    Last wills are now a big part of the gameplay and can be used to lie, wifom or communicate with a sleuth.

    Theme:

    Set in the year 2682, the world has regressed in the wake of countless natural disasters and wars. The Gulf Stream has shut down, plunging Northern Europe into a new Ice Age. A small nomadic tribe has settled by a river in what used to be Norway. For the first time in years they have found a safe haven in which to raise their children. There is plenty of fish to catch and elk to skin for their warm fur.

    The king of a neighbouring tribe was jealous of the life they lived. He told the war chief of his tribe to bring two of his finest warriors to kill everyone in the tribe and to take their food and fur. He couldn't spare anyone else however as he was worried about the rumours of a group of strange men from the East.

    These strange men called themselves The Preservers. They wanted a resurgence of the old ways of technology and industry and were prepared to do anything to get their way. The king had heard word that they were taking slaves from villages and killing all those that resisted with a strange device that could fire projectiles faster than the eye could see.

    Role Cards:

    Armoursmith
    Can give out one piece of armour at night. The target will be informed that they have received armour the following day. Armour protects the user from one attack upon use, but does not expire until used. Armoursmiths cannot target themselves.

    Bodyguard
    Each night you may choose one player to protect and one person to keep an eye on. If that player is attacked you will sacrifice your life for them and take down the attacker with you. If the person you chose to keep an eye on is the one attacking the player you chose to protect, you will survive the duel. Your attack does not pierce immunity.

    Citizen
    You have the power of the vote and your voice.

    Cop / Insane Cop
    Can investigate a player during the night, and will be informed if their target is Suspicious (Mafia) or Unsuspicious (Town or Neutral).

    An insane cop will be told they are a regular cop. The Insane Cop will see the Mafia as Unsuspicious, while Town and the Neutral will appear to be Suspicious.

    Coroner
    Can investigate a dead body at night. You will find out your target's last will, role, how they really died, and who they targeted each night.

    Detective
    Every night, you can follow a player and discover who he visited that night.

    Doctor
    You may heal a target at night, protecting them from one attack. Your target will not be informed they have been healed, unless they are attacked.

    Escort
    Can choose to block a target a night. Target may not take any night actions. Target will receive the same message as if he was blocked by a Consort or a Medical Student.

    Gunsmith
    Every night, you can give any player a gun. They will then be allowed to shoot another player or themselves once on any night.

    Journalist
    May choose to interview one target per night. The interview will be published anonymously the next day to the whole town. The journalist may add his own article alongside the interview.

    Investigator
    Every night, you can target a player and find out a list of possible roles that they can be.

    Lookout
    Every night, you can target a player and get a list of all players that visited them that night.

    Mason
    Can attempt to recruit someone each night. If your target is a citizen or the journalist he will be recruited. If your target is mafia he will be informed of your identity.

    Medical Student
    Player will be told they are a regular Doctor. Has the ability to heal players. Also has the ability to roleblock players. The first night action will be randomised, and then it alternates between the heal and the block.

    Sleuth
    Can read the current last will of a living player at night. If he tries to read the last will of a sleuth or dirty sleuth, he will be informed that his target's last will cannot be deciphered.

    Veteran
    Can go on alert twice. His attacks do NOT ignore immunities and healing, but when on alert he is immune to all attacks and manipulation.

    Vigilante
    Can shoot a player at night only. Has 2 bullets.

    Corrupt Journalist
    May choose to interview one target per night. The interview will be published anonymously the next day to the whole town. The journalist may add his own article alongside the interview and may edit his target's interview.

    Executioner
    Target will always be Town. If your target is killed at night you will become a jester.

    Jester
    May visit another player at night, but that target will not be notified. If you are lynched, one player who voted you will die at random.

    Witch
    At night can force one player to target another player. Can make her target visit himself, and can make her target visit the Witch. If her target is a role with no night action or has spent their limited charges on their action, he will still visit whoever the Witch told him to. The manipulated target will be told they have been controlled.

    Actress
    At night may target a player. The targets role is not revealed, but if the Actress dies she will appear to be that role in the graveyard. The Actress will disguise herself as the last target she visited - she does not need to pick a target every night. Shows up as the target she is acting as to investigators. Is still detectable by cops.

    Blackmailer
    May target a player at night - that player may not talk during the next day chat, except a single post which may read "I have been blackmailed.". The blackmailed player may only vote a maximum of two times.

    Consigliere
    Every night, you can target a player and find out a list of possible roles that they can be.

    Consort
    Can choose to block a target at night. Target may not take any night actions. Target will receive the same message as if he was blocked by an Escort or a Medical Student.

    Dirty Sleuth
    Can read the current last will of a living player at night. If he tries to read the last will of a sleuth or dirty sleuth, he will be informed that his target's last will cannot be deciphered.

    Drug Dealer
    May drug a player at night. The player will be informed that they have been blocked, witched, given a gun, given armour or attacked+healed, chosen by the drug dealer.

    Fabricator
    If sent to kill for the Mafia, may make the killing appear to come from another source. Can fabricate a kill to make it look like it came from a vigilante, the other mafia team, a veteran, a jester suicide, or a gunsmith gun.

    Framer
    May frame a target at night. A cop (of any kind), an investigator, a consigliere, a lookout and a detective will all receive false information from your target. If a sleuth tries to read the last will of your target he will receive your last will instead. The framer may choose the information each role receives.

    Godfather
    Can send a member of the mafia or himself to kill someone. He cannot be tracked and appears to be a citizen to investigative roles.

    Janitor
    Limited to two cleans. May clean someone at night; if the player is killed during the night, their role won't be revealed in the graveyard and the Janitor gains exclusive access to their last will. Unsuccessful cleaning attempts will not use up the charge.

    Lawyer
    May change his target's last will to anything he wants. Does not see his target's last will. The effect only works for the night it is used.

    Mafioso
    Can participate in the mafia's kill vote.

    Rules

    Rep messages and PMs are NOT allowed.
    Editing posts is NOT allowed.
    No outside discussion is allowed.
    There will be no clues in the RP.
    Only the mafia can send death notes.
    Game will start on Night 0 to allow the mafia to allocate their roles to each member.
    Day will be 48 hours long.
    Night will be 24 hours long.
    Day will not end early once someone has been lynched but the vote will be locked. The lynched player may continue to talk until the day is over.

    Hmm it is looking good for the most part, should be exciting to get into an mfm with two mafia teams. I like it for the most part and think it is pretty well thought out, I don't mind all the role possibilities as much as when I first looked at it. A few criticisms I would have are...

    1) Why does the actress show up in the citizen category when investigated while alive? Actress should be investigated as the role the actress takes, also why not actor?

    2) Medical Student is a dumb role, I hate roles that don't actually tell you what they are but I am willing to give insane cop a chance. This role just adds unnecessary confusion with no real depth or wifom to play.

    3) Fabricator is pretty underpowered and useless to the mafia, you could fabricate it as a jester suicide but if no one lynched a jester you know it is a mafia kill. If there are two vigilante kills you know one was a mafia kill. I like the implications of it being in the possibility of roles but not in the actual role list.

    4) Mafioso shouldn't be in the sheriff investigation group but rather the vigilante/fabricator group.

    5) I think the slueth role is a good idea but won't provide as much wifom as you envision. I plan on writing "fuck off sleuth" in my last will.

    6) Corrupt journalist is kind of a bitch to win as isn't it? You have to survive, the town has to lose, and you have very little power to actually influence things. Also I would take it from the random neutral list and make the role list be journalist/corrupt journalist instead of citizen/journalist.

    1) That's a good idea. I'll have the actress be investigated on the role she takes and if she has not taken a role she will show up in the citizen category. I just took the name of the role as actress. One name is better than Actress / Actor and that was the name used in M-FM III.

    2) I like medical student because it gives one person two actions and makes them more versatile. I don't think it would be hard to work out that you are the medical student as you would probably know when someone you tartet claims to be blocked.

    3) Fabricators could be used to claim vigi or make it look like a veteran kill. For all the town know the mafia kill could have been blocked or healed so other kills could be believed. It just adds extra confusion for the town and has gameplay implications in role claims and lookout / detective results.

    4) I wanted a mafia role in each investigation category. As it stands you would never lynch someone who has been investigated as a cop because he can only be a cop, jester or executioner. I'd rather not have 2 mafia roles in the same category because then you would almost always lynch someone claiming vigi because he is much more likely to be mafia.

    5) That's your choice but a sheriff for instance be using their last will to communicate with the sleuth so the sleuth reveals with the sheriff's investigation results instead of him or the mafia could do the same thing to convince the sleuth they are the sheriff and to get the sleuth to reveal himself. I wrote loads of other gameplay possibilities in the sleuth thread. It's the players' choice how much they want to utilise this role. If you write fuck off sleuth in your last will and you die as a sheriff then the town wont know your investigation results. Remember that last wills are used for other things as well.

    6) Corrupt Journalist could be hard to win as but you are hardly a priority target for town. He could use the comment part of his interview to wifom the mafia away from him and he can also edit people's interviews. By doing this he could receive information from the mafia. Say he interviews a mafia and the mafia thinks a corrupt journalist interviewed him. The mafia could then tell the corrupt journalist to use a code word in chat to reveal himself so that the mafia don't kill him. The corrupt journalist could then edit the secret message out of the publication and reveal himself to the mafia so he is not killed by them. The journalist isn't really a power role so I think he fits better in the citizen category. I also don't want journalist / corrupt journalist as confirmed roles.

    I've set up the night and dead chats and have started thinking about the RP so it will be ready to start as soon as FM XI finishes. I'm hoping it will land on my holiday but even then a lot of my time is going to be taken up by revision

    I'll post the signups when I think FM XI only has a day or two left in it. When the players are finalised I'll post a prologue and send out roles cards, 24 hours later night 0 will start and 24 hours after that Day 1 will start, which should coincide with the ending of FM XI or just after it.

    I like the bigger games because there is more stuff you can do with the setup but atm I'm feeling sick and have got 3 practical exams this week so I'm not having much fun with it.

    Please clarify:
    Say I receive armour and use it. Does the armour stay on me until I get attacked (even if its 2 nights later) or is it normal that it gives +1 to life (like a doc heal) for that night only (regardless of being attacked or not).


    Other questions:
    Does a converted journalist (to masons) retain his abilities?

    How does framing effect detective and lookout results specifically?

    Where does the lawyers abilities fall on the order of operations?
