PlatoR's Original Lateral Thinking Puzzle #1

    Who painted this, asked Rebecca.

    Not Picasso, replied Saul.

Yeah, smirks Justin as he high fives uncle Saul.

Puzzle: Who painted the painting and what is this painting anyways? What's the relevance of this puzzle?

Justin painted the painting, and hes a bad painter "Not Picasso"
Rebecca ( or someone close to her) is in the painting.
either that or the "painting" is just a horrible, ugly splosh

I will give you points for making me laugh. It's actually not a bad answer. Not the one I had in mind though.

Actually, I will be very surprised if anyone here knows the answers to this puzzle (not that it is particularly difficult), but I will want to be friends with whomever answers them correctly. (I already consider myself friend to the whole world, so let's say extra special friend, just below my imaginary best friend.)

Is the object of the conversation an actual painting? (brush on canvas, framed, etc.)

Are any of the people in the riddle famous?

There were no people in the painting, so no to all these questions.

Short though the conversation was, it was indeed about the painting.

The people were not famous, I believe, at that point in time.

I think this is what happened: Justin painted a painting about how Rebecka's (Insert either of the following: organization,house,school,attitude...etc) is so and so
Saul then said Picasso didn't paint it, suggesting the painting is extreme (horribly painted, creative painted etc) in some way.
Justin had something to do with the creation of the picture as he was smirking
either Justin or Saul painted it as Justin high-fived Saul.
Rebecka said who painted this as the painting either:A)was a hate painting, insulting to her, badly painted(very)
    B) was very well painted I.E creative, beautiful...
    C) unusual in some way, or she is just VERY curious

    REBECCA BLACK IS TEACHER
SAUL AND JUSTIN MADE BUNCH OF GRAFFITI
THEY THOUGHT IT WAS ABSTRACT ART
AND THEREFORE IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN PICASSO BECAUSE HE WASN'T A POSTMODERN BRO

So this event took place at a specific point in time, interesting.

Is this a non-fictional scenario? If so, has this event taken place within our lifetime? (lets say within the last 20 or 30 years)

If it is instead fictional, does it take place in a school setting?

I'm surprised no one has asked the 4 obvious questions.

    Did Rebecca paint the painting?
    Picasso paint the painting?
    Saul paint the painting?
    Justin paint the painting?

    :P

No to all four questions. So that partly answers the above posts too.

    Is the painting abstract?
Is the painting a replication of an item?
Is the painting a real scenic location?
Is the painting a fictionally created location?
    Was the painting made recently?
Was the painting worth enough that you would want it insured?
Was the painting spark an emotional reaction to any of the said people who saw the painting?

    ...

    Did Plato paint the painting?

Re: PlatoR's Original Lateral Thinking Puzzle #1

Plato has nothing to do with the painting.

The painting is of a fictionally created location.

The painting is not worth much, I think.

Not much emotional spark. I think at that moment in time, none of them has any idea of who painted the painting.

    OOO.
    ok then.
Rebbecca asked because she is very curious,or she is in some way related to it.
Picasso didn't paint it because it was obviously to good .
Justin smirked because he was there.
not going to use spelling check.

In the opinion of a highly educated liberal arts major with Parisian tastes (mite b u), was it a "good" painting?

    Yes. No.
This painting is painted by a person.

Maybe you guys could try give this puzzle to your friends/family and you might be surprised that they know what this painting is all about.

Rebecca is not related to Justin. But there was a time before the painting conversation, when Rebecca and Justin thought they were half-siblings.

At the time of the painting conversation, none of Justin, Saul, and Rebecca were married.

Well, after your clue about the half-sister thing, I decided to pop their names into google and some show called Brothers and Sisters came up. After wikipediaing it there was something about Justin Walker thinking that Rebecca Harper was his half-sister. So I guess I'd better just confirm:

    1) Is this puzzle based on the show Brothers and Sisters?

    2) Is this puzzle actually a scene from that show?

Is the fictional place a place Rebecca, Justin, and/or Saul made up?
Is the fictional place a place in the Bible?
Is the fictional place a place from a movie? Book? Story?
Am I completely off topic right now?
