View Full Version : Video Game Consensus

TimeTrx
June 27th, 2013, 07:00 PM
I am taking a consensus of the video games people own and play. Please submit the top games (please limit yourself to no more than 10) that you play by the amount of hours you have recently (within a year or so) played on them. Please ignore Starcraft in this consensus or any of its custom games please, I know most of you play it (Mafia).

Please use this format:

<Name>'s Most Played Games:
1. <game 1>
2. <game 2>
....
10. <game 10>

For example:

TimeTrx's Most Played Games:
1. Crusader Kings 2
2. Civ 5
3. League of Legends
4. Half Life 2
5. Half Life
6. Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion
7. Halo 4
8. Team Fortress 2
9. Left 4 Dead 2

Thank you for your participation.

EDIT: Please no single player games in the consensus. Multi-player only, you will see the reason behind this soon.

what can i say, im a gamer.

I used to be a WoW addict, 10hours daily, I had a 450ish days played on WoW over a 3 year span. I quit WoW for reasons.

so in my opinion I play video games less than I used too.

Because 10 is a limit, that's too little for me and I can't make a proper list. I made a 20, instead.

1. MMORPG that occupies my time. Randomly between : World of Warcraft, Guildwars 2, Secret World, Aion,
2. Guitar Hero / Rock Band. I can boast about being one of the best at it, since I play it so much.
3. Disgaea 4 100%. Each character individually can become level 9999, weapons at 500+ level rating, etc.
4. Warcraft III, seriously - one of the best RTS game ever and highly addictive custom "arcade" maps.
5. Cossacks: Art of War. Perfectly balanced minus the endgame ship, great replayability.
6. Dark Cloud. 100% random generated dungeon floors, highly addictive. I got the WR on beating the game 8H 30M 42S.
7. Hitman Absolution. So many ways to kill all your victims, fine story, gameplay and graphics.
8. Metal Gear Solid series. Very long, addictive, so many ways to play the games, great story.
9. Starcraft II, highly addictive custom arcade maps, good competive play.
10. Kingdom Hearts. Screw Disney, I like the story and I like the combat. Very replayable, can make challenges.
11. Grand Theft Auto 3D series. 3, Vice City, 4, etc... All very addictive, good story and gameplay.
12. Fallout 3 / New Vegas. Forever to 100%, moral choices lead to multiple playthroughs.
13. Diablo II. Highly addictive, high replayability, multiple levels, too much forced grinding.
14. Simcity, create your own city in almost the way you want it to be. Strategy, addictive.
15. Pokemon. Always something new to play for each year and I have caugth all 649.
16. Mass Effect Trilogy. So many choices for all the games, good story.
17. The Sims 2. So many ways to play this, so many ways not to play this. Cheat? Family of 250+!
18. Final Fantasy X, has a high replayability, can make your own restriction challenges.
19. Zelda game series. Do I need to say more? Gameplay, strategy, etc. So many different games.
20. Onimusha series. Great games, great story, very difficult, replayability.

new vegas has more of the spirit of the original fallouts, with multiple paths that arent black and white choices

fallout 3 had a great story yes, but was pretty limited in gameplay, with only a few very clear good or bad choices. it made it a good art piece but part of what made fallout 1 and 2 great was the cheesy story and the depth of choices you could make, and how far they would follow you

because you fall in love with the story or the characters, and the game is just designed in such a way that really gets ur emotions going. and that just makes it an amazing game.

its like when sephiroth comes from behind and stabs aeris in the back, you don't see it coming, but you hate every second of it, and it makes you despise sephi even more and want to kill him for killing something so pure....

yeah but wouldn't playing it 5 times detract from the experience

not to mention you're playing the exact same sequence of events

ive beaten gears of war 1....... way more times than I care to admit(probably around 45), same goes for LoZ OoT, and any of the ratchet and clank games(3-10 times each). theyre all just awesome story/awesome gameplay, I love everything about them. just infinite replayability in my book. and ive played FF7 for soooo many hours, 6 files, mostly to try beating the game with different character teams, and also to try different methods on ruby/emerald.

its true, it is the same events, but theres usually just so much to do in these games between crafting, or finding new easter eggs, trying new techniques, (playing through LoZ with only 3 hearts, and never picking up the heart containers after a boss)

Well, honestly I can understand LoZ because of all the side stuff included

And definitely ratchet and clank, since there is a lot of different stuff you can do, and it's fun as hell

But Gears of War what

I don't particularly understand how you guys are landing story-based singleplayer games in your top 10

gonna explain the SP games i have

fallout 3: first, the game is very big. huge map, lots of side quests. do them all quests and discover the whole map takes some 100h. and it's really worth replaying the game because there are so many choices to make. for example play it again but this time as a bad guy
mass effect: also many side quests and worth replaying
pokemon: obvious, get good team on lvl 100 and gotta catch em all...
gta san adreas: there is a MP mod but i didn't play that so long. the map here is huge too and especially you can do so much shit in that game like try to survive against cops as long as possible. and even if you do only the missions you're occupied for more than 25 hours usually

so short summary, reasons to play SP only games long time:
- very long main story
- loads of other stuff to do apart from main story
- worth replaying because every time it's different because of choices

but i agree that it's not worth playing the singleplayer of something like call of duty for a long time. needs 6-8 hours and replaying is boring
