
lone gf spawning = sk mostly with possiblity of immune detection.
i mean we already have the option to make gf not immune at night but ppl will just rage and QQ if those options are not on becasue it has become the standard norm

I like the idea of it because gf is basically op sk with a team naturally but gf is stand alone in mafia because he is immune at night and he is immune to detection, which still doesnt help him any. Take those away and he is nerfed in half.

Same thing as I shot X, he is immune, he must be GF!

Jailing is perfect roleblock, He would directly execute the Godfather.

If we went with the idea that he is immune until all other mafia are dead, I think that it'd suck because, well, it wouldn't make sense. The way I see a role and a player seems very different to you.
When there is 1 role, I imagine an army of that role. When someone is an investigator, I imagine a group of investigators with a head investigator that check someone. It's weird to think of yourself as multiple people, but it makes more sense lore-wise. How can one investigator work out so much about someone at once? How can a consort rb the person who is attacking them that night? It must be some sort of head consort that sends an consort to rb the person, a head investigator that sends some investigators, exc.
I mean, why would a town only comprise of 15 people? Thinking about it like this makes more sense. The townie / mafia who talks during the day and gets lynched is the main representative of the doctors or the sheriffs or the kidnappers. When he dies, his employees go into discord and chaos and fall apart.
The only exception to this is the neutrals who I think are 1 person because if there was a group of serial killers it would be far more effective to attack multiple people. And why would there be a community of survivors? Survivors are stand-alone, apathetic and unloving so they'd feel no need to team with others.
So if the godfather is in fact the 5 heads of the 5 families of the mafia as well as him then it's highly feasible that a team of elite masterminds could escape one serial killer.

It's not the same thing at all. You are killing one bird with one stone.

Escort trumps Gf. Keep gf immunity, its what makes GF a unique role. Sure, Sheriff, Detective, most power roles would have a difficult time ascertaining him, but an escort will find him every time. That seems fair to me, just like the cult/mason mechanics. The whole point of gf is survival and anonymity, leave the immunity ability intact please ty.

except when gf is immune and escort doesnt detect immunity, which happens 65% of the time.
there is already an option on the gf to disable him as a killing role, requiring a mafioso to kill. obviously there are certain rp's that use mechanics like this. add this as an option.

it's true. It would probably be better to have the GF die instead of having a random Mafia member, that could've been hidden among the town well, die in his place.
