New role for Cultist:
We have noticed a growing love for cult saves within the community, but there still seems to be a big issue with cult saves; they are dependent on the neutral killing most of the time. If the neutral killing dies early, the town will win due to masons. If the neutral killing kills the town, cult wins. If the neutral killing kills the cult, town wins. So we have come up with a role that hopefully will add something to the cult, as well as make it a little more "exciting" in cult saves.
Name: See'r https://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionary/see-r/ the link is to a definition of the name.
Alignment: Cultist
Spawn: Either an invest role recruited to cultist, or adding a chance in spawn (will be able to be turned off and on)
Ability: Shadow 1 person every night to see if they visit someone or not.
---ex: Your target visited someone last night.
---ex: your target stayed home.
The cultist will NOT be able to see WHO the target visits, just if they visited someone or not. This allows for cults to have a chance as faking invest roles and calling people out, as well as getting an idea of who they should visit to recruit next.
We are launching a vote for this in our discord channel as well, feel free to join and cast your vote!

Re: New role for Cultist:
An additional role for Cultist have previously been written.
The problem isn't lack of role ideas. Its lack of a Developer with the time and ability to code it into the game.
-
Re: New role for Cultist:
to take the suggestion a step further, a cultist mechanic like
https://www.sc2mafia.com/forum/showth...9219-The-Setup
would be wicked.

Oh well, then why are we playing... lol... If that's the problem, the current developper could give this job to someone else who would resurrect Sc2 Mafia... no?

The marshmallow has a point. It might be time to past the baton again if Helz(I remember it being Helz whos in charge) no longer has time.

Re: New role for Cultist:
Nah, Helz has some things he is working on for the map. He also has a busy life so it is taking a little time. He has done more for the map than has been done in years. Chill fellas.

We too impatient. No life allowed outside of sc2mafia

Hum I understand this, and Helz is one of (if not the) admin for who I have the most respect. And yes, maybe, it's more than what has been done in years... But for a dying community in a soon dying arcade of a soon dying game, it's definetly not enough.
-
Re: New role for Cultist:
Another thing: couldn't the administration be shared by a few admins, instead of just having one guy who has a busy life in charge of all updating the map stuff?

I can always trust MM to be the voice of reason

Feel free to make me a contributor on github, Helz. Just dm me the link and I'll request to be a contributor.

^ - I think people who have access to R&D should be able to see the concepts we were working on. We're not breaking the rules on R&D so I'm not copying it here. Feel free to comment on it over there if you'd like.

None of us know how to code. Galaxy is a very involved editor and the way mafia runs needs some pretty competent knowledge of programming. None of us really fit that bill. I would have taken it up ages ago if I was up to the task.

Okay, so there's really noone trustable who is able to code the game? R.I.P. Sc2 Mafia then.

problem 1: coding program is difficult and not a common area where people are experts at
problem 2: mafia has been coded in such a way, that only the original developer really knows how it works.
so you would need someone that a)can code in that language & b) translate it from D.R.s own personal coding signature c)mafia enthusiast d)lots of free time to code for free
so its not just the fact that there is no one trustable. its a lot more than that.

That only solves one problem.

Not really. Feel free to try to create a new mafia though so you can see how much time it takes!

Hello. I have a bachelor's in software engineering and am pursuing my master's in cyber security
problem 2: mafia has been coded in such a way, that only the original developer really knows how it works.
I can refactor the code to make it easier to read and understand what is going on
so you would need someone that a)can code in that language & b) translate it from D.R.s own personal coding signature c)mafia enthusiast d)lots of free time to code for free
the only issues I have here are that I don't know Galaxy per se, but I can learn, and I won't have free enough free time until after finals (the first week of december)
This is my 3rd time offering. Only one person has ever responded by giving me a link to a galaxy tutorial, other than that I've been completely ignored. So take it or leave it this is my last offer.

Re: New role for Cultist:
Lol I simply meant I'm not going to beg to work on this. I've offered to help a problem several times already, only this time I made it a bit bigger and noticeable. If they want the help, fine. If not, fine. I'm just not going to make the offer again.

I couldn't find anywhere where you have seriously offered.
-
Re: New role for Cultist:
I keep telling people over and over and over again to either
A - Give up, as there's plenty of games exactly like SC2Mafia that are being worked on around the clock.
B - Give up their lives to code it themselves.
C - Play the game and shut up.
This is a free fucking game people. Half you half wits don't even donate to Rev, so how/why you expect some sort of magic to happen with this game is beyond me. Not only that, but then there's also the mountain of people who just totally disrespect the game itself.
I've personally have spoken to Helz about this and he himself believes there's about 1001 better things he could do with his time when dedicating his precious time towards this project.
The long and the short, it's not going to happen -- get over it.

Re: New role for Cultist:
On the other hand, why not try out the lovely Narrator by Voss. Voss knows what he's doing and half you don't even answer to his calls in times of need.
RUDE

That's because I haven't done so publicly, I've done it through private messages. I misphrased that, I shouldn't have said "bigger" but "more noticeable" fits. I wanted it to be able to be seen and not hidden in dms.
-
Re: New role for Cultist:
Also, please note I do not have any desire to be a mod or admin. If there are issues cause by legacy code or otherwise, I'm willing to help with that. But only if y'all want it. I'm not unhappy with the game by any means.

I Agree With You

Re: New role for Cultist:
Pretty sure Ghowilo never heard what Galaxy code was until I mentioned it.

If someone is going to be coding for the game, they can not do it behind closed curtains, they have to integrate into the community. They will -have- to have moderator/admin levels of clearance.

Tsk tsk tsk. What if I don't get time to play a 2 hours game on week nights? I'll play it when it'll relase on public with games that don't happen 1 time a month lol.

Narrator games aren't 2 hours long, they're like 20 minutes. And I can't release this on public without more support for the game (there are good reasons for this, but I'm not trying to hijack the thread)

Re: New role for Cultist:
Anyway, if there's a problem with unvetted members pushing galaxy code, I don't mind reviewing code changes for 'funky' business, if that's what SuperJack is getting at.
