    [S-FM] A game of Fate

My GM-ish soul requested me to host a game.

This is my first try to make a game, so I would highly appreciate, almost request suggestions and advice.

I have a rough plot in my mind, a couple of fixed twists, but it will depend mostly on what happens in the game.

So, the main trick of this game: One investigative role is revealed on Day 2!
This would give town a person to completely trust, as well as provides awesome circular-logic for the Mafia and Doctor. Who to heal, who to kill?

    Okay, the role list:

    Evil Chosen:
    Godfather
    Hidden Chosen
    Hidden Chosen

    Good Chosen:
    Sheriff
    Doctor
    Hidden Chosen
    Hidden Chosen
    Hidden Chosen

Should I change the fixed Sheriff to Investigator, perhaps?

    Other Good people:
    Citizen
    Citizen
    Citizen

    Chaotic Chosen:
Hidden Chaotic Killing Chosen (Spree Killer)
    Hidden Chaotic Non-killing Chosen

    Okay, the possibilities:
Hidden Chosen: Investigator (change to Sheriff if fixed role is changed), Vigilante, Bus Driver, Escort, Jailor, Bodyguard, Gunsmith, Detective.
Hidden Chosen: Consigliere, Consort, Framer, Mafioso, Drug Dealer, Lawyer, Kidnapper
    Chaotic Chosen:
    Killing: Spree Killer
Non-killing: Jester, Survivor, Executioner, Student, Witch

I should really narrow these down, suggestions would once again help.

    Role Cards:
Sheriff: You may check one person each night. If you check a member of the Evil Chosen: Your target is a member of the Evil Chosen. If you check a Chaotic Killing Chosen: Your target works for noone, his only objective is to kill.
You win with Good Chosen and other Good people.

Investigator: You may check one person each night. Results:
Your target doesn't work for any obvious Evil, but nor does he for Good - Citizen/Godfather/Survivor/Jester/Student
Your target has the ability to kill - Vigilante/Jailor/Mafioso
Your target seems to switch people every night - Bus Driver/Kidnapper
Your target stays close to other people at night - Consort/Escort/Bodyguard
Your target often uses knives - Doctor/Spree Killer
Your target seeks to know the identity of other people - Investigator/Consigliere
Your target has enemies - Sheriff/Executioner
Your target follows one target during the night - Detective/Lawyer/Framer
Your target does uncommon actions - Gunsmith/Witch

(Suggestions would help with investigation results)

Doctor: You may heal one target each night, protecting him from one attack. You will know if your target is attacked.

Vigilante: You may kill one target each night excluding the first one, since you do not have any evidence to find who is guilty. You may shoot three targets.

Bus Driver: You may switch two targets each night, any actions on those targets will be switched. You may switch yourself. Your target will know that he's been switched.

Escort: You may block one target each night, cancelling his actions.

Jailor: You may jail one target each night (you must choose the target during the day), the target will be blocked, you will have an anonymous night chat with him, and you may execute your target, ignoring invulnerabilities. You may execute two targets. Can not execute after lynch.

Bodyguard: You may protect one target each night. If your target is attcaked, you will kill the attacker, ignoring invulnerabilities, but you will die as well.

Gunsmith: You may give a one-use gun to a target each night. The target may use the gun any next night instead of his role ability to kill someone.

Detective: You may choose someone to follow each night. You will see who the target visits that night.

Godfather: you are the leader of the chosen ones, you may order a member to attack someone each night. You may attack yourself. You are immune to detection. You are invulnerable at night.

Consigliere: You may check one person each night. Your investigation results are the same as the investigators.

Consort: You may block one person each night, cancelling their actions.

Framer: You may choose one target each night to frame. You may choose who the target looks like to the investigator.

Mafioso: You may be sent to kill one target each night. You have armor that can protect you from one attack for one night.
(Without this the Mafioso is basically an Evil Chosen with no personal ability.)

Drug Dealer: You may choose to drug one target each night. You can choose one of the following: Attacked and healed, blocked, switched, witched.

Lawyer: You may change one targets last will for that night only.

Kidnapper: You may switch two targets, any actions made to them will be switched.

Spree Killer: You may choose a target each night. You will kill all people that visit your target that night. Every time you accumulate 3 kills, you must skip one night. you are invulnerable at night. You only win with other Chaotics.

Jester: Your objective is to get lynched during the day. You may visit a target each night. Your target will be notified.

Executioner: You will get a Good Chosen target. Your target must be lynched. If your target dies during the night, you will get a new target. If your new target also dies, you will become a Jester.

Survivor: Your objective is to survive. You have vests. You may choose to put on a vest during the night. If you put on a vest, you will be immune to attacks for that night.

Witch: You may control one target each night. You may choose who your target visits that night. He will not be notified. Your objective is to see the Good Chosen dead.

Student: You may choose someone to be your mentor on night 1. From night 2, you will be able to chat with your mentor. If your mentor dies, you will become the role of your mentor.

Citizen: Your simple objective is to see all Evil Chosen dead, as well as Chaotic Killings, and a possible Witch.

The Good Chosen objective is to see Evil Chosen dead, Chaotic Killing dead, Witch dead.

Evil Chosen objective is to see Good Chosen dead, Chaotic Killing dead.

    Chaotics have their own objectives.

(Goodness, I'm tired after this much...)

    Order of actions:
    Jailor jailing
    Witch
    Escort/Consort/Medical Student block
    Bus Driver/Kidnapper
    Framer
    Investigation roles
    Drug Dealer/Lawyer/Gunsmith
    Jester
    Bodyguard
    Evil Chosen/Chaotic Chosen/Good Chosen kills
    Doctor
    Detective
    Jailor kill

I want as much suggestions who to remove as possible. I have no idea who should I remove, as I'm not sure how the game should work.
I would like some of those that have played a few games to say possible roles to remove.

If this gets approved, I will start sign-ups at about the second day of FM XII, and start the game after it finishes.
Yes, I know that's a long time, I made that on purpose so people could suggest me what to change.

    Rules:
All votes must be made in red.
All questions must be posted in green (I would request darker green, I'm partially colorblind)
No post editing, if I notice any edited post I will instantly modkill the person who edited his post.
Day and night are both 24 hour long
Minimum 3 posts that contribute to discussion, time between them doesn't matter, you can make one after another if you want to, but keep it constructive. Failing to do this for 2 days will result in a modkill.
No PM quoting, no requests for PMs. Breaking these rules will result in a modkill.
Unlimited spam on Day 1, max 3 spammy posts from Day 2 and on. Breaking this will result in a warning and later a modkill.
No jail chat requests or quotes/pastes.
    Standard voting.
Night actions must be sent atleast 45 minutes before night ends so I can prepare everything. Last wills can be sent as late as 15 minutes before night ends.
All Evil Chosen members can kill, but only one can kill per night, and that Chosen will not have his other night actions for the night.
After a person is voted for lynch, day will continue but the lynched person won't be able to talk anymore.

My eyes and fingers hurt >.>

Edit: I'll see how it works with clementine's suggestions, but I'll slowly continue to edit and change everything. I don't want to completely change everything in one time. Now I'm removing arsonist, I'm considering changing the main investigative role with the suggested Undercover Agent, also what do you think about Gunsmith in this case? It looks somwhat OP with a confirmed Sheriff/Inves, they'll just request for gun whenever they find something and shhot. Leave or remove?

Eidt nr.3: I'm leaving with the simple role reveal for this one, it's meant to be early revealed. Medical Student removed. I don't want too many advanced roles here.

Edit nr.4: Added rules, clarified a couple of things in role cards.

Edit nr.5: Neutral Chosen is fixed Spree Killer, investigative role revealed on Day 2.

Edit. nr.5: Minor changes before sign-ups.

I will update this once in a while, as I see things that should be changed/removed.
For now, I'm removing Janitor and Coroner, they're pretty boring anyway.

Re: [S-FM] A game of Fate

I think it would be interesting for a sheriff or investigator to have the option to reveal themselves (much like mayor) but upon revealing, they lose their investigative powers. This way, there is this conflict: Do you reveal to the town early so that you are a confirmed person to trust, or do you reveal later after you have found suspicious people and want the town to trust you. Either way runs the risk of being killed by mafia upon revealing. If you reveal early, you obtain no investigation results, and if you decide to reveal late, you run the risk of dying before you can use your reveal or that too much town has died to make use of your information. I would maybe call this role an "undercover FBI agent" with the option to "reveal badge" or something that is the action to prove their innocence.

I think a spree killer would be extremely interesting to use as one of the chaotic chosen. This way, if the investigator is revealed, the spree killer can target the investigator hoping to catch the doctor or mafioso, ironically acting as another layer of protection for the revealed investigator. The doctor/mafioso has to decide if he should protect the investigator or if he thinks the spree killer will be there, and the spree killer needs to weigh whether he should visit the revealed one if people believe he would visit or if he should visit another target instead. For this reason, I think it would be good to have a spree killer as a confirmed role in your setup, or at the very least an electromaniac as the evil neutral to add complexity in terms of who people decide to visit or not. I don't really have an opinion about the other town/mafia/benign neutral roles at the moment.

I'd be interested in playing this game. It sounds interesting!

Re: [S-FM] A game of Fate

I prefer Day 2, and you should random who it is at the start of the game. While the Undercover Agent would be plausible in a setup without a Lookout, I'm not entirely sure if it's a good idea to give a role a free claim when they want. (If mafia faked a claim, they could be royally butterfingered when the undercover agent comes out to slam them.)

I do agree that the spree killer might be fun and balanced enough in a setup with few visiting roles. Also, you should work out its interaction with the bodyguard. Would it kill the bodyguard before he could shoot?

    Approved.
