there should be a town Attorney

at night he can target someone to represent in the day.

no one will know he is representing the defendant until the defendant is put on trial.

once the defendant is voted up, the attorney will be offered an option to represent the defendant. if yes he will be put on trial and will defend for him.

he will gain access to the defendants last will and everyone he visited (sorta like coroner) and he can use that information

if voted guilty, the attorney and the defendant dies.

there could prob be a mafia attorney too. and also if u wanna get in depth with it the attorney could alternatively play the prosecutor.

this needs to be cleaned up but I'm throwing it out there.

    thoughts??

Intellectual growth comes from discussions, not arguments. If you are unwilling to change your position and hear the other persons side you are closed minded and wasting your time.
If you can not clearly explain what the other sides reasoning is you can not disagree with their position because you do not understand it.

What if a defendant doesnt want to be defended? The defendant have an awesome defense but a noob attorney come up and spam Hodor. He get lynched because of that.

What if the town want the guy lynched but doesnt want the attorney to be lynched so they innoed a confirmed scum to save a town live?

What if you vote up someone, an attorney defended him, the town inno the guy and vote him up again?

Really? You think that makes it OP? Firstly, the Attorney only gains access to the information if the target player is put on trial. While the ability to see the entire list that target player visited is like a super-powered Detective track, it would be somewhat situational in its use as it would only activate if the target is put on trial, which is rather unlikely. Secondly, the Attorney would also die if his target is lynched that day, meaning the lynch would most likely need to be delayed.

Main issues are that it only works in trial settings and that the role is an auto-confirmable, which is a very big thing seeing how it is also an investigative role. Would probably need a neutral equivalent to balance out the auto-confirm issue.

Well as long as the person on trial is given the ability to 'allow' themselves to be represented...like the attorney attempts to represent, a dialog box should appear for the person on trial say Yes/No.

As for win conditions....it must be separate from the rest of town for the instance of what using the ability.... The Attorney, while representing, can learn that the person is actually scum....then is it fair? the attorney, if it wins with town no matter what, will try to get him to get lynch(and kill himself). Actually not sure, it might be fair because the person getting lynch did 'allow' themselves to be represented....

    hrmmmm...

But for sure this could be OP for saving a townie, because it would be 1 person verifying all the data needed to confirm a true town for the rest of them game....I could see players TRYING to be put on trial to prove they are town.

If a person denies(if there is an option) an attorney...they would certainly look like scum as well......this is a very OP role with it's abilities.

To make this role no longer OP, it's win condition must be: Not to allow the trial represented player to be lynched during that session

Otherwise the attorney would turn against who they are trying to protect, without worrying about dieing themselves because they normally win with town.
HOWEVER, even with this, the next day the attorney should be able to announce the scum and lynch without a lose of win condition cuz he no longer would be representing them....but of course a whole day passes with the scum still alive(in that time the attorney could have got into an 'accident')

    ...so... How does that sound?

So idk much but first question: as ppl said I guess defendant could choose if he wants to be represented but apocist posted an awesome win condition where attorney can't let defendant be sentenced.

Second question - town won't know that the attorney is representing the player. It could be the same as a disguiser. The attorney will be talking as the defendant? Idk

Third - double jeopardy? xD idk
