    Nkosi sikelel iAfrika

    Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika
    Maluphakanyisw' uphondo Yizwa imithandazo yethu,
    Nkosi sikelela, thina lusapho Iwayo.
Uit die blou van onse hemel,'
Uit die diepte van ons see,
    Oor ons ewige gebergtes,
    Waar die kranse antwoord gee,
Sounds the call to come together,
    And united we shall stand,
Let us live and strive for freedom,
    In South Africa our land.

Du gamla, Du fria, Du fjällhöga nord
    Du tysta, Du glädjerika sköna!
Jag hälsar Dig, vänaste land uppå jord
Din sol, Din himmel, Dina ängder gröna!

Du tronar på minnen från fornstora da'r
Då ärat Ditt namn flög över jorden
Jag vet att Du är och Du blir vad Du var
Ja, jag vill leva jag vill dö i Norden!

Låt oss starta en ny tradition av nationalsånger här!

So uh the last two lines would be:
Ik weet dat je bent en zal blijven wat je was
Ja, ik wil leven, ik wil doden in ‘t Noord!

Din sol, din himmel, dina ängder gröna would be:
Jouw zon, jouw(e) hemel(en), jouwe groene velden (?)

and finally Ditt namn flög över jorden would be:
Jij naam vloog over de (hele?) wereld/aarde

Some things are rather similar, other not so much.
One thing that’s immediately apparent is that Swedish nouns directly incorporate the definite article within themselves; there’s no separate definite article. In dutch, this is not the case - there’s two definite articles (three in some dialects): het (also spelled/pronounced ‘t), and de (and also den in certain dialects)

    Re: Nkosi sikelel iAfrika

I found the Dutch translation on Wikipedia.

Gij oude, Gij vrije, Gij bergachtig noorden.
    Gij stille, Gij vreugderijke schone!
Ik groet U, lieflijkste land op Aarde,
Uw zon, Uw hemel, Uw groene streken,
Uw zon, Uw hemel, Uw groene streken.
Gij troont op herinneringen van grootse dagen,
toen Uw naam geëerd over de Aarde vloog.
Ik weet dat Gij zijt en Gij zult zijn wat Gij waart.
Ja, ik wil leven en sterven in het Noorden,
ja, ik wil leven en sterven in het Noorden.

’Gij’ is a really formal way of saying you. Uw is basically a formal way of saying ‘your’
my translation was mostly correct tho. Apart from the word in the sentence with vloog

I do believe that this is easier to understand than the original Swedish, my personal bias notwithstanding

    Re: Nkosi sikelel iAfrika

Nice info about Dutch. And no, that's google translated Swedish from English because "let's" and "tradition" (which apparently is said tradition in Swedish too?) were not part of my vocabulary.

And yes, chances are you will find a language you actually speak more understandable than one you don't lol.
