Role name: Merchant
Description: You are a greedy salesman who only cares about making a profit.
Alignment: Neutral benign
Abilities: At night you can sell a gun to your target. Your target gains the ability to kill a target once in addition to their other night actions. It can be used by typing -shoot # at night. During death descriptions the kill is described as shot at close range. In the case of a kill-capable role using the shoot command and their night ability at the same time, the night ability will be used instead.
Win Condition: Successfully see your target kill with your weapon. If your target dies before using it or if the kill fails, you become a jester.
Host Options:
1) Limited to 1 sale. (default on)
2) Limited to 2 sales.
3) Can target self (default off)
Pros: Can tip the scales of a game.
Cons: Target can opt not to use the shot.
Overall effect on the metagame if implemented: More deaths at night to a small degree.
Additional comments: Sounds like a fun role.

Some thoughts.
1: This role is hard to implement.
2: The use of a Benign is interesting, but the win condition needs work. It should get a target like Executioner, and he must sell guns to people to see them night kill his target.
3: Targeting self is terrible
4: You list pros as 'Can tip the scales of a game', but most Benigns, so far, are minor players and not large impact roles.
5: You list cons as 'Target can opt not to use the shot', but nearly 100% of players would use it immediately.
6: The game does not need more killing roles at the moment.

1. It would likely be difficult to add. I agree.
2. The idea of this win condition is that the product he sold is good. Not sure but this could be tweaked.
3. Yep.
4. Disagree on this. Survivors, Jesters, Amnesiacs, and Execs can have huge impacts on the game.
5. Hence the shot at close range description. If a detective sees this then that person might get lynched for it.
6. This is a matter of opinion. I tend to agree but in certain game modes it's not always a bad thing.

2: should be tweaked, as he wins on night 2 automatically
4: Survivors, Jesters and Executioner CAN have huge impacts, but most of the time dont. They have large impact on about 1/50 games they are in, but have minor impact on every game simply by being possible. Merchant does not yet have that impact. Amnesiac is SUPER HIGH impact, but Amnesiac should really have a different catagory with Benign roles more its style, like Merchant.
5: People would just mention they got the gun, and the Merchant would most likely say he gave it to him. Effect is null.
6: 'certain game modes'. You a fan of Citizen or Coroner? If so, bravo, but the majority of games (100/100) will not be right for it or appreciate it. Witch Doctor has 'certain games', but is built in improperly 100% of the times it shows up

5. And what's to stop mafia scum from claiming this?

Lack of anyone claiming Merchant to support it. As well as further investigation. Odds are there isn't just 1 Detective in each game. Just have a second investigative confirm you the next night, or the Detective check you again. You won't have a kill, so it will go easily.

Actually i like this, but change it a bit:

Make the merchant choose a target, and give a gun to that target, the target doesn't know he received a gun (option on-off?)
(maybe u can also do it by day, like "Sell #")

then at night / or following night, the person uses his night abillity normally, but instead of his abillity, it causes him to shoot that person (so for example, it can make a doc shoot his target instead of saving, or witch doc kill a cultist friend instead) - this can do havoc and be rly fun.

then if ur predefined / chosen target is killed, u win, and u cant give more guns.

what u say?

That actually sounds pretty cool, but the class would have to be renamed.
