I'm thinking it's because our real goal is to watch people interact. Being right is part of maintaining our facade, we can't drop that!

For some members, certainly! My concern is of the brazen defiance that some people have for not being proven wrong.

A problem arises if we don't have enough reserves.
With that said, I encourage everyone to sign up to be a reserve. You probably have the time to do it— the expectations for being a reserve is much lower than a person who signed.
It seems to be a consensus that reserves are not expected to read day one, nor even expected to keep up to date. You just have to check in every so often so that everyone else feels like they can read you.
Unless you really don't like the setup, you can count on reserving as doing someone a favor. Doing people favors is good. You should do good things. Reserving for games is good and you should do it.
And when the time comes around for you to host that special setup, it'd be nice to have someone be granting you favors, no?

In the Army (reserves)
Re: The problem with shitposting
The number of players that make continual shitposting their entire playstyle is very small. And the people who shitpost continuously are typically open to questionning / conversations about the game if you take the initiative. It's the players that never post and are never online that actually handicap the town, but they typically signup rarely, and if they play often they get PLed until they clean up their act.
On the other hand, arguments, shitflings and OOG-related drama devour far more pages and bloat games far more than continual shitposters. At least shitposting is pleasant to read. As individuals we need to be more sensitive and make a small effort to befriend people outside of FM, so we don't only see / get to know eachother in a paranoid, hostile setting. That would make games far nicer.

Glad my phone autocorrected sino to Dino, and gave birth to a new meme.
