    1) Doesn't matter what you think - other candidates ARE on the ballot

    2) If a third party gets 5% of the vote in the general election they are eligible for the Presidential Election Campaign Fund’s grant for the next election. This is huge in terms of giving third parties cash on hand to be able to get their names out there and possibly reshape American politics.

    So fix your dumb poll.

Loyalty is important, but there's a difference between being committed to your country and obedient to your boss. =p

HC and other democratic officials have the wrong kind of loyalty. You're supposed to fight for the people the democrats appeal to, not the democrats themselves! XD

If people actually voted HC because she "seemed more loyal"... LOL...

Re: Who are you voting for?

Due to several complaints we have received about this thread, I have modified the poll to be less biased towards third-party/"minor" candidates. I have added all candidates that appear on a ballot in any state. In addition, I have sorted the list by alphabetical order of the first name of each presidential candidate, to remove any potential bias as to the choices. Given the turbulence of this coming election, I feel that it's our duty to sway voters' minds as little as possible, and let facts do the talking.

No, Bernie Sanders is officially a Socialist. He ran on the Democratic ticket, however.

Ron Paul, A Libertarian, ran on the Republican ticket in '08. His delegates were kicked out of caucuses.

No way in hell is any party letting someone from another party move in and take the nomination.

    I can't say that I blame them.

As far as I was aware, parties aren't bound to ideologies. Hasn't the ideological outlook of the democratic and republican parties shifted several times? The word socialist is kinda empty anyway. It only seems to mean "I want an unspecified amount of social welfare and corporation regulation". It's a matter of image more than anything.

I know I'm talking purely on an idealistic level, but I don't see why people should feel any sense of loyalty or team-mentality in regards to parties. It's something that seems exclusive to the US as well.

This ideology thing looks more like an excuse to support your buddies getting power, rather than the people who seem most suited to power. Many republicans have endorsed Clinton over Trump, even though Trump represents so many of the republican values anyway, I heard. The Clintons are just more popular among the elites lulz.

I think part of the reason Bernie lost the candidacy was because of him being misaligned with the party views. But I read a post somewhere talking about how the biggest reason was that his campaign was disorganized as fuck. According to people who volunteered for his campaign, volunteers for Bernie spent a lot of time protesting for social issues/against Trump and trying to turn votes as compared to Obama when he ran against Clinton. Yes, he had a strong start just like Obama did against Clinton in 2008, but the difference is that Bernie volunteers took too much effort in trying to convert opposition voters rather than spurring undecided/pro-Bernie voters to actually go out and vote, as well as putting much lesser emphasis on data collection, statistics tracking, and data entry than Obama's campaign did.

Winning an election is largely an exercise in marketing, that's where Bernie failed and Trump is succeeding.

    You figured it out.

That's exactly what's going on in some circles.

But still, when there are active parties that support a candidate's affiliation and ideology, then the candidate should run on that ticket, not try to take over another party.
