    Harry Potter: Quidditch Edition

Hello! Now, this might be slightly different from what you are used to but I 'come' from a different forum (where I play mafia). I wanted to show you how we play it there. It might be a bit more complicated but I would be thankful if you took time and read it through.

Note: All the players will receive their roles and characters randomely. Before the game starts, the host will pm everybody and give them their role with explanation and avatar.

    Spoiler : Rules :

    1. Be sure to make at least 3 posts per day. If you do not, you will get a penalty vote next day phase. In case it happens again you will be hostkilled.
    2. Editing and deleting posts is forbidden. If you do so you will be hostkilled.
    3. Quoting, rewriting, making screenshots of your pms is forbidden. If you do so you will be hostkilled.
    4. Players are able to change their vote only ONCE per day.
    5. Do not discuss about the game outside of the game thread.
    6. Dead people do not talk, a pad will be provided for all the dead players so that they can talk about the game there. Do not hand the pad to any player who is still alive.
    7. All of the players are obliged to wear their new avatar for the game.

    Spoiler : Mechanics :

    1. Day phase is 24hours long, night phase is 15hours long (Later on, it will be less).
    2. Suicide not allowed.
    3. Last will allowed (the limit is 100 characters).
    4. A player with the most votes is lynched. When there is a tie, the day will be extended for another short period of time. If the result is the same then it will be 50/50.
    5. Night actions will be pm-ed to the Host before the night phase ends.
    6. The game will have 13 players.
    7. You will not be told how many mafias are in the game nor which roles have been chosen. However, you will be provided with a role list from which the roles have been chosen.

Spoiler : Special Mechanics - Theme related :

Spoiler : Rules for Gryffindor :

Gryffindor's Seeker will be randomely chosen from all the townies. Seeker, apart from his own role, is responsible for choosing one of the gifts for Griffindor once they reach 50points. Gryffindor's Seeker is allowed to discuss which gift to choose with the other players during the next Day Phase. Once decided the Seeker will send the pm to the host. Seeker is not allowed to say he/she is one. When the Seeker dies, He/She is able to pick another Seeker via pm to the Host.
    1. (Normal Goal) Lynch a mafia and score 25 points.
    2. (Normal Goal) Lynch Slytherin's Seeker and score 50 points.
    3. (The Golden Snitch) Lynch all the mafia and score 150 points - game ends.

Spoiler : Rules for Slytherin :

Slytherin's Seeker will be the Mafia Boss. He is also responsible for choosing one of the gifts once Slytherin reaches 50points. Once Slytherin reaches 50 points, they are able to discuss it during the Night Phase on their pad. When the Seeker dies, another mafia member will become one.
    1. (Normal Goal) Lynch a townie and score 15 points.*
    2. (Normal Goal) Lynch Griffindor's Seeker and score 50 points.
    3. (The Golden Snitch) Lynch all the townie and score 150 points -game ends.

With 50 points each team can choose:
    1. You may use the Imperius Curse in order to change one player's vote.
    2. You may use the Cruciatus Curse in order to find out one player's role.
    3. You may use the Killing Curse in order to kill one player.
    4. You may use the Ressurection Stone in order to revive a dead player.
    5. You may use the Philosopher's stone to give one player an immunity for the next day and night phases.

Be aware that each them can choose only one of the gives once reached 50 points.

    Spoiler : Role List :

    Spoiler : Town Roles :

    INVESTIGATING ROLES
Sane Detective(Townie): The Sane Detective 'investigates' one person per night phase i.e. ask the host through a PM about a players allegiance. The Sane Detective doesn't know about his sanity.

Insane Detective(Townie): The Insane Detective can 'investigate' one person per night phase. This Detective will always get the opposite result of the Sane Detective. The Insane Detective does not know about his insanity.

Naive Detective(Townie): The Naive Detective is not told that he is Naive. He thinks he is a normal Detective. The Naive Detective only gets Innocent results, regardless of who he investigate.

Mortician(Townie): The Mortician can investigate a dead player. He gets to know which actions were used on him. He uses his ability by sending a PM to the host at night and gets to know the actions in chronological order.

    PROTECTING ROLES

Sane Doctor(Townie): The Doctor can "save" a person per night phase i.e. He will PM the host during the night phase and can request to save a player. That player then cannot die during the night phase.

Insane Doctor(Townie): The Insane Doctor has the Doctor's ability to prevent death, but has a 50% chance of killing his target instead of protecting him. The Insane Doctor does not know about his own Insanity.

Naive Doctor(Townie): The Naive Doctor is simular to a regular Doctor, with the exception that he has no actually Power of Protection. He is told that he is a regular Doctor and doesn't know that he has no unique ability.

Bodyguard(Townie): The Bodyguard may pick a person he wants to protect each night. When this person is attacked by someone, the Bodyguard becomes the target instead.

    BLOCKING ROLES
Hider(Townie): Each night the Hider may choose another person to hide behind. If somebody tries to kill the Hider while he is hiding then the kill fails. If the person that the Hider is hiding behind is killed then both of them die. If the Hider is hiding behind the person (peron from a group) who tries to kill the Hider, then the kill succeeds.

Prostitute(Townie): The Prostitute/Role Blocker chooses one player per Night to distract. That player will be prevented from performing his Night Choice, if he has one. It doesn't matter if the chosen player is a Townie or Mafia.

Bulletproof Townie(Townie): The Bulletproof has a permanent protection from Night Kills. Any attempts to kill him at Night will fail.

Sickly Townie(Townie): The Sickly Townie might choose a player each Night to infect who then can't vote in the following Day Phase, because he gets a cold.

Healthy Townie(Townie): When the Sickly Townie targets the Healthy Townie, there will be no effect. He/She will be able to vote.

    EFFECT ADDING ROLES
Freeman(Townie): The Freeman is like a regular Townie, with the exception that if he is killed during the night or lynched during the day the next Day phase is skipped.

Bomb(Townie): If the Bomb is killed by anybody, the killer dies too. If the Bomb is lynched, then he kills the person who cast the final vote on him.

Vengeful Townie(Townie): Vengeful Townie has a one-shot kill ability he can use immediately after being lynched at day.

Jesus(Townie): Whenever he dies, he comes back to life 2 day phases after his death (for example, if he dies in night 1 he comes back in day phase 3. If he dies in day phase 2, he comes back in day phase 4). He dies as Townie. The host will announce Jesus' revival when the day phase starts.

Pirate(Townie): At a night of his choice the Pirate may choose a Townie he wants to steal the ability from. From that point in the game the robbed Townie's role changes to 'Townie' without him knowing it and the Pirate is free to use it as his own. The Pirate gets to know which ability it is. If the Pirate tries to steal the ability from a Mafia or Third Party Member, the Pirate dies.

Witch(Townie): If the Witch is lynched she may curse an other player, who then will die the second night after.

Innocent Child(Townie): A Townie, which gets confirmed by the Host on a specific date during the game.

Grave Digger(Townie):May choose an ability of a dead player which he will be able to use for the night. However, after using the ability he cannot use it anymore and has to choose a different one.

    KILLING ROLES
Paranoid Gun Owner(Townie): The Paranoid Gun Owner does not choose when to use his ability, but if he is targetted during the night then he kills whomever targetted him, regardless of aliance. But he has only one bullet in his gun.

Badass Cowboy(Townie): The Badass Cowboy can challenge anyone to a pistol duel during each Day phase, where there's a 50/50 chance of him dying or the duelist.

    TOWNIE CULT ROLES
Mason(Townie Cult): Masons are a Group of Townies that know each other to be innocent. They can communicate with each other at Night if they choose, but otherwise have no special abilities.

Recruiting Mason(Townie Cult): A Recruiting Mason is a a Mason Group Leader that usually starts all by himself and tries to recruit one player each Night. He selects one player each night to try to recruit. If he picks a Pro-Townie Role, then that player joins the Group and is able to talk with other Group Members in the Group during the Nights. The Recruiting Mason dies if he attempts to recruit a Mafia Member or a Third Party.

    Spoiler : Mafia Roles :

Mafia Boss(Mafia): The Mafia Boss shows the same result to Detectives' investigations, as Townie - Innocent. He is usually in charge of coordinating the Mafia activity at night and may act as the contact person to the host.

Mafia Detective(Mafia): The Mafia Detective has the ability to investigate one player per Night and learn the player's Role. The Mafia learns result of the investigation at the end of each night. Whenever the Mafia Detective's investigation ability is performed, he cannot be chosen to go for a kill on the same night.

Mafia Poisoner(Mafia): The Mafia Poisoner has the ability to poison someone during the night. The player will die in the next night. The Doctor can only save the victim in the night of poisoning.

Assassin(Mafia): The Assassin is a Mafia Member that may choose to kill at Daytime instead of the Night. Unlike Daytime Vigilantes he is not doing the Daykill publicly but via PM to the Host.

Strongman(Mafia): Can kill someone who usually can't get killed (player who got protection from a doc or a bulletproof townie) and can't be hindered by the Prostitute either. The only way to avoid his kill is being a Hider and hiding behind someone else. Of course the power is so strong, that it can only be used once. It's not an additional kill though and if the mafia uses the Strongman to perform the kill, he will use his power (meaning they can't choose the Strongman to perform the kill without using his power). After the Strongman used his power once, he becomes a normal mafia member.

Burden(Mafia): The Burden is like the Freeman on the Mafia Side. When the Burden is lynched or killed, the next night phase will skipped.

Mafia Escort(Mafia): Escort/Role Blocker may choose one player per Night to distract. That player will be prevented from performing his Night action, if he has one. When the role blocking action is chosen the Escort cannot execut a kill in the same night.

Mafia Pirate(Mafia) At a night of his choice the Mafia Pirate may choose a Townie he wants to steal the ability from. From that point in the game, the robbed Townie's role changes to 'Townie' without him knowing it and the Mafia Pirate is free to use it as his own. The Mafia Pirate knows the ability stolen and uses it at the proper Day or Night phase that the stolen role demands. All original clauses of the stolen ability apply. If the Mafia Pirate tries to steal the ability from a Mafia or a Third Party Member as primary role, the Mafia Pirate dies. The Mafia Pirate does not have the ability to kill at night like a normal Mafia member, only if the stolen ability allows that.

Mafia Mason(Mafia): A Mafia Mason is a Pro-Mafia that can communicate with other pro-Town Masons. The pro-Town Masons believe the Mafia Mason to be a regular pro-Town Mason.

    Spoiler : Win Conditions :

    Mafia
    - wins when all the townies are dead and at least one mafia member is still alive.
    - wins when it is 1v1 (1 townie vs 1 mafia)
    - wins when it is 2v1 (2 townies vs 1 mafia) after day phase

    Town
    - wins when all the mafia members are dead and at least one townie is still alive.

I think it has something to do with the fact that you have zero posts -- posts are measured in certain sections only (the Mafia Discussion section mostly) and it's probably triggering for you because you are posting a bunch in succession (i.e. the moderation software might think you are a spammer based on that combination). I think an higher-level admin can add some posts to your total to solve this issue for the future.

As far as I am aware, you need ten posts elsewhere on the forum to stop the moderation issue from occurring.

You can ask the moderators to add posts to your account to get around it as well, as DarknessB said.

Basically, the process is as follows:

People will review and ask you questions. You'll answer them and make additions / changes to your setup as necessary. Eventually, Orpz, who is the FM Liaison, will show up and review your setup, ask a bunch of questions of his own and you'll make any necessary tweaks, etc. Once Orpz signs off, your game will get put into the S-FM Queue, which is a list of games waiting to be played (only 2 games run at the same time, plus or minus). When your game reaches the top of the queue, Orpz will give you the green light to post sign ups, and then once you have enough people, you can typically start your game thread, PM people with role cards, etc.

Could we get an example of a setup that could be given in this game?

What are the gifts/where are the gifts (if I'm blind and cant see them) that could be given?

You are blind :3 And we can't really get an example for that's the point of this kind of game besides I already have the roles and balanace prepared. I've picked 13 roles from the role list.

It's in the S-FM Queue thread.

You will be waiting a while until it's your turn to host, given you have around three or four games in front (if I recall correctly), but nobody has forgotten about it in any sense.

    Blasphemies!

DarknessB's reply got me thinking; this game offers you an unique chance of not only dying on night 1, as you tend to do, but to get revived and killed again the day or night after. Don't waste it!

There were also revivals in S-FM Watermeloann. Firebringer and Numbertwo each achieved the incredible feat of being mislynched twice in the same game, lol.

Yeah forgot to post the order

    1. Blocking roles
    (Prostitute, Mafia Escort, etc.)
    2. Protective and Investigative roles (& more)
(Doctor, Detective, Spy, Sickly Townie, Hider, etc.)
    3. Killing and Recruiting
(Mafia Member, Mafia Boss, Third Party, Time Bomb, Insane Doctor, Maison Recruiter, Pirate's Robbing, etc.)

Also I don't know how hard it is to read, it's all in spoilers O.o I'm a perfectionist so I think things are clear but if not I will explain. Players roles are there and I can't give you the setup cuz I don't want people to know which of the roles are going to be used. Guess you don't know this kind of mafia but that's how we play it I know there are many new things and a lot of information but just give it a try

Well the scum won't be blocked then. It's like with any other role. If they are blocked they can't do anything.

Re: S-FM Harry Potter: Quidditch Edition

Setup has 34 possible roles, but the max allowed in an S-FM is generally 25. Since this is already a fairly complicated setup, I'd like you to reduce the number of possible roles. (you can group the sanities as one role, if you like)

A night phase less than 24 hours would be unfair to players who may be sleeping/working during that timespan. Please use a night phase that is at least 24 hours long.

Only one vote-change per day is quite unusual for our site's meta, especially as we have a vote-tracking system. You are free to keep the one-change mechanic, but I caution against it.

How long is day extended in the event of a tie vote?

Getting 51%+ of the votes from players does not end day, correct?

It would be helpful to color-code roles in the setup.

Does Gryffindor = town and Slytherin = mafia?

Do the theme-related special mechanics have any impact on the game?

Please provide a list of all possible feedback messages.

Does Mortician know what nights their target was targeted or simply given an order of the visits?

    Does healing leave feedback?

    Does roleblocking leave feedback?

When does the vengeful townie have to indicate who he kills?

Concern: Jesus seems to be a really OP role because Mafia can't perma-kill him.

Is there a powerless role akin to Citizen in this game, or is everyone a TPR? (is this "Townie?")

Does the Innocent Child know when they will be confirmed?

How is it determined whether the PGO will kill visitors?

Concern: Baddass Cowboy's ability can literally turn the game's outcome into chance.

Mason rolecard should mention that there can be mafia-aligned masons, rather than stating that masons all know each other to be town.

Does Mafia Boss show up as innocent to insane detectives?

Does Mafia have a factional night kill? If so, how does it work?

Setup needs an order of operations.

So mafia wins in 1v1/2v1 even if town has nightkills that could enable them to win?
