Right now, playmaf competes with SC2mafia on the front of the SC2 community, and mafiascum on the front of the mafia-playing community as a whole. The SC2mafia community has a massive advantage in that it is the forefront of the SC2mafia map, where literally all new members come from. In effect, the only people who will ever hear of playmaf will be those who have come from SC2mafia, and, given SC2mafia's much larger userbase, you can see where they will stay. The only time I can imagine someone will migrate to playmaf is if the player isn't good enough to be accepted into an FM. In other words, the worst players. Have fun with that.

Now, playmaf claims that they are entirely unaffiliated with SC2mafia (which is a complete lie, by the way, considering that Claw was demoted on playmaf for his gamethrowing), and that they are gunning for being a community formed entirely around forum mafia. You know, exactly like the massive and already established site, mafiascum, that already has around 12000 users and like 500 active games right now. Not only is mafiascum far more active and developed than playmaf, the games there are also of much higher quality. In fact, the games that we play on SC2mafia and will no doubt be played on playmaf are downright amateurish and childish compared to the ones on mafiascum. The only reason anyone ever plays FM on SC2mafia is because the community is already established from the SC2 map, and is looking for something to do. And therein lies the major problem of playmaf: they are trying to build a community out of absolutely nothing, in a niche that is already well filled, and yet is exactly the same if not inferior to the sites it tries to compete against.

I advise you stop wasting money on the webserver and domain, as the site will flop on its face within a few months. You just cannot compete.
Then we'll play in the shade.

There was no code in this last game between me and Claw. During the game we were accused of plotting to overthrow it in the day chat but that was simply not the truth. Cap knows I wasn't trying to destroy his game and specifically said after the fact that he didn't blame me for what transpired.

But hey, say whatever you want and then admit you don't know the facts. That's cool.

Just make a reply saying why you should get it.
Go to documents, then Diablo III, then D3Pref or whatever it's called. Where it says disabletrilinearlining or something like that, change the "0" to a "1". Then change hardwareclass from a "0" to a "1".

When you press play on the beta and it tries to make you click OK, press escape instead. The beta will load and you will be able to play it.

Now that I've told you how to make the beta work, I think you should give me your key.

    Oh wait, shit.

I can't do reply quote but here's an excerpt from the night you died:

[1:59:35 AM] JackofSpades: This just in, I am a badass.
[3:03:37 AM] JackofSpades: You clearly underestimate my persuasive skills

Delusions of grandeur I think should be swiftly stopped.

Execute him. (Elixir Jail Chat N2 Post #7)

Jack is too arrogant, so don't let him bluff you. Execute him and be on your way. It will be doing everyone a favor.
(Fred Jail Chat N2 Post #6)

I guess you could argue that that was just your personality for "that one game" and that's why you died. But I think we both know that's not true. Or maybe we don't. I could also find posts if I wanted to from the other chats talking about other people, like Philie deciding to kill Yayap despite him saying in the game that he was openly siding with Lucifer. Or Eternity freaking out about Claw's actions, or everyone in general letting False take over the day 2 chat with his pretending to know who the devil was based purely on his reputation.

In fact I'll have to double back and check over the threads again, but didn't you reveal yourself as Jack because of how disappointed you were over not being listened to? That's my vague recollection of events anyway. And before you link more fallacies, I'm saying that your experiment should have shown that at the end of the day people are more likely to follow vets than come out and make a name for themselves. It sucks, but it's the truth. I remember Ambient saying that he killed people like me and Ubernox specifically because we were new and he knew that we wouldn't be the subject of any PR protection. That's still a layer of metagame whether you like it or not.

I still love you, even if I think your conclusion is wrong. Fallacy that.

It's not personally attacking you when there's contradictions in your own behaviors. You can't expect everyone else to be comfortable with a non-anon game when you yourself weren't. In fact I think what happened that game is proof of the flaw in your argument.

Once you revealed as Jack you were jailed and killed without even being talked to. You really don't think that kind of shit will happen again this time? I understand that you're going to post something later detailing your full plans for what constitutes metagame knowledge and how you'll penalize people for using it, but I just don't see, at this moment, how you'll prevent shit like that from happening. If a jailor opts to kill Yayap N1 without talking to him, are you just going to be like "write an essay on your decision or it doesn't happen"?

It's interesting, but I don't think you get how the order of operations works. This would be at the TOP because it's before they actually do their action. If it was at the bottom like you suggest then nothing would happen since the abilities would already have triggered.

I like how you don't include an option for "none of the above" in your poll.

What's the point of a private forum if all it's for is to save stuff you have written down? You're on a computer dude, it already does that.

Other than that, Nick's right: user forums are just groups. And you can check someone's profile by going ... to their profile.

We had the constitution test in the green world and that scared him that if he tried it in the red world he'd break it and lose both his wife and his son.

We're being told what world people are in by filter, their clothes, and things in the setting. His dinner plates and things were all green with Rex and red with his wife.

This leads me to believe that we don't know which world the captain is in at the end. She's wearing a green shirt and surrounded by green trees and grass, but because it's at a sunset it has the same filter effect that the red world has. That's what I didn't like about it. I don't want this scientific "Assassin's Creed" type thing going on. I've never played Assassin's Creed before so I don't know exactly what's going on, but I know he's not really an assassin he's in a computer generated world.

If he has this ability to transfer between two different realities then it'll be more interesting than in the next season that whole thing is gone because it was just an experiment type thing.
Well, I don't know if you've ever seen the movie Stay, but it could be something similar to that in this show. (Spoilers for that movie ahead):

In that movie, Henry creates this entire fictionalized reality with the people surrounding his car crash, and they're able to interact with each other despite whether or not he's present for it. I know the idea that Britten's dead is an easy conclusion and probably cliche at this point, but given how great a job the writers have done at this point I wouldn't mind if that's where the story ended up.

The constitution test is interesting though, because we never actually see the paper he's reading from. If the green world is fake, it could very well be just that one passage he "read" copied and pasted over and over again on that printout. If that was the only part he knew, then that's why that's the only part he could read aloud. It's not like he reads a lot of it before he stops.

And I'm pretty sure that it was still the red world the Captain was in because, despite the presence of green, she asked the guy if the assassin was "little". She would have no knowledge of Britten obsessing over a little person in the green world because it led to him actually solving a case there, but she did note the obsession in the red world because it was distracting him from his other cases.

I am curious to see the next episode though and whether or not Britten taking pills allows him to still transfer between the worlds, I always want to know if he needs to specifically sleep in the house to transfer, or if he's able to do it anywhere (and if he'll end up at that corresponding "point" in the other world or just wherever he was last asleep).

Quote Originally Posted by Clawtrocity View Post

So Awake has been getting publicity for being interesting, new, different, and intense. This episode was pretty solid, but not as good as the pilot. I enjoyed that they keep using the main plot focus of him being in two different realities helping each other out. The fabric softner and the motorcycle were both awesome. What surprised me the most is that I thought this show would be what it's about now and it's already slipping away from that by adding this conspiracy element to it at the end. I can't say it's going to work or not work because I haven't seen it yet, but I felt as though it was unnecessary. The way his realities are trying to tie things together with the "little guy" and the "611" (Two times in pilot and the tall guy was 6'11") we're slowly starting to understand with Michael what happened that night.

The best part of the entire show is the way it's filmed though. With the different filters and tones for each reality. In this episode they took it a step further to add in red and green items everywhere and they change depending on which reality he's in. This seems to be a directors choice, but it's been somewhat consistent so far. Jason Issacs is amazing so far too. He's exactly the kind of guy you want in a show like this. Just like Tim Roth was 100% perfect for Lie to Me Lucius Malfoy is great for playing this character.

According to people who have seen the first 4 episodes through promotional releases the next two are supposedly better than even the pilot. It was hinted that Michael tries to take a bunch of pills to knock himself out to go and save his son. These are the types of things that will make this show extremely likable. I can only hope NBC doesn't have anything lined up for this spot because Awake is something that needs time to grow and people to talk about it.
I actually enjoyed the conspiracy appearing in the red world because it adds to the mystery of which one's real. In the pilot it seemed like, due to various circumstances, that the red one was "real" while the green one was his imagination. Now, though, it would make sense that if the red one was his imagination he'd make up a conspiracy theory to try and justify his accident. I mean, we still have yet to see the Captain in his green world, and if I remember correctly the green psychologist never accused him of being drunk before the accident the way the red therapist did.

The thing I'm most curious about now is the fact that we saw in both worlds his mom and son interacting with other people without him. That kind of threw a lot of my theories out the window, unless we're going to be told later that he really has constructed whole worlds that operate regardless of his presence.

Also, because I tried and couldn't really tell in the pilot, did anyone notice if his hand was cut in the green world? The "rules" haven't really been elaborated on too much yet, so I'm still unclear if damage from one world carries over into the next or only when he's "active" in that world.

As of right now there's "inb4 someone cheats" "deathfire is gay" and "thewaaagh is stupid". Either DramaLlama is lying to cause confusion for the town since he's dead anyway OR he really is an acolyte and a gamethrowing faggot that ruined today for the town despite not being converted. If it's the latter, I'll sleep fine at night because you can only do so much in this game if you assume town will act rationally. I can't be expected to take into account the actions of gamethrowers that confirm the actions of others while also not acting pro-town in any sense of the word.

If Drama does flip valet it won't surprise me to find Escaho as the Banshee. If he's an acolyte he can go fuck himself. If he's a jester, then good fucking job.

He still needs two votes to be hammered and the day will continue even after he has been hammered. But it seems like we've gotten the most we're going to get out of today as it is.

Just to be clear, if Drama does flip town, Socretin should look into McPwnage tonight. If Drama flips valet, I'd suggest looking into one of the following people Socretin:

    -Escaho
    -Mopin
    -Jimbobicus

Death Knight should kill Goremancer. Azeryuu should submit Faith as his answer (religion should count as a synonym for the purpose of getting the key). Azeryuu should give a ward to either Guardian or Socretin (Do not tell us which one).

I think that covers all of the necessary night actions.

You're disappointing me Nick. He has a list of notes on people but doesn't think anyone could be the valet or Banshee besides me and Socretin. I've posted notes on everyone before in games where I was the mafia so it proves nothing. Letting him live tonight will give us less information than if we lynch him.

Also, keep in mind that if Drama is telling the truth and he is town, he will still win with us at the end of the game. It's why I'm so confused as to his voting patterns. If he thought I was the Banshee I'd think he wouldn't want to waste a lynch on me since I'd still be alive tomorrow. Conversely, you'd think he'd rather pressure one of the other two claims since that's likely where this mysterious valet would be hiding. But no, he tries to vote me the Banshee.

I mean couldn't you have at least given anti conversion forces their own role? and you could only convert citizens which made up 7/17 non mafia roles vs the 14/17 non mafia roles that can be converted in this game. The lower kpn also leads to more confusion as the haunting are always going to make up their numbers through conversion and we can't narrow down who is converted.

Oh not to mention immune to everything until at least night 3 if not longer that is if we even find the banshee because they could very well be . And roleblock immune, if he wasn't you could at least argue that barding stops conversion but no it doesn't. The setup should have a deticated smiting role and a deticated anti conversion role.
I wouldn't worry about that too much. As it stands there's no witness that makes them nut at night and we have an invulnerable vigilante on our side. The only problem I have with this setup right now is the Silver Riddle. It's way too vague with a million plausible answers that can fit. Hopefully one of the answers we talked about today is right, or Bork will do something late game to help out town if it becomes clear we can't get it.

Then again, if Drama is the valet today Haunting gonna be so fucked lol.

In regards to Nick, I don't know 100% that Drama is the valet so role-claiming today isn't as useful. Tomorrow it'll probably happen though. Besides, we've got plenty of ward targets for tonight as it is.

Be prepared for everything. The fact that it seems so dumb it couldn't happen is exactly why it'd work in this setup. Drama himself said how useless the valet is once he finds the Death Knight, and the Haunting replenishes any lost members as the game progresses. Not a bad trade to legitimize the Banshee.

But let's see what happens when Drama flips whatever he flips.

And again, any plan that takes the Paladin away from protecting people like Socretin and the armorsmith Guardian tonight is bad.

I also do not like relying on the assumption that the three people will not get witched, converted, or killed. If that happens, it sets the town back a day.
That's something I'm not above considering. It would explain why McPwnage and Drama were like "Aha! This is how we get them to lynch Socretin". And even if one gets lynched the other just goes "Well, guess I'm the other sheriff and there was only two after all!"

Why are you putting words into my mouth which I never said?
Where does it say I think the haunting already know who the death knight is? I said the only reason they would NEED a shadow IS to find the dk.

Ignoring what? I looked over the post you made (posted in the same minute I initially posted my plan) and don't see anything regarding ignoring anything. So I can't figure out wtf you are mentioning.

No you gave a situation where haunting recruits one of the 3.
I gave situations where haunting recruits, haunting doesn't recruit, Banshee is one of the three, all three are shadow hunters.

Your ignorance to reading anything clearly and posting your garbage to escelate the conflict and get a lynch train going leads me to believe you are some role that has no worries about dying.
What role is that? The banshee.

I call you out right now, what are you?
You can't be town because town wouldn't be stirring up the pot on something that seems logical.
Show me a situation where town loses with the proposed chain checking?
    You said the following:

    Person A accuses Person B
    Person B accuses Person C
    Person C clears Person A
    Therefore Person B is lying.

That is not true if the following has happened:

Person A is the valet and fake accuses Person B
Person B checks the converted that night Person C
Person C is converted and fake clears person A

In this situation both A and C have cleared themselves while actually being haunting.

You are ignoring the benefits of converting shadow hunters when you try to act like the Haunting would never ever in a million years do that no sir.

You can call me out all you want but you can go screw, there's been enough role-claims today. I need to talk to my mafia buddies at night to figure out my cover. You see I really am the Banshee, and I'm forcing everyone to lynch you because I think you are the most dangerous person here and I would rather see you die than recruit you.

Is that what you want to hear? Because it's pretty laughable. And while I can't do anything to convince any of you, please believe me when I say that if I was the cult leader I would never recruit Goremancer. I'd like to have people that aren't borderline retarded that admit they were converted to the town.

I ask you.. Why would they do that?
If I was haunting I would recruit someone guaranteed that hasn't been the center of attention. Those lurkers are likely town PRs.
The only reason the haunting would need a shadow at this point is to find the dk so they can witch him to do 2 KPN on whoever they want.
Either way it would be fairly stupid to recruit a shadow hunter tonight because we can lynch one, smite the other, and get the DK to kill the last essentially killing the valet, one shadow, and one shadow hunter. They waste a conversion and their valet for one shadow hunter.

The only reason we shouldn't do the chain is if one of us 3 is infact the banshee.

What can happen if one of us is banshee? Well the real shadow hunters would get no corruption feed backs. The banshee would either lie and and claim their target was haunting or say no corruption.

In scenario 1: We have one person accused. We lynch that person, he is either valet, or shadow hunter. If he flips shadow hunter we know the accuser is the banshee. Then we roleblock that bitch until the crypt is open. If that person is valet well, he is valet!

Scenario 2: No one is accused. All three people claim no corruption on their target. What then?
Well either we have 3 shadow hunters, someone is false claiming as neutral/town PR/acolyte, or we have a banshee hiding amongst them.
No real way to detect said banshee but at least we still have 2 shadow hunters alive.
You are assuming that they've already found the death knight with their valet, why are you so sure of that? And you are also ignoring the fact that converting shadow hunters is how you cause mislynches while your numbers grow. And when I say ignoring I don't meant that you haven't thought about it, I mean you're ignoring it to make your case seem stronger than it actually is.

In regards to McPwnage, I already confirmed the existence of the bard since I was role-blocked night one. That's why I find the three shadow hunter story unlikely. If it turns out to be true though, I've already included a list of the people I doubt are acolytes/the bard. But I guess we'll see in the coming days.

And Drama, did you even read what I wrote? I already gave you a situation in which person B would not be the liar. Therefore your point is invalid and you can enjoy a noose if others agree with me.

DramLlama checks Socretin checks McPwnage checks Drama

Lets say Drama is the valet, he recruits McPwnage:

Drama say Socretin came back haunting, McPwnage says Drama came back clear, Socretin says McPwnage came back Haunting.

It comes down to Socretin vs McPwnage, we lynch one and then smite the other. Drama the valet lives. Unless we're lucky on which of the two we lynch, we've lost all of our sheriffs.

This situation is true regardless of which one of you is the valet and which one of the other two gets converted. Not to mention that the Armorsmith needs a wifom ward tonight too, so we can't possibly ward all three of you (2 sheriffs and 1 armorsmith).

Let's suppose one of you is the Banshee, and is getting the night results from the valet in their first post of the day. One of you could be pretending to be a sheriff and will come back innocent tonight. So being checked does nothing.

Not lynching one of you and relying on the shadow hunter checks + a smiting will waste the paladin's check, and the sheriff checks while putting all of you at risk of conversions. And it also gives the living valet a longer time to gather information.

If you say you are going to smite Drama the haunting might look at our plan and convert socretin instead. Also I wouldn't propose this if I was haunting given it puts me in danger too.

Waaagh you aren't off the hook for being the banshee because you continue to try and mislead the town.
You can call me the Banshee all you want, but I'm not the one sharing a role-claim with three other people. And your triple sheriff check has a pretty big hole. If any of you are the valet, the Haunting just recruits one of the other two to their cause. The Paladin can't ward everyone. That's why I'd rather lynch one of you today to cut the role-claim down to a much more manageable two.

Although I find it odd that yesterday you referred to Luna being killed by the Death Knight, even though you a) apparently knew she was haunting from your night investigation and b) knew Azeryuu visited her with his smite ability.

If we do take everyone's role-claims thus far as fact, and assume that the Haunting haven't made any role-claims of any kind, I'd say these are my top three suspects:

    - Escaho
    - Jimbobicus
    - Mopin

But, I'd rather get some information today before we commit to a list like that.

Just got caught up. I don't believe Drama's shadow hunter claim for one simple reason: the valet can mimic a shadow hunter just as easily. The fact that two people visited me says to me that one of them was the valet trying to figure out what I am. If only a ranger was on me last night because apparently, if everyone is to be believed, I was actually visited by several people:

    - DramaLlama
    - McPwnage
    - Herald

I lied about not receiving any PMs last night because I wanted to see if Drama would claim Herald, but he didn't because he's an information gathering role (aka Valet). I think we should have Death Knight kill Goremancer and then lynch DramaLlama today. If he flips shadow hunter, which I doubt, we can go after McPwnage.
