Player 14 is the Godfather and the only player not to vote the Consig on trial, and vote innocent. That night, he healed the Godfather and voted with him against me after the Mason had been killed.
He then alters his last will to 'LOL I just wanted to make him mad was funny LOL.'

I've noticed that all Cult Members (including Witch Doctors) can still gain the Divine Guidance achievement even if they have a Witch Doctor Casualty.
I think the mechanics of gaining Divine Guidance need to be updated to make it more challenging to get, as it was before Witch Doctor was implemented.

Summary: All three players have the [Yakuza] clan tag.
Day two, all three players vote player 12 together at the same time. All three vote guilty, everyone else either abstains or votes innocent. Voting ensues with 4 players voting Oniivek. None of his clan-mates vote him.
Following day I announce '5 is Mafia' (EDOritalo) which is a lie. This prompts his other clan-friends to randomly vote Player 6 at the exact same time. Oritalo goes on trial (none of his friends voted him) where he is publicly lynched. Both of his clan-mates vote innocent, the other three players vote guilty.
The remaining two who are Mass Murderer and Survivor both vote player 12 who is a confirmed Veteran. The voting goes nowhere and the Mass Murderer kills player 14 that night. They then lynch the Veteran and the Mass Murderer wins the game. EDOspectre gets his first win as MM.
There is evidence throughout the game that these three players supported each other and voted together multiple times.

Summary: In a game that had a lot of leavers, both of the accused were Bodyguards. Both players guarded eachother every night throught the game. They voted together, and voted some strange targets.
Day 2: Five people remain. A Witch, a Detective, a Mason Leader, and two Bodyguards. The Detective goes on trial after saying he was Witched and the two accused vote guilty together.
Day 3: Both of the accused try to vote the Mason Leader, who is confirmed. I am the Witch and knowing that if the ML dies, I probably lose, so I convince the ML that they are working together and gain his trust.
A voting deadlock ensues for another night between me and the ML vs. the two Bodyguards. on day 5, the anonymous ballot begins and we have SEVEN 2v2 stalemates on the ballot.
Town wins by default but I believe that the two Bodyguards had no hard evidence to trust eachother so strongly for such a long time. If I were them, I'd probably suspect the other BG more than anyone else. Check the replay and decide for yourselves.

Yes, and the erase would fail. The protected will only become immune the following day.

I'm glad my idea is getting such good reception. I'm open to name changes for the role if something is preferred to Eraser.
1 night between hides is also a good call.

Role Name: Eraser
Alliance: Town Protective
Description: You a a retired Secret Agent, using your knowledge and resources to help people disappear.
Abilities: Select one target per night with the 'Hide' ability. The following morning, the target's role will be cleaned and he will appear to have died, but will actually remain alive. The target will be immune from voting, and immune to being targeted by anyone (except the coroner) at night. This will be because the target's name will become invisible.
The effect will last for one day and night. The target will be unable to vote, but can still use their abilities.
Advantages: The Eraser's ability can be used best to hide a trusted member of the town from being lynched or targeted by a killing role.
Disadvantages: The Eraser could hide an evil role, which would protect that role for a day, much to the disadvantage of the town. A protected member of the town would be unable to speak during the day whilst hidden. This would stop that role from revealing any vital info to the town.
Mechanics: Eraser can't target himself. If bus driven or witched to target himself, the effect will fail. Eraser can be hidden by another Eraser.
Switches: Limited to 2 / 3 / 4 hides.

I have not stolen anybody's ideas on this one. If the idea has already been suggested, I apologise as I do not have access to R&D and had no idea.

My suggestion is to add a Cancel Button to the Last Will box, so that players may cancel any changes made to their Last Wills if need be.
I've done it a few times where I've accidentally highlighted my entire Last will and overwrote it.. The problem is, it's irreversable and I can't continue typing to the town until I validate my Last Will which in turn, deletes the clues I wrote, causing me to look back on the log and rewrite my clues.

The Witch did go on to win the game by gaining support from the Survivor, but this would never have happened if GameFreak supported the proven members of the town and, the Survivor who wanted to win with them. For this, I'd class it as a gamethrow.
Slaol is right. Mayor isn't broken, people just make shitty setups.
Doing something as simple as throwing in 1 Random Any and allowing Citizens makes this strategy obsolete.
Exactly my point!
If the reason Mayor isn't broken because it's people's fault for making shitty setups, then something can be done to improve this.. Which is why I started this thread.
You've just disagreed with me and contradicted yourself because you know there's room for improvement.

Hi guys. I've been playing Mafia for some time now and I thought it may be a good idea to implement a setting to stop Mayors from receiving private messages.
I find it overpowered for the town. Normally the Mayor will reveal on day 1 or 2 and demand that everyone PM him their roles. I've attached a replay of a game where I have done just that, and the game resulted in many of the players leaving the game.
The Framer immediately suicided, the Godfather left, and the Mafioso left when I cornered him with my info. The Witch left when I put her on trial. The remaining town even got the Suicide Hotline achievement because there were so many leavers.
I think it would be good for the game.

On night 2, he investigated the Orange player and told the town he found the Godfather, and that Orange is it. What made me suspect him, was that me being the Witch, I made him visit the Blue Player who was Doctor or Serial Killer. He saved his last will posting Orange's role before he even checked him anyway.
Either MrLoL is psychic, or he used outside communication to cheat. I think the latter is obvious.
Idk...I think mass murder does a good enough job with that.
The Stalker will attack his target's target, not the visitors of his target like the MM does.
Thanks Ekkeh. I've updated the role mechanics. The SK does have the advantage of choosing who to kill outright, so I'll allow the Stalker some leniency with Detectives and Lookouts.
I'm glad some of you like my suggestion. :)

Description: You are a suicide bomber, laying a network of bombs to destroy the town.

Goals: Be the last one standing. (Wins with Witch or other Terrorists)
Actions: At night you can use the 'Rig Explosives' command on any one player, or even yourself. If a rigged player visits another rigged player, both will die.

Rigging yourself may be more useful when there are less players remaining in the game as you will kill yourself during the process.

Actions: At night you can use the 'Rig Explosives' command on any one player, or even yourself. If a rigged player visits another rigged player, both will die.
Benefits: Another type of neutral killing role. It would be fun to be this role and to tactically select your targets.
Rigging yourself may be more useful when there are less players remaining in the game as you will kill yourself during the process.
Switches:
Invulnerable at night = ON / OFF
Role Mechanics: Bombs ignore night immunity.
Right because this role completely kills its target.
No it doesn't. You must not be reading it properly. This role suggestion hasn't got the ability to kill unless he's alone and becomes Mafioso.

Good point Slaol. Didn't think of that as I was a bit tired last night.
My thoughts would suggest no. Role upon death changes, but not his investigative details.
Oh yeah I'd just like to add that if this role (actress) does come out, then the makers should seriously consider changing the role's name, lol.

Damn it!.... Back to the drawing board.
I think the role can work in pubs.
It'll have to have a single investigation possibility though just to weaken it a lil bit..

Description: You are a member of the Mafia who specialises in infiltration.
Alignment: Mafia - Deception
Actions: At night, by using the 'Infiltrate' command on another player, you are able to steal the Identity, but not the abilities of that player. If you die or get lynched the following day, your role will be revealed to everyone as your target's role.
Benefits: Confuses the town into thinking that they've lynched, or had the wrong role killed. Could also confuse the town into thinking a number of mafia members are still alive.
Switches:
Becomes Mafioso if alone = ON / OFF
Can target Mafia = ON / OFF
Role Mechanics: If the Insider does not use his 'Infiltrate' command, his role will be revealed as Insider if he dies.
I meant there is role called lawyer, that pretty much does this.
Really? I haven't played Mafia for the last week but I'm currently unaware of such a role.

I like your idea very much Ekkeh.
I agree with Blazer though, I think Lawyer is a much better name for this role.
I reckon it should have an ON / OFF switch for whether or not target is always Mafia because this role could work with anybody.
Maybe he should be set a new target if his original one is killed at night too perhaps?
This role should defo be added to the game.

Thank you for finally explaining to me why you disagree with my idea Slaol. Okay, fair enough. I see why now, but I still disagree with the makers approach to this as I am a believer that cross roles can work so long as they are balanced, faithful to the genre, and innovative.
I personally think they fail if they choose not to move forward.
Maybe another town / invest role is not welcome as we arguably have enough of them, but they should seriously consider adding more roles to the game.
More roles = More achievements to accomplish.
Many roles I see on the suggestions forums are just two or more existing roles combined. This is redundant in nearly every case and your role will not be considered for implementation."
Combination roles are to be disregarded unless they become a completely new thing, which this role is not (yet).
So far, you've still yet to state any real reason as to why my suggestion can't be put forward. All you've done so far is be dismissive. This suggestion is not a combination role of the Investigator and the Arsonist. Please go away Slaol, your criticism isn't welcome.
By the way, it's investigative journalism. Most journalist don't spy they interview.
Not necessarily true. It doesn't matter if journalists spy on, or interview people. As long as they find something to write about, they will.
Fusing roles is regularly shunned. If Journalist = Arson+Investigator, that plainly, there is no real point at all.
New Ideas > More of Old Ideas
There is no evidence to back up this comment. Fusing roles can and will work as long as the balance of the game is maintained. You should try to be more open-minded.
On a different note, thank you for your positive and negative criticism. I am going to edit my first post then and change the specs of this role a little bit. Judging by the feedback, i think it would be best to turn 'Detect exact role' off,, but add it as a switch. Please tell me what you think.
How? It will confirm which town players are what, which means that doctors and bodyguards know who to protect. It also keeps jailors from jailing them (or jail them to protect them). There is also a chance that it will broadcast mafia or neutrals to the town. This will give blatant %100 confirmation of the role that is irrefutable evidence. The only team to benefit is the town.
The impact of the confirmed roles won't be as severe so long as it takes a long time to publish any info at all. Like all other town investigative roles, it would be a danger to allow the Journalist to live for too long. ALSO, there are many games where docs and bodygaurds protect each other.. It can often be figured out simply by looking at the role list at the start of a game.
If the sheriff's role has been publicised, big deal. The info is as helpful to the mafia anyway.
Info can be framed. Publishing can be averted by blackmail.
How about the info is revealed in the form of the Investigator's Investigations then? With a detect exact role switch = ON / OFF?
Would that appease you?

I seriously doubt your opinions. You've taken into account all the cons, but not the pros for a balanced game. This role could inadvertadly reverse the fortunes for the town if it doesn't use its abilities tactically.

no it's not. It's like having 1 revealed role on Day 4. Have you read the mechanics properly?
