Role Name: Coroner
Role Affiliation: Town
Active Ability: Death Investigation (limited standard: 2)

Coroners are known for conducting investigations into suspicious deaths to determine the cause. The Coroner would be able to selective activate an ability on themselves (like using a vest) which (assuming they survive the night) would give them detailed knowledge on how each person died last night.

How does this differ from turning on Night Sequence? Not only would the Coroner be able to detect the class responsible for the Death of the individual, the Coroners report could also stipulate if the death was due to role blocking a Serial Killer, If a doctor had attempted to save them (double kill), or if the target was subjected to an attack that skips immunity (Arsonist/Hitman). The Coroner could also (maybe a host option as this could be quite a hard counter) be able to detect the Role of the deceased person even in the presence of a Janitor.

The report would not show who did it, as that would be Overpowered as hell

Skilled Coroners could then be able to tell, say, if a Serial Killer killed his target and no one else died, it is more likely that the Escort blocked a Mafia if no one reports being saved. Knowing of a double kill can also stop the town from lynching a target the escort blocked. Although, I guess Night Sequence would do that too :P.

My first role idea which came to me while I was studying ;P. Would love to hear what some of you think... despite it's similarity to Night Seq.

Kinda sounds like the Forensics Investigator(which isn't on the poll for some reason).
Imo, it's a fine idea, but you should rather have it target a person at night instead of simply getting a full log for everyone who died.

i like the idea :) but as previous posted stated... getting the infos on everyone could be a bit extreme.
But targeting 1 ppls only on the otherside seems a bit thin... Maybe he can select 1 person every night & the persons he selects will be allocated for the rest of the game? So night 1=1 person, night 2=2 persons... and so on...

The problem i see with this role is that he will receive a lot of "trust" from the townies. So everytime less ppls die then killers the townies will auto lynch the guy blocked by the escort. .. as not always ppl state when they get healed.
Y should a randomer or a mafioso state it... also townies not always state it...

Also roles with auto-ptrotection will make this a bit chaotic... as most times ppls with auto ptrotection who gets shot dont reveal it. If then in Night X with 2 killers one tries to kill GF & the escort will block someone... i dont see how this blocked guy will stand a defendeing chance. On Pub-games it will be a 500% dead for the blocked dude :)

If the coroner had infinite checks, yes this would be the case.

However the Coroner can only use his skill twice by default (1-4 like the vig shots settable by the host) So a full log is balanced in that regard.

What value does this role actually offer to the town? What good does letting the town know a doctor tried to save somebody?

Basically everything this role does aside from that is already covered in the game mechanics. I just don't see it being needed.
