    Blackmailling the crier

    Hi there !

I just played a game, and had an idea. In this game, I was GF and my blackmailler always blackmailled the same guy, who was in fact crier.
The suggestion here is : what if the blackmailling also worked at night ? It would make the crier incapable to shout during the night, and may look like a disguiser took his place.
For instance, blackmailling the crier Night #3 will prevent him to talk Day #4 and Night #4

According to me, the blackmailler isn't so usefull. Have the abilty to prevent the crier to talk at night may help, mainly when the crier is helpfull to the town because he says interesting things at night.

We can push the thing, and prevent the jailor to speak, and every role that are able to speak at night, but it was for the crier from the begening.

Sorry for my english that may not be perfect, hope you'll like the suggestion. I can upload the replay of the game if you want to watch it

Looking forward for your questions or messages

    Regards

I would like it for crier, as for other roles not so much. jailor needs to be able to interrogate if he jails and is bmed it would make reports a lot harder to do becasue he couldnt properly intterigate.

also what if bmer got witched or bussed onto self or another mafia?

over my though is it should only apply for crier if we do something like this

    Re: Blackmailling the crier

Hi and thanks for the answer !

The suggestion was for crier at the begening, so if you guys love the suggestion only for the crier, it works
But it could be great for others roles : you say that the jailor wouldnt be able to properly do his job : isn't it the goal of the maf to avoid city to properly work ? According to me, BM is currently not very usefull, because when someone is BMed, it's obvious by day. This would give the BM role a bigger impact on the game

If I understand your question, you ask what happens if BM blackmails himself ? as for other roles : he wouldn't be able to speak the tomorrow morning, and the next night with other mafs fellows. I just realized that it would also impact Cult & Manson

So it would give the BM a better role, that can be used with less random : blackmailing a jailor or a crier would be more interesting than blackmailing a jester. The BM would now have to pick the good victim : so far, in my opinion, blackmailing a jailor or the mayor has the same impact, they can't speak at day, and they just have to spam the trial in order to make people undertand they are blackmailed. So the BM doesn't really mind who he's blackmailling, beacause it will have the same effect regardless of who was blackmailed

Once again sorry for my english, it's 4AM here I hope you understand everything I write

No its fine. i'm just saying to do it to jailor or a night talking role essensaly makes them useless. they arent talking to everyone. i do agree bmer is kinda on the nerfy type side becasue anyone can just do the mass vote thing. but it also avaiable for jester to fake a blakcmail.

when bm mayor/marshal it doesnt allow them to reveal so its benifical in that area but i think the bming of any role into nighttime is semi bad.

jailor jails bmed person they cant claim role. if mayor gets jailed and is bmed at the night time frame jailor might exe him and then ppl will be claiming greif at it.

Bm is pretty strong already. Add the option to silence criers and its k.

Framer might need some love though. Make him able to frame teammates as town as an option.

I disagree : BM isn't strong. When someone is BMed, he just has to vote everyone, and people know he can't talk. That also mean that they probably won't trial this person because they know he won't be able to defend himself. In my opinion, BM is quite useless for the moment. The best thing he can do is to BM an invest role that has already revealed, but they guy can still vote in order to show the town he has a clue against someone

For the Framer, I don't know. He can be hard to find if the setting make his detection off. I think that frame a maf into town would be too OP. But besides that, I agree that we might upgrade his role : either by switching the detection always off, either finding a new thing he can do

He can block mayor and the marshall for all time. I think that is pretty powerful. Shutting sheriffs down from revealing their information at day is powerful.
Ever tried to fake blackmail as jester? Works out quite decently.

There are some voices which suggest that a blackmailer should be able to silence a jailed target...

Well, does the Blackmailler prevent a Marshall/Mayor from revealing if they are blackmailed ?

In my suggestion, BM action is extended to the next night. If the blackmailed guy gets jailed, he wouldn't be able to talk to the jailor. And this would give the BM a better and funnier role

Yes he does. Lol. Why do you call him too weak if you don't even know what he can do and what he can't.

Because I never saw a blackmailed mayor or marshall. But it's quite random if not used with a consig clue.
Most of the time; BM just pick someone randomly, and changes the next day, so the mayor can't reveal for one day. Still doesn't seems so helpfull to me.
It means BM needs a Consi to be efficient.

    Re: Blackmailling the crier

Yeah and? A framer needs investigative town roles alive to be efficient. Unlike the Beguiler. Can't be fixed with a consigliere.

Blackmailer don't need other roles to work. They are pretty solid in what they do. They shut people up.

Shutting them up, apart from the voting system...

Honestly, I don't blackmail when I'm blackmailer. It generally confirms my role and doesn't do much damage.

Perhaps the vote rate of the blackmailed person can be decreased? Perhaps after 1 vote it counts as spam and the cool-down starts?

Or the night blackmailing should be added.
