So there is 2-4 times as much spam as user activity. Obviously our user check for registration is broken. Can we do something about this?

Posting here so anyone can give suggestions/ support

But it is a Wikia wiki, you can't do much to fix it, just edit the pages.

I'm talking about the forum. There's tons of simple fixes like changing the user groups or creating a unique registration question that will put an end to the bots.

The spam doesn't even hardly matter if its not overwhelming the bandwidth and stopping normal discussion.

For the most part we've seemed to have solved the problem thanks to Cryptonic I think.
I still prune a spam thread like twice a week when I see one though.

Nah, not thanks to me. Email registration was turned back on before I got admin lol.
The ones getting through now are all from yahoo, I almost want to ban yahoo emails lol

Not 100% sure, but think it's because it was bugged and admin had to manually approve a lot of accounts
