January 1, 1959 5:23 PM – The Kashmir Restaurant
The survivors of the massacre could no longer remain hidden in the Kashmir. Tensions were high. They had spent the entire day arguing amongst themselves, to seemingly no avail. A few members rummaged among the dead for supplies. No one knew the state of Rapture outside of the Restaurant. The air outside the doors smelled of smoke and burned rubber. The Refugees may not trust their neighbors, but they did know the only way to survive their journey was to remain together.
Arcadia was believed to be intact. It would be suicidal to destroy the only source of air in Rapture. They passed under a lone security camera. Its red light passing back and forth through the hall. The survivors hugged the wall as they passed under it. Stepping over charred corpses. They did not know who was operating the cameras, or who was watching.
It took several trips over the bathyspheres to move all of the survivors into the Arcadia Pod, but the sight raised spirits. Large trees, smoke free air, a rushing stream, and waterfall. They would need to seek out supplies, but with access to the fresh water that nourishes the trees.. They would not die of thirst in these dark days.
No one was lynched.
