Well im British but if you are a patriot to America then you would join the navy to serve your country even without benefits since you still get money and s job
Plus your a selfisj asshole if you just want to join for the benefits
And why the navy, the army is better overall
Plus this is the reason us brits are better at minded and better overall as a country
Well, I was making a point, and besides, my family needs the money. Think about what problems the forum creator might be struggling with before you reply.
U still get money for being in the navy
Plus what even were the benefits of the so called USA armed forces
They used to be:
Retirement aid
Health + Life insurance
College Tuition to most schools
you*
Do you have any links to share? Couldn't find any.
How many years is a typical Military grunt? 11-15 years if what I read is accurate. If one joins when they are 25 and works for 15 years, then should you really be retiring at 40 and not getting a job? Pretty lame if they are cutting the tuition, health care, ect. Do you and your family not get this even if you're an active member of the military?
Joining the military is about serving and protecting your country, not to sell yourself as a hired gun. You're joining for the wrong reasons if it's just for benefits.
Why don't you just get a real job.
i<3cryptonic
Well, I currently work as an intern (part time, of course)
Well get a fool time position and make a name for yourself instead of getting used by a lousy govt
i<3cryptonic
No it's not that, I do want to serve and protect my country, but some veterans need those benefits.
Wjy the heck would you want to be a servant
i<3cryptonic
OK, OK, I walked into that one. I am VERY sorry if I angered anyone, I was just speaking my opinion.
While I think people who join the military for the benefits are not good people, I definitely don't think the benefits should be cut.
I know I would be outraged if my benefits were cut lol.
Lol btw, you voted that you agree w/ Obama taking away benefits.
Example from my life: My grandfather, Who served in Vietnam, is on life support and depends on the Health insurance. By cutting that benefit, Obama just pulled the plug on my grandfather.
Is this real or just something else they're saying on Fox News these days?
And while my father is in the military and I highly respect him for being willing to sacrifice his life for his patriotic convictions, I'll never submit myself to be a corrupt governments puppet.
Joining just got benefits is terrible, and you should feel terrible for it.
That said I don't think cutting benefits is good in principle, but I've not yet seen a link
Well, you join the Military, you might get shot.
But then again, going to school in America has more chance of you getting shot.
I personally don't believe we should stigmatize people who join just for the benefits.
I'll use an example from a problem in the US today.
Society is okay with people getting rich off of stuff like porn or nuclear weapons, but when a person aims to become rich off of charitable giving, he is seen as a parasite.
Consider the average salary of a Stanford MBA (400k) versus the average salary of a Nonprofit Organization CEO (200k). Whereas the MBA can donate, say, 100k a year, become hailed as a brilliant philanthropist, and still have more money leftover than the CEO. The CEO is thought of negatively for profiting off of what's supposed to be charity.
Charitable giving in the US has remained frozen at 2% of the GDP. This freezing is due to the fact that the nonprofit sector can't attract human capital as well as the forprofit sector due to a lower salary brought about by societal norms.
The less fortunate people in our societies would appreciate help, and even if people are donating for "the wrong reasons", the money still goes to a noble cause.
While joining the military is different from charitable giving, there is a certain parallel to be drawn here.

If your family needs money do not join the military. You can make 3 times as much working a fast food gig. The benefits are not really all that great. College is nice but the healthcare is not very good at all. The real benefit is the way that kind of training will change you.
And if you do join up do not trust your recruiter. They will lie to you all over the place. Anything they tell you make them show you in writing. And be very specific about the job you want. Do not sign as an open role.
Intellectual growth comes from discussions, not arguments. If you are unwilling to change your position and hear the other persons side you are closed minded and wasting your time.
If you can not clearly explain what the other sides reasoning is you can not disagree with their position because you do not understand it.
I love oops

Um yeah, fast food is not preferable to anything.
The military doesn't exactly give you the best income, plus the dedication and hell you go through and put up with. I only joined in the army because I didn't know what to do after high school and kinda didn't use my benefits(now no longer qualify for them). At least people are getting something out of the years they slaved away for the crap this country pushes around.
After 8 years, thank god I left. It's an option that I don't really recommend for anyone unless you were to make use of the befits.
edit(browsing through your military times post) https://www.militarytimes.com/story/v...port/25950233/
My dad spent several years in fast food, rising to a GM of Fridays when he was in his late 20's.
He told me this.
Everyone should be forced to spend two years in prison, in fast food, or in the military. It teaches respect and hard work.
hey why does america not have free healthcare or collage like we do in britain
is it because america is power and money hungry and greedy as hell.....thought so
Any job where you work as a team builds respect. If you're disrespectful, you won't get along with your team.
A hard work all depends on how much you like your company. If they treat you like shit, chances are you're not going to put a lot of effort into your job.

get your bets in how old is apo closest one gets some sex in a bottle
i guess 26.5
I remember being broke as hell my entire time in service. The only time I ever had money was after a deployment. Sure everything's "kinda" covered but you still have to pay a hundred or so a month just to keep your uniform/gear right. Then if you want to have a car so you are not just stuck on base doing nothing all the time thats like half your income. Throw in a bit of living expense like clothes and some food (Because the chow hall food gets old really fast) and you don't have much left. It literally pays to get married. Double the income. Just do a contract marriage with an illegal immigrant. They get citizenship and you get money.
If you consider it on a pay scale an E1 right now would get 1532 a month. Thats 383 a week. If you are very lucky and get some super POG job you will only have to work 14 hour days 5 days a week with weekends off. That comes to $5.47 an hour with no overtime at best. This is really not a job you should go into for the money. These numbers are pretty generous. You could add in 2 field training ops a month and that number would drop to like 3$ an hour.

I just seen this now, and this kind of shit.... Pisses me the **** off ..... I can't even begin to describe ..... why the fuck would you not say the military isn't a real job? When you join the military you get an education (for starters) , and lots of other stuff........ But I will explain it simple for miss Bunny here.... EXAMPLE: You join the air force, get an education on how to work on airplanes= job
Get it? Pretty fked up of you bunny to say it's not real.
people once said that Firebringer played legit for example
Brainwashed
what? I understand perfectly. The military defends the country ... How could you not understand this is the question. And you also gain valuable skills along the way. sure it's hard, but doesn't mean it's not a real job, or not worth it. you are defending your country.

Psyduck is a bit too aggro. But only about 8% of military jobs are oriented around sitting and waiting to be thrown into combat. The rest end up with some form of technical skill most of the time. Cooks, mechanics, computers etc.
I only do agree that it's a 'real job' in that I've come to consider most jobs effectively pointless. Either the job isn't a real necessity or it gets shat on by the public.
