    This website used to be called CouncilofMages.com and the term Com Hunting means to try to find or hunt down the player behind the anon account. IE: My "Com" name is Elixir. The player's actual forum name.

    COM standing for council of mages was never changed to like sc2maf hunting or something. The prefix "COM" just stuck.

    I agree, it's a role I have no experience with. When we were setting up Helz and Fire suggested it as a fun neutral killing.

    I can see a place for it as confused threat regarding arsonist/toxicologist.

    Similar to Arsonist, the unique killing device renders bodyguards useless and makes harder work for detectives & lookouts.

    From a balance perspective:

    KPN-wise, this game will be moving quite fast whichever neutral killing role is chosen.

    The neutral killer isn't generally detection immune due to the higher KPN.


    Again, this setup still isn't fully hammered out.
    (e.g. I have to take out the disguiser and ventriloquist role cards and feedback as Thingyman requested we not use anons.)

    I invite anyone from this community and anyone from Shazam08's community to add to the setup so we can set a date. :-)

    Need to reword Witch/Manipulator's action.
    "Force them to visit a second target" makes it sound like they still get to visit their original target.
    Maybe something like "forcing them to visit another target of your choice".


    Also, I think Invest pairings should be rethought.

    Detective/Lookout/Manipulator/Witch//Tracker
    Witch & Manipulator screwed if checked as they can't do anything to prove themselves.

    Bodyguard/Doctor/Blackmailer/Silencer/Beguiler/Ventriloquist
    Too high of scum-town ratio in this. Players know that there won't be several doctors & bodyguards due to balancing issues, so scum of this category will have a harder time.


    I only looked at invest pairing & the roles in those 2 pairings. Might look again later.

    My main issue with really making this a badass setup is that I believe we will not be hosting it. It makes for a weird situation obligating specific themes to someone else who will host and we can not really build the setup because it would give an unfair advantage to those players who built it. This leaves building a kind of frame that the host will be able to easily make a balanced save on.
    Seeing as that its specifically cross community it may not be the best idea to throw untested mechanics into the mix and I know a lot of community's have very strong feelings about cult setups.

    Either way I will probably hit up Thingyman in the next day or so to get his thoughts on how far we can take everything before turning it over to him.
    Intellectual growth comes from discussions, not arguments. If you are unwilling to change your position and hear the other persons side you are closed minded and wasting your time.
    If you can not clearly explain what the other sides reasoning is you can not disagree with their position because you do not understand it.

    RLVG lent a hand in sanity checking the RoleCards and making the RoleCards' descriptions more than blobs of text. Thanks RLVG!

    RLVG's changes below:

    Amnesiac
    • Target a dead player at night to become their role.
    • No one are notified of the Amnesiac becoming a role.
    • Will always show under the Investigative Pairing even after becoming a new role.
    No one are notified = Town?

    Citizen / Survivor / Executioner
    • No night action.
    Crier / Insane Crier
    • Submit a message at night to be displayed anonymously to everyone the following day.
    Everyone = Town.

    Bodyguard
    • Target a player at night to guard them.
    • Guard : When target is being attacked, you will instead take the attack and also attack the offender.
    • Cannot be healed while you are performing a successful guarding.
    • May not self target.
    Wording can be fixed on Guard.

    Coroner
    • Target a dead player at night to perform an Autopsy on them.
    • Autopsy : Learn the targets role, night targets and Last Will as well the alignment and role of who killed your target.
    Detective
    • Target a player at night to see who they have visited that night.
    • Your ability bypasses immunity against this ability.
    Wording on immunity line.

    Doctor
    • Target a player at night to heal them. (+1 HP).
    • You may not target self.
    +1 HP can be changed.

    Lookout
    • Target a player at night to see all visitors of your target.
    • Your ability bypasses immunity against this ability.

    Sheriff
    • Target a player at night to learn of the targets alignment.
    • The following alignments are : Town, Mafia and Neutral.

    Veteran

    Escort / Consort

    Investigator / Consigliere
    • Target a player at night to learn of their Investigative Pairing.
    • You may not target yourself.
    Journalist / Corrupt Journalist
    • Target a player at day to interview them during the following night.

    • You may not target yourself.
    Armorsmith / Armorsmith
    • Target a player at night to give them either a real bulletproof vest or a fake bulletproof vest.
    • This ability has three charges and only the real vests consumes a charge.
    • Bulletproof Vest : When used, protects the user from all basic attacks for the night.
    • The bulletproof vest can be used together with the night action.
    • You may not target yourself and you may not target the same player consecutively.

    • Target a player at night to give them either a real single-use gun or a fake gun.

    • Target two players during the day to give them a night chat to anonymously chat together.
    • You will get one post in the night chat before the chat starts, sent in during the day.
    • You have permission to read the night chat but you may not post in it.

    Jailor / Kidnapper / Interrogator
    • Target a player at day to jail them the following night.
    • You and the target receive a night chat to anonymously chat together.
    • The target will be removed from all other night chats.
    • The target will be roleblocked regardless of immunity and they will be protected while jailed.
    • You may only once perform an execution to kill the jailed victim, this will only be possible during No Lynch days.
    • The captives are released at the start of the next day.
    • You may not jail yourself and the Kidnapper may jail his team mates.
    Wording.

    Bus Driver / Chauffeur / Charon
    • Target two players at night to swap them, those that visit one will instead target the other.
    • Should your swapping cause a killing role to kill itself, they will do an invulnerability piercing attack on self.
    • You may target yourself and the Chauffeurs may swap any member of the Mafia.
    Manipulator / Witch
    • Target a player at night to manipulate them into targeting your second target.
    • You may cause self targets and you may send the manipulated target to yourself.
    • If your self target causes a killing role to visit itself, they will do an invulnerability piercing attack on self.
    • Your manipulation gives no feedback.
    • Will be seen as visiting the player you manipulate.
    Blackmailer / Silencer
    • Target a player at night to blackmail them.
    • Blackmail : Restrict a player to do anything except voting and claiming true role / alignment.
    • You can not force a player to say a specific phrase or limit the amount of times they can post.
    • Player cannot reveal blackmail, otherwise they will suicide at night which can't be healed.
    • Blackmailer must message the host pointing out their slip if they did not follow the instructions.
    • The host has the final say in blackmailer conditions as well as if a player broke their blackmailed conditions.
    Beguiler
    • Target a player at night to hide behind them.
    • Any night actions that targets you will instead be moved over on to your target.
    • This ability has three charges.
    Framer
    • Target a player at night to frame them or to forge evidence.
    • Framing : Target appears to be Mafia and will be seen visiting the Mafia factional kill.
    • Forge evidence : Replace the Last Will or Article they submit with your own copy. (That night only)
    Wording, forge evidence.

    Godfather
    • Immune to night death, detection, and roleblocks.
    • Attempted roleblocks will notify the Godfather.
    Mafioso
    • Can act out mafia night kill.
    Tailor
    • Target a player at night to dress them.
    • Dressed : Target will show up either as any possible role or as (???) upon their death.
    • This ability has two charges and when attempting it while being roleblocked it will still consume a charge.
    • The dress is permanent until the Tailor changes it.
    Originally said they will just lose a charge when roleblocked, added a clarification that it will only lose a charge when they attempt to do the action.

    Tracker
    • Target a player at night to learn of who they have visited, or to see all the visitors of the target.
    Ventriloquist
    • Target a player at night to posses them.
    • Possession : You will be able to speak and vote for them the following day.
    • Cannot manipulate the same target two days in a row.
    • Possessed players may not talk while possessed.
    Hitman
    • Target a player at night to kill them, nothing prevents this. (Healing, bodyguards, roleblock, misdirection, busdriving and vests).
    • May only perform this ability once.
    Mass Murderer
    • Target a player to perform a spree killing at their house.
    • Spree killing : Any players visiting the target will be attacked and if the target performs no action then they too will be attacked.
    • If the Mass Murderer kills multiple players at the same time, they will take a break and cannot perform actions the following night.
    • You may self target and you're immune to night kills.
    This suggests that the Mass Murderer kills and not simply attacking. Please change this if it's incorrect.

    Serial Killer
    • Target a player at night to attack them.
    • You are immune to night kills.
    Changed "kill" to "attack".

    Arsonist
    • Target a player at night to douse them, or to ignite everyone that's currently doused.
    • Players are not informed of being doused.
    • If roleblocked, your action is prevented but the roleblocker will become doused.
    • You are immune to night kills.
    Toxicologist
    • Target a player at night to poison them.
    • The target will be informed of being poisoned and will die at the end of the following day.
    • You are immune to night kills.

    if im understanding correctly, the witch role makes you vist 2 people? if so how does that work with roles that have charges?

    do blackmails have to be approved beforhand? if not i would make sure that if an invlaid blackmail is sent that player is aware that it invaild at night

    I'm pissed that I can't post in the post game because I don't have access to any accounts so I'll post it here.

    1) how the fuck did Hevy not get Turbo lynched?
    2) how was Yayap a better town as a neutral than majority of Town? (Assuming broadside?)

    4) whoever was doctor - eternal sadness. Whoever was armor smith- D4 was your day to shine. I saw the claim, obviously scum did as well. You should have shouted it.
    5) Havoc- you played well, but you should have stuck to your guns in late game. Especially considering hitman-consort-manipulator-??? .
    6) I was playing near black out levels this entire game game for which I apologize. I faked sheriff well enough to get killed early (peeked Hevy, fake peeked Havoc D2- double fake all) which should have been the signal for turbo lynch via Power Wolf :'( Especially after echo died, I assumed (still don't know) Spark, Hevt, Hard, ??? Scum team. Neut killer Sev or Chopper.
    7) I regret not writing a current last will. Decided last wills are a crutch part way through the game. Town could have used a hand.

    Yayap was Broadside. He was Manipulator. Hevy, Spark and Cody were the other mafia (Consort, Corrupt Journalist, Hitman). I replaced SuperJack as Sev the Neutral Killer.

    Voss was Wolffe. He was the Doctor.

    Toadette was Echo (Armoursmith).

    Titus was Havoc.

    Helz was Rex.

    Also, can't you just use Fives' account to post in the post-game? You weren't technically replaced out ;p

    Meh. Still think Broadside was more helpful to town than as scum. I thought he flipped insane crier. On my last day alive I begrudgingingly lynched Fox (but reasoned he was more niño than guilty) as a means to turbo a Hevy lynch the next day.

    I'm planning a ranked Cross Community league. I think those if us who actually played enjoyed it. Give me a shout or a post if you're interested in league games 2016.

    Hardcase flipped Insane Crier. I didn't really understand the push on a confirmed Architect over a dubious Coroner claim, seeing as Architect is nowhere near the mafia's most powerful role.

    I wouldn't mind a game that I'm part of from the start, even though I'm far from an elite player. When is this CC supposed to take place? I think ika has a game planned for 50 players and is looking for a co-host. Unless that's what you're talking about.

    Ahhhh. I kept flipping their names all game. Broad-Hard... FML 0_o

    The push on Fox was extension of faking power wolf IMO considering Fox wasn't really towny. Last minute 'bargain'. I was drunk beyond belief pushing chopper I think instead of Hevy who was my main target. Havoc I attempted painting as scum recognizing town. (What/who was Havoc?) Fox should have posted more IMO. But that Doctor...

    I probably will only join +40 games by invite- from this game I've found players I mesh well with and would like to invite to games I host here in the future.

    I was thinking our next cross game can be a function of 'their' setup (depending on who 'they' are) and our site. I have a few ideas of who we could play, but it depends who from our end is actually interested in playing.

    Bear in mind- we have internal league, FM, and M-FM going on as well. It's just a matter if what you guys prefer and how you want to see this site taken forward.

    I believe we are going to have another game with these guys in near future. I wasn't in the major planning for it, but I know we are doing more cross community games with other sites in near future.

    My recommendations going forward:
    1) The site hosting should make the setup or at least co host to help the person hosting.
    2) Host should make the setup themselves, I understood the setup and changed it a bit to help myself out but there were still vagueness in the setup not completely clarified within I overlooked through my first few look through.
    3) Each site should have a few players already set up as replacements in case of like this game 6 or more players replace out.

    I wouldn't mind hosting another one of these in future, but I personally would like to develop the setup over reusing this one. Not that it was a bad setup.
